Time to finalize the result of last week's poll for our other Superstars 10 movie, Ghoul School! Revolta and the Mirror Monster were neck and neck all week, but Revolta came out as the winner in the end. Here are the full results:

17. Crunch - This is the only one of the group I don't like. Honestly, I find him to be lowkey kind of annoying.

16. Brunch - I like him better than Crunch in the sense that he at least contributes something to the plot besides bungling things. His British accent also makes him a little more charming to me haha. However, he doesn't really hold a candle to any of these other iconic designs.

15. Wolfgong - His design is kind of cool, but he's barely in this movie and doesn't really do anything.

14. Spider Monster - I really like all of these from this point on! His design is pretty cool, and I like how unique of a monster idea this is! Ultimately I'm going to rank him here, because he's in this movie so little that I literally couldn't even get an image of just him lol. The image I got is the only frame that he's in this movie.

13. The Schlock Ness Monster - Although the design is pretty basic, I do really enjoy the scene he's in haha.

12. Genghis Kong - Very fun and random monster lol.

11. Monster Plant - It doesn't quite reach the level of any of the Monster Realm members for me, but big shoutout to this one for being a very creepy design. There are so many different ways that a "monster plant" design could have come out pretty basic, but whoever designed this did an incredible job!

10. Vanna Pira - I really debated where to rank her. She just looks like a normal person; however, I feel she brings a really unique presence to this movie. It's unclear whether or not she's even a villain, because she doesn't ever act evil. She has a really fun presence in this film, and the ambiguity about whose side she's on (or if she even has a side) makes her a very interesting character.

9. Repulsa - Neat design, but personality-wise I enjoy her least out of the monsters in Dracula's realm.

8. Frankenstein's Monster - He's a fun character, but his design is the most basic of any of them imo.

7. Dragonfly - I liked that we got to see some different types of monsters be a part of Dracula's realm! Even though the Universal Monsters teaming up trope is one of my favorites, it's fun to get some variety in this film.

6. Dr. Jackyll and Mr. Snyde - Really cool villain! It's neat to see a Mr. Hyde-like character be a part of Dracula's realm, considering all other Hyde appearances in the franchise are him on his own.

5. Swamp Thing - Love this swamp monster design! It's never said what type of monster he is, so I always thought he was meant to be the boogeyman when I was younger lol.

4. Mummy - Love this mummy design! Hot take, but I'd choose this design over the Mummy of Anhka's. He's one of my favorite mummies in the franchise.

3. Bonejangles - Considering some of the incredibly basic skeleton designs we've gotten in this franchise (looking at you, "bones drawn on a black suit" skeletons haha), Bonejangles is miles above any of those. The top hat and bow tie are really fun lol. I'm just going to come out and say it, this is hands down the best skeleton design in the franchise. The Sky Skeleton may have given it some competition if the design was consistent.

2. Witch Sisters - Easily two of the most enjoyable villains in this film. Their designs are great, and they have a lot of fun scenes.

1. Dracula - I really like a lot of the designs here, but Dracula is a standout for sure. The design is very distinct from the similar-looking Dracula designs we've gotten. He also has an extremely strong and memorable personality!

Dracula easily

i feel most of the other monsters don't really do much but they all have cool designs

the Hunch Bunch are just the minions who do all the work and Vanna's the comedic relief

I totally agree Dracula stands out more than the other monsters. The Witch Sisters stand out the most of the other ones to me, mainly because they have a lot of personality, but yeah, the other monsters definitely feel a bit more background compared to Dracula and the Hunch Bunch.

I would say no, I was just thinking of keeping the poll to villains. In hindsight, I probably should have worded the question as "favorite villain" instead of "favorite monster."

Hey WildwindVampire, that's looks like the cover of the 1989 UK VHS release of "Scooby-Doo and the Reluctant Werewolf" from The Video Collection.

