This officially kicks off our "unreleased episodes" poll series! This poll series will go for the next five weeks, with the final round of the winning episodes taking place on September 28. We are starting off our journey through unreleased episodes with The Scooby-Doo Show! Bafflingly, half of season 2 has still never been released on physical media.

To keep what counts in this poll series consistent, I'm going to go by US releases only. This is because, unfortunately, international Scooby physical releases haven't been super well documented, so I think it makes most sense to just go by US releases here. This means the two episodes released on the Italian VHS Il Gran Primo will still count as "unreleased" in today's poll.

As we start another home media poll series, it's time to reveal the results for the best VHS-released Scooby-Doo media polls! The winner of that title goes to Zombie Island, which wins in a landslide with 27 votes! With all of the usual winners not being a part of this next poll series, I'll be very curious to see which unreleased episode will win!

4. Creepy Cruise - Although it is my least favorite of season 2, I have grown to appreciate this one a little more than I used to. The bug monster and time travel plot are super cool. I like how dark the atmosphere of the ship manages to be.

3. Curse of the Viking Lake - I really like all the different settings of this one. All of them manage to have a wonderful atmosphere, and the vikings make great villains here.

2. The Spooky Case of the Grand Prix Race - It's shocking that this one hasn't been released on DVD yet, especially considering there's even merch out there for the Phantom Racer! This episode is one of the best examples of this season's incredible use of dark tone. The setting of the racetrack feels incredibly dark here, with most scenes taking place at night. The stakes feel especially high in this episode with Shaggy being captured. The Phantom Racer trying to seal him into a wall is perhaps one of the dangerous kidnappings in the franchise for how the villain essentially tries to murder Shaggy through suffocating him.

1. The Creepy Heap from the Deep - Although the second half of the episode is a little less dark, I still love this episode. Captain Clemens' house on the cliff is an extremely frightening setting, and the soul-stealing plot makes this one of the most terrifying episodes of the classic era imo. Although all of these episodes deserve a DVD release, this is the one I'd most like to see released next.

All of these episodes are top 100 episodes for me, so there really are no losers, but my order is definitive for me

4. Creepy Heap From the Deep- The tonal shift is a minor complaint, but compared to the other three, it makes it definitely last here, and it didn’t really stand a chance against the top two here for me anyway

3. Curse of Viking Lake- Kind of a forgotten episode in the big picture, but it really shouldn’t be. Will talk a bit more about it when I post my comment of my list of honorable mentions of underrated episodes

2. Creepy Cruise- It is no secret I like this one more than most do, but unfortunately, I can’t vote it in this set when…

1. Spooky Case of the Grand Prix Race- … a top 10 episode of all time for me is here. This is my second favorite Scooby Doo Show episode. Just a brilliantly dark episode. The plot of the episode doesn’t really demand such a dark atmosphere, but they go for it anyway and it works exceptionally well

Agreed that every episode in this set is quite strong. Without looking at the current results, I'm guessing "Spooky Case of the Grand Prix Race" will probably win this one, but it has a lot of good competition here.

Spooky Case of the Grand Prix Race may well be my favorite TSDS ep. I've given a handful of episodes the title of fav over the years and I once again find myself not being sure which TSDS ep is my fav lol.

I'm the same way although recently I think I've settled on "Vampire Bats and Scaredy Cats." It's gone back and forth for me from it being that episode, "The Creepy Heap from the Deep" or "The Harum Scarum Sanitarium."

I've got to go for Curse of Viking Lake for this one, besides being a fun episode I find it really interesting because Teletoon aired a rough draft of the animation and it's fun to see the rough and final side by side

That's so interesting they aired a rough version of the episode! I know there was a similar situation with "Vampire Bats and Scaredy Cats," where different DVDs have some differences in the animation and Mr. Dracyl's voice. I believe one version has his voice really deep, while it's more high-pitched in another.

