Happy Easter to anybody celebrating today! We had a bit more of an even spread this time with the votes compared to last week, but one episode still blew all the others out of the water. Our winner got over double the amount of votes of any other option.

This opinion is about to get really unpopular, but maybe someone gets it.

I've always considered it more of a tone difference than being in a different continuity, but I agree with you that some of Scooby's relatives feel like they're on a completely different planet than Where Are You was lol. I definitely don't agree that Scooby is characterized as "mentally handicapped/disabled." However, the cowardly aspect of Scooby's personality really takes over here where it becomes a larger chunk of his character. I believe they did that to make Scrappy the more smarter/resourceful dog, but Scooby does feel a little less intelligent as a response. Less intelligent and "mentally disabled" are very different things though, and at no point in the series do I feel they characterized Scooby as the latter.

The show just took a goofier turn, it’s not really that serious in terms of Scooby being unintelligent. I definitely don’t think he is disabled or anything

As a series, I feel it is a slight, but not major upgrade from TNS&SDS for reasons I mentioned last week, however in terms of settings, I definitely think like the series itself, it also gets an edge mainly for the lack of low points. However, like with the last series, there is one that sticks out in a big way as the worst, though not to the same degree, but other that, I feel like there aren’t the other relative low points like The Mark of Scooby, Scooby Roo, or even Cyclops Too, which is less of a setting issue for me and more of the fact that the episode is abysmal due to how bizarre it is in an unpleasant way. Heck, they even do Cyclops again this series in a much improved way from that trainwreck

Completely agreed, this series is a lot more consistent in quality than the previous series and the shorts. "The Dooby Dooby Doo Ado" is the only truly bad episode here, and I either really like or love all of the 22-minute episodes. Looks like our rankings were pretty similar again this week:

My pick ended up being for A Halloween Hassle at Dracula’s Castle. I feel like there is a group of the big 3 defining/iconic episodes in this series (Happy Birthday, Halloween Hassle, and Nutcracker), and while I prefer the other two as episodes (though I would move Happy Birthday up to the excellent tier for the setting thinking back on it), Halloween Hassle pretty much kills it in terms of the setting. I would argue more than any other episode this series, Halloween Hassle is made great because of the setting (perhaps Doom Service, which I love the hotel as a fan of The Shining, is up there but it is also a shorter episode) 4/9/2023 08:29:35 pm
100% agreed with your iconic episode list. Those are my three favorite episodes of the series, both plot and setting wise, and they're the best Scrappy episodes IMO (along with "Wedding Bell Boos"). "A Halloween Hassle at Dracula's Castle" is my favorite of the settings too, the castle was incredible.

I would say the second closest to get my vote was Sherlock Doo or maybe A Night Louse at the White House, but you can’t go wrong with Happy Birthday or Nutcracker. Two of the best episodes of the franchise and towards the very top for the Scrappy era, even if Nutcracker’s setting never really stood out to me as much as some other episodes, but considering a Nutcracker Scoob is my favorite episode of this series, I really cannot complain about the setting as I obviously still find it to work very well 4/10/2023 08:03:38 pm
It'd be Happy Birthday second for me, followed by Nutcracker Scoob, then Peep Hole Pandemonium, and Sherlock Doo fifth. I feel Peep Hole Pandemonium is an underrated setting that kinda feels a little bit classic Scooby-ish to an extent. I like A Night Louse but I wouldn't say it's among my all-time favorites for the Scrappy series settings. A Nutcracker Scoob, on the other hand, feels like an amazing setting that really captures the warm Christmas atmosphere well. I would go as far as to argue it has the best holiday setting of any holiday episode in the franchise IMO.

Halloween Hassle at Dracula's Castle. While it's never been my favorite of the bunch of 22-minute episodes, it's got the best setting. It would take a lot to do better than what they went with here.

That was my vote as well, although it is my favorite of the 22-minute episodes.

I'll rank the settings. Interestingly enough, the best settings don't usually come with the best episodes here.

"Crap in a Basket Tier" is my new favorite tier name haha. I'm a little surprised to see you rank "A Night Louse at the White House" and "Sherlock Doo" so low! I personally thought both those settings were great, but I respect your opinion.

I put 'Sherlock Doo' because I own part of that setting lol, it's special to me. The background used for the lobby of the 'Great Mystery Contest' is on my wall right now haha. I see it every morning when I get up and it's like I'm there!