Also, that Superstars 10 movie of that ends with the 1983 variant of the 1979 Hanna-Barbera "Swirling Star" logo with the blacked-out Taft byline and i''m also sure that the Tubi streaming print of that also might have the 1988 Worldvision Enterprises logo (the original bylineless version, which can be found on episode 3 of "Most Wanted"(1976 TV series) on the CBS Home Entertainment MOD DVD release and others), here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ma2qDV5zDxo

I wish the 1988 Worldvision Enterprises logo should've been kept on the Warner Archive Blu-ray releases of "Yogi and the Invasion of the Space Bears" and "Scooby-Doo and the Reluctant Werewolf" (both 1988) IMO though.

That's really interesting that they'd have different versions of Reluctant Werewolf that switch the logos! I didn't know that before.

17. Genghis Kong- This one is very outdated, to be honest. Easy last place for me personally

16. Spider Monster- I will be honest, my list's order would probably change on a rewatch but I can not completely remember everything from every monster here, so I am going based off of design but mostly faded memory. I don't remember much with the Spider Monster, unfortunately

15. Wolfgong- Same here

14. Repulsa- I don't remember being the biggest fan of Repulsa

13. Frankenstein's Monster- Pretty generic design, but pretty good overall

12. Monster Plant- The design is pretty good

11. Dragonfly- Solid, middle of the road villain in this movie

10. The Schlock Ness Monster- Gets points because I remember liking this scene a lot lol

9. Swamp Thing- Great design

8. Bonejangles- I really like the design here

7. Crunch- I agree with Wildwind that he can be a bit annoying, but I also have some nostalgia from Crunch and Brunch, so he gets a boost here

6. Vanna Pira- One of my favorite characters in the movie, but her design is just a normal lady, and is arguably barely even a villain, if at all

5. Dr Jackyll and Mr Snyde- I typically like Mr Hyde villains, so it was cool to see one in this movie with the rest of these monsters

4. Witch Sisters- Arguably two of the weaker designs here, but I remember enjoying their presences in the movie

3. Mummy- The design for this mummy is way better than I remembered it being, easily one of the best here. definitely not better than Scamses in Mummy Scares Best, but really excellent design

2. Brunch- As opposed to Crunch, Brunch isn't annoying, but still has that same nostalgia, One of the first characters to come to mind for me for this movie, but not as much as...

1. Dracula- Obvious choice is obvious, but Dracula is an iconic movie villain, and is easily the first to come to mind for me and the best villain here

Yeah, most of these designs are awesome! Makes me wish many of these monsters had more personality than they do.

16. The Spider Monster has essentially just one line. His only comment is reading Hunch Bunch's spiderweb order back to them as they're laying the trap, so there isn't too much to remember for this one.

6. Agreed she's not really a villain here. I actually almost didn't include her, but decided to at the last minute since it's kinda ambiguous as to whether she's on Dracula's side or not. I forgot to mention it in my review, but she's also one of my favorite characters in the movie!

3. Agreed! I don't think I ever thought about much about the design when I was watching it, but looking at the image, it's a really solid design. I'd probably pick Scamses as my favorite mummy too, but I think this is a close second. The design is classic-feeling but also has some elements like the exposed fingers/eye that make him stand out.

I've probably said this before, but I find that the pilots in Reluctant Werewolf are built the same way as those in Wacky Races. None of them really stands out, since all the monsters complement each other. Having one pilot who was too developed would inevitably overshadow the others. While watching the movies, I sometimes felt that certain monsters, like Dragonfly, were just background characters, but I can understand why. Like any good Hanna-Barbera race, you need a cheat and a troublemaker. Like Dick Dastardly, this is probably the most important character in the story. It's the role Dracula plays in Reluctant Werewolf. Besides being a great commentator (I really enjoy the moments when he addresses the crowd), his attempts to get rid of Shaggy were very much in keeping with Dick Dastardly's character, especially in the scene where he switches the signs to send Shaggy off the rails. He could have used a character like Muttley to support him, but Vanna Pira, Crunch, and Brunch don't quite fill that role.