It's been a while since I saw those episodes of The Scooby-Doo Show, and I particularly remember The Creepy Heap from the Deep. The episode was similar to A Clue for Scooby-Doo, but I really liked the part where the gang investigates underwater. The franchise's aquatic episodes, like A Clue for Scooby-Doo and The Midnight Zone, are particularly impressive.
I really enjoyed reading your list of honorable mentions (by the way, I think you made a small typo when you wrote at the beginning that it was the franchise's 46th anniversary.)! I haven't seen the Dugout yet, but Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Werewolf and Web of the Dreamweaver deserve their spots. I really like the episodes with Scrappy and the rest of the gang. I see these episodes as a logical continuation of The Scooby-Doo Show, between the level of Season 3 and Season 1. In Demon of the Dugout, I appreciated the design of the monster and the baseball stadium as the main setting, especially since the investigation takes place at night. This gave the episode an atmosphere that the rest of the series didn't necessarily achieve.
Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Werewolf is among my least favorite episodes of Where Are You, but I find it interesting that the story innovates by having Fred, Daphne, and Velma chased by the werewolf instead of Shaggy and Scooby. Like all episodes of the series, the atmosphere was great, especially since the gang doesn't encounter any suspects. The werewolf's true identity remains unclear from beginning to end.
Web of the Dreamweaver is easily one of my favorite episodes of Mystery Incorporated. I love the atmosphere of the dream world and the Dreamwaver. There are no limits in this world, and the car chases reach their peak. What I particularly like about Mystery Incorporated are those episodes where Pericles is absent and we wonder how the culprit manages to make the monster so real. Certainly, if this episode didn't exist, we would have to invent it!
Your review of A Rogue Thorn was perfectly clear; it's just that I forgot that you mentioned that only Luna is shy!
I didn't know that the actress who plays Daphne in Daphne and Velma was biracial. Maybe Daphne is biracial in the film too, but I imagine you have to rely on some of her lines.
I would love to watch the film, but the DVD is particularly hard to find in Canada. On Amazon, it costs $30. For now, I'm focusing on completing my Flintstones and Jetsons DVD collection, particularly by purchasing the Flintstones specials and the Jetsons movies. The Scooby-Doo DVD I'm most looking for right now is the Boo Brothers one. Luckily, when I got the Jetsons and WWE movie from Amazon, I also got a discount at a Canadian record store I didn't know. Their DVD selection is average, but this store sells Boo Brothers for only $10. I'll take that into consideration.
As for the short stories from the movie, I think I'll have to buy those too.
I also think the writer of Jetsons and WWE was making a joke about humans not working hard enough anymore because of the machines. In fact, George explains in one scene that they have to act to save the city and then continue to do nothing afterward!

Oops, thank you so much for pointing out that typo! I just fixed it. It's cool that you agree on "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Werewolf" and "Web of the Dreamweaver"! I completely agree with you about The Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show feeling like a continuation of The Scooby-Doo Show season 3. There seemed to be a heavier focus on Shaggy and Scooby's adventures/antics in the third season, and you can definitely see that carry into The Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show (although this time, with Scrappy). Both seasons also seem to sideline Fred, Velma and Daphne in most episodes, which I wasn't a huge fan of. I think the franchise works best when there's equal focus on all members, rather than focusing way more on Shaggy and Scooby than the other three. Yeah, the night setting in "The Demon of the Dugout" definitely gave the episode a darker feel.

The fact that the dream world had no limits definitely made the episode creepier for me too! The villain seemingly able to enter the dreams of others and control them makes it feel particularly scary to me.

Oh wow, that is super expensive for Daphne & Velma! I wonder if it's out of print, since the film wasn't all that popular.

That's cool that you're trying to complete your Flintstones and Jetsons collection! On a semi-related note to that, I finally watched Cave Kids the other day. I wasn't a huge fan of Cave Kids, but I also recognize it's written for a much younger target audience. The idea of Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm having adventures was a cute one, although the writing was a bit too simple for me to enjoy. My motivation for checking it out was it was the only Flintstones series I'd never seen, so I'm still happy that I watched it, since now I can say I've watched every Flintstones episode and film. Hope you're able to find the Boo Brothers DVD!

4)Creepy Cruise - I believe this is the most average episode of season 2. Ship mysteries are always interesting, and while the plot and monster are original, they just aren’t as memorable for me.

3)The Creepy Heap from the Deep - I ranked this as 30th in my series rankings, but I’ll definitely move it higher in next year’s update. This episode has a great setting and story, but it will stay 3rd in this group of episodes since I used to like it more as a child.

2)The Spooky Case of the Grand Prix Race - I ranked this 16th, but I should change that because this really is a great episode. I’m definitely not as big a fan as the rest of you, but it’s still a classic. The villain and the racing are awesome.

1)The Curse of the Viking Lake - This episode scared me so much when I was a kid. The eerie setting and the cursed Vikings help create a great mystery, and I really love the plot in this one. Since we’re talking about underrated episodes, I believe this is one of the best in TSDS and in the franchise overall.

1. Thinking about how often this episode has come up in the past week, I honestly agree that this one feels very underrated. I probably could have included it on my honorable mentions list, because it is a really solid episode.
