Personally I don't count season 4 as a legitimate season, but I'm including it for those who do. Here are the results for last week's poll. I must say I'm a little surprised by the second WWE film being so high!
What is your favorite racing episode? The Spooky Case of the Grand Prix Race - 20 Scooby-Doo and the Reluctant Werewolf - 16 Gentlemen, Start Your Monsters! - 16 Scooby-Doo and WWE: Curse of the Speed Demon - 14 The Fast and the Wormious - 9 Weird Winds of Winona - 5 The Fastest Food Fiend! - 3 Pole to Pole - 1 All the racing episodes are awful, racing in general is awful, in fact, sports in general are just plain awful - 0

I was happy that won too haha, though I would have been equally happy if Reluctant Werewolf won. I was surprised "Gentlemen, Start Your Monsters" and Speed Demon both got so many votes!

What season 4? Also, I'd say season 1.

Some fans believe that because the last five episodes ("Mayhem of the Moving Mollusk," "The Were-Doo of Doo Manor," "Catcher on the Sly," "The Ghost of Mrs. Shusham," and "The Wrath of Waitro") aired in 1991 instead of 1990, that it means there was a fourth season. I don't have any evidence that there was undeniably not a fourth season, but I've always just considered the series to have three seasons.

I forgot to include Manny the Mauler and the babysitter, though both of those would have gone under "good." Manny is definitely a ridiculous villain, but he's just goofy enough for me that it works lol. That also brings my average down a little to 2.5, but season 1 still wins.

Great list! I love your "terribly ridiculous" tier haha. I would say we have very similar lists. I didn't find any villains in this series to be amazing/GOAT either, other than Boogedy Bones, but they all were very fittingly silly for the tone of the series.

There were one or two other decent ones here. Some were just so ridiculous they were good as we both pointed out.

I always like to have fun making fun of what I feel are bad villains, but to be clear, the only villain, as bad some others are, that actually makes me angry this season is Paula P Casso. Couldn’t stand her 4/11/2022 05:33:14 pm
I would say Buster and Waitro fall in the "intolerably awful" category, maybe even a little more so than Paula. Paula at least had a creepy factor to her (until you find out her actual motivations, which are beyond stupid given the way she acted), whereas Buster and Waitro are just bad (in my opinion).

I guess they just didn’t have the time to get there for me. They are every bit just as awful as Paula, but it is more like a “I really don’t care” thing for me, whereas Paula actively makes me want to avoid the episode altogether 4/12/2022 07:48:14 am
That's fair. I particularly didn't like Buster Mcmuttmauler, because there was no reason to recycle an old villain, making him living and far less scary, just to do a 3-minute Tom and Jerry-like short. The episode just feels kinda pointless in my opinion, because none of the antics are even really funny to me. Just my opinion.

I’ll agree with you there. The episode itself felt beyond pointless. Honestly felt those three minutes would be put to better use expanding the Ghost of Mrs Shushman 4/12/2022 01:36:12 pm
I wouldn't have minded if they gave Waitro's 7 minutes to "The Ghost of Mrs. Shusham" so the episode would have been 22 minutes. It's not quite as pointless as "Catcher on the Sly," but I certainly wouldn't be sad if they put Waitro's time to use to expand Mrs. Shusham's plot.

Wouldn’t bother me either, but I am slightly more forgiving to Waitro than Catcher on the Sly because it is at least more creative 4/13/2022 07:33:43 am
Agreed, I thought it was cool they at least tried to tie in Commander Cool, which had been a recurring topic in the series.

Season 1 for sure. I really like the green Ghost, the Sludge Monster, and the Samurai Ghost.

Season 1 is what I ultimately calculated out above as well. I enjoy the Green Ghost and Sludge Monster, but the Samurai Monster wasn't quite as high as those for me (while I do enjoy him). Boogedy Bones would be my other favorite.

While they all have merits, I think season 1 is the best. All of what the series is is in that first season. Although, I don't agree with how Daphne's parents looked, which was corrected in whatever next season they appeared in, and that's why you can't really have any bad season of Pup.

It always bothered me they so drastically changed Daphne's parents' appearance as well. Season 1 is definitely the best in terms of both villains and plot. It best showcases how the series is, like you said.

I definitely agree with nearly all of your list! I wasn't huge on the Totem Pole Monster. I wish we would have gotten to see the Green Ghost's miniature tongue heads more in the episode, because that was super cool. I believe we only got to see it once.

The first season definitely! That was when Tom Ruegger was part of the production. The show was still, fine, when he departed. But you could definitely feel a little shift in the show when he left.

Yeah, while I loved the whole series, there definitely felt like there was a little bit of the magic from the original season missing, particularly in the third season.

I've always been confused what episodes even constitute season 4, I remember looking at wikipedia when I got the second set and not seeing one listed there, granted this was years ago.

Season 4 is supposed to constitute what most people consider the last five episodes of season 3: "Mayhem of the Moving Mollusk," "The Were-Doo of Doo Manor," "Catcher on the Sly," "The Ghost of Mrs. Shusham" and "The Wrath of Waitro." I believe the reason it's separated by some fans into a fourth season is because these five episodes were held back until August 1991, whereas the rest of the season aired in 1990. I personally consider it to be part of a third season.

Well that's what got released on dvd, seasons 2,3&4... but whatevs, thanks for the answer, also suggestion for poll, which is the best song from Pup named Scooby doo, cause love it or hate it that music is so cheesy it's fun! 4/11/2022 02:05:58 pm
Yes, season 4 doesn't include any extra episodes though. The debate is whether those 1991 episodes are a part of the third season or if they are a whole new season. All the episodes are released on DVD. Hopefully that explained it better.

I was saying more, that if it was released that way on an official product, then it is probably an official designation, granted episode orders/production blocks get odd. 4/11/2022 07:33:53 pm
I wouldn't necessarily say that's the case, especially if you don't believe there's a Where Are You season 3 (they marketed The Scooby-Doo Show season 3 as Where Are You season 3 for the DVD release, despite that it still uses The Scooby-Doo Show intro). The episode orders are also inconsistent between the volume releases and season sets (episodes 3 & 4, 7 & 8, and 24-30 are in a different order on the season set as compared to the volume sets...even though the rest of the episodes were in order).

Fair I had forgotten that point, might be worth a deep dive to see if this was airing vs production order or what, shame I don't want that many TV guides laying around the house... 4/12/2022 07:46:25 am
That was something I tried to do I believe back in 2020 with a couple of the Pup episodes, though it wasn't really conclusive. I feel like it didn't say a title, it just said "new episode" or something. The way I determined the episode order I have in the episode guide is by looking at The Official Scooby-Doo Character Guide by Joe LoCicero. It was released in 1995, so I figured it would be decently accurate. Doesn't give clarity on if there was a fourth season, but it did confirm the correct episode order.

Great list! I would agree with you on everything, but I wasn't a huge fan of the alien or Paula P. Casso. The alien just never did it for me personally, but there's nothing really wrong with him I guess. I didn't love that Paula ended up being an artist and it was just a misunderstanding...but she wasn't horrible either.