I'm strangely looking forward to Monday. Jellystone isn't on this weekend, and I kind of miss it! I'm really glad I have to watch the show on TV rather than online or on DVD. The series airs in the evening, and it provides a relaxing break that you're almost forced to take. It also helps structure the day and makes it easier to work by having this time as a daily objective. I also like not having to choose which episode to watch. With DVDs, I often tend to only rewatch the episodes I like. Plus, watching a DVD is something you can more easily postpone than watching a TV show. It's more fun to discover Jellystone episodes on Boomerang and try to appreciate them as much as possible. I get the same enjoyment from watching Jellystone as I did when I discovered The Flintstones, The Yogi Bear Show, and The Jetsons on Boomerang a few years ago. I hope Boomerang doesn't change the time slot!

It is indeed strange that the series doesn't explore Cindy's characteristics as an individual more. I imagine we still learn a few details about her personal tastes, like in Heavens to Murgatroyd. I saw this episode on Friday, and I found it more twisted than the others. The main plot is rather thin, but this also allows the story to be versatile and change atmosphere quickly when necessary. What surprised me most about the episode was Jabberjaw's personality. She's not a character I know very well, but I didn't expect her to have Judy's personality. There's often talk about separating Judy from her romantic side in a future Jetsons spin-off. Jellystone, on the contrary, seems to have opted for the 1962 version. It's not something that bothers me, but it's a bold move at a time when there's more of a focus on developing female characters like Daphne and Cindy.

Just out of curiosity, but I was wondering if you have a favorite year in Hanna-Barbera history. For me, it's 1988. All the studio's major franchises had something interesting that year, especially thanks to Hanna-Barbera Superstars 10. In the case of Scooby-Doo, in addition to the three Superstars 10 movies, A Pup Named Scooby-Doo also debuted that year. 1988 must have been a great year for the franchise. Yogi got three Superstars 10 movies and two new series: Yogi's Treasure Hunt, in the style of Yogi's Gang, and The New Yogi Bear Show, which really captures the spirit of the original series. It wasn't as big a year for The Flintstones and The Jetsons, but we should still note the airing of The Flintstones Kids and Rockin' with Judy Jetson. The 1960s saw the emergence of Hanna-Barbera's biggest stars, but 1988 is for me the year the studio reinvented itself after several unsuccessful attempts to create the perfect Scooby-Doo clone.

I completely agree that Reluctant Werewolf has so many similarities to Wacky Races! I haven't seen much of Wacky Races, but from what I know about it, Dracula definitely feels comparable to Dick Dastardly's role. Given they chose to pursue a more antics-based structure, I'm glad that they didn't have the other monsters team up with Dracula. It worked best to just keep it at Dracula and the Hunch Bunch being the main ones causing the antics. I don't think it would have worked well to have a Muttley-like character supporting Dracula. Having rewatched it, The Hunch Bunch taking orders from Dracula fit a lot better with the vibe of the film.

That's awesome that you're loving Jellystone so much! I remember falling in love with the series too when I first saw it on release day. The show does such an amazing job with worldbuilding and developing all the different Hanna-Barbera characters in a way that feels mostly consistent (or have character development/growth that feels logical) with the original series. I hope you enjoy tomorrow's episode!

"Heavens to Murgatroyd" was an interesting one. I don't remember loving it, but the story was fun for what it was. I also found the plot to be a bit thin, though. Yeah, it's super interesting how much they changed Jabberjaw to be more outgoing and flamboyant in this series! Saying she's similar to Judy is a good comparison. Jabberjaw definitely feels like she took on quite a few aspects of Judy's character. Not sure if you've seen this, but Judy actually does appear in one 2-part episode of the series along with the rest of the Jetsons.

That's a really good question! I've honestly never thought about it before. I'd love to go with 1972 because of The New Scooby-Doo Movies, but after watching the rest of The Flintstone Comedy Hour this summer, I'm leaning away from picking that year. I thought the comedy of the series was pretty cheesy, and the writing was overall not so great compared to the original series. I also thought about picking 1979. The Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo Show isn't amongst my favorite series, but I did really like some of the episodes, and it was a great year for The Flintstones. Many of the episodes, like a few of the spookier ones from The New Fred and Barney Show, and The Flintstones Meet Rockula and Frankenstone, are amongst my favorites of the franchise. Ultimately, I think I'll also have to pick 1988. I love that we got a major Scooby-Doo reboot (A Pup Named Scooby-Doo) that was so fun and successful. I also really liked how the Superstars 10 movies were more experimental. Ghoul School and Reluctant Werewolf are two of my favorite Scooby movies of all-time for how unique the plots are, and I also think Rockin' with Judy Jetson explored a very unique direction that was different than anything The Jetsons had done before. Between all of that, I think 1988 was probably the strongest combined year for all the Hanna-Barbera franchises I enjoy. Everything from that year was top-tier, and there's nothing I've watched that I disliked.

I will go with Dracula, since he is the maine villain of the movie and the most memorable. I did like the other contestants designs too, it would have been nice if each of those designs would have been used in some other Scooby-Doo series, maybe an episode for each as the villain, or at least the ones that stood out the most. Also, shouldnțt the wolfman be in the poll too? I think we saw him in the postcard.

What I never got with the movie is what was up with Wolfgong, was he not a werewolf too? Why did Dracula need Shaggy when he already had another one? Or was Wolfgong just some monster wolf-lion-man..thing. Though, maybe he just couldn't drive.

Wolfgong is Dracula assistant, the one in the picture that looks like a short werwolf, that is who I am asking about, not the Wolfman who moved to Florida. I was wondering if Wolfgong himself was a werewolf, since he looks to be one, then Dracula would not have needed Shaggy. Though, maybe he couldn't drive or was some other kind of monster.

I was always confused about Wolfgong too! Was he just a monster wolf that wasn't a half-human, half-wolf? It's also odd to me how he literally just appears in the opening scene (or at least, I'm pretty sure he doesn't appear again after that) and then isn't seen again.

Some of the designs are really cool, so yeah, it would have been neat to see those designs get their own episodes (although only if they wouldn't have been used here; I wouldn't have wanted the designs to be reused).

I did think about including the werewolf, but chose not to since he isn't in the movie other than Dracula showing that picture of him.

Yeah, Wolfgong was weird. Appeared at the start and then kind of vanished.And true, the Wolfman only appeared on the postcard and he did not really do anything in the movie.

I wouldn't have minded if the designs for the monsters in the movie were reused in other series since they didn'y play a big role here, though I understand wanting unique monesters in other projercts, since especially with more recent series and movies they like to reuse more populat villains and monsters.

I don't remember for sure, but I don't think the gang even met Wolfgong. I think he might just be in those opening scenes and then didn't appear again, which makes it even odder.

Yeah, I guess it's just that I'm burnt out on the constantly referencing old monsters trend. I might feel differently if we got a break from it for a while.

17)Spider Monster - I barely remember him tbh. He had a fun small scene.

16)Wolfgong - One of the many comic relief monsters in the movie. He had a small role and didn't grab my attention.

15)Genghis Kong - Unique idea for a villain and i like him but he had also a small role and was smashed in the end of the movie in a rush.

14)Vanna Pira - I am not sure if she can be categorized as a monster. She is likeable though

13/12)Crunch and Brunch - Another set of comic relief characters. I find them a really funny duo and their failures always make me laugh

11)Repulsa - She has a fine design but she is the most forgetable of the race monsters

1)Dracula - Easilly no1. He was kinda creepy but also goofy at the same time. He fit the atmosphere of the movie perfectly.

7. Agreed Frankenstein's design was the most basic of any of them. I don't dislike the design or anything, but I think it could have been better considering how cool some of the other monsters look.

5. Totally agreed! I feel like he does the least out of any of the monsters here.
