I almost put all of the episodes with Scooby's mother in this poll just to be silly (get it, because mummy? lol). I was pretty extensive with this poll and included any episode that even has a cameo from a mummy, even if a mummy wasn't the main villain. I didn't include Sobek from "Trading Chases" (Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!), as while he was the ghost of an Egyptian deity, he isn't a mummy. I did include Que Horrifico from "The Song of Mystery" (Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated) as while he's never directly said to be a mummy, he does very much have the appearance of one.

I was looking through and checking which of the mummies is scariest. While theatre of doom's was really scary, it didn't look much like a mummy to me. So I went with one of my favourite episodes from WNSD. Mummy Scares Best. I always though this mummy stood out from any other and was certainly one of the scariest.

"Theater of Doom" definitely didn't look like a traditional mummy, but I thought the design was super cool and it's arguably the scariest mummy in the franchise. That's my pick for this week.

the design was good but I'd prefer a classis traditional mummy and the scariest one if it's kind was "Mummy Scares Best" for me.

Agreed, that mummy was definitely the scariest traditional mummy Scooby has to offer (thus far).

Mummy scares best that one was pretty intense and scary. People getting sucked into the walls and being turn into zombies. The Mummy of Scames was pretty scary too especially when he tore of his headwear.

For my money, it's Scooby Doo and a Mummy Too! Coin! Coin! Coin!
I really like Mummy's the Word as well, for while it was not top tier for the Scooby Doo Richie Rich Hour it was quite good, particularly the ending.

I love your pun there haha. I agree "Mummy's the Word" is one of the best Richie Rich Hour shorts!

Ugh, hard to pick. I personally always consider just between the choices with the monster or aspect in question being a big part in them. Because otherwise I'd just pick an 80s movie or Innes movie every time.
I'll go with Scooby-Doo and a Mummy, Too! It's one of the funniest, most entertaining and generally enjoyable episodes of Where Are You. The scene where they find mummified Scooby cracks me up.
But shout out to Mummy Scares Best, some of the freakiest Scooby stuff of the 2000s. That's the scariest mummy imo, and crazy af concept and plot too, love it.
Where's Scooby-Doo? is also a great one for me. It was the first episode with just Scooby, Shaggy, Daphne and Scrappy that I saw.

Idea for a poll: favorite alien episode/film. Unless you've already done it and I forgot.

It is really hard to pick! I try to always pick based on the monster aspect in these types of questions as well, but it's still hard even just picking based on that haha. I love the atmosphere of "Theater of Doom" and how scary the mummy is (though like you, shoutout to "Mummy Scares Best" as one of the scariest Scooby episodes of the decade), but I also have a lot of nostalgia over "Scooby-Doo and a Mummy, Too!" The Mummy of Ankha is the textbook example of a Scooby-Doo mummy for me.

I have not done that poll yet and I love that idea! Thank you! :)

Yeah, I decided to be very broad for this poll and include any episode or film that had even a brief appearance from a mummy. I agree mummies aren't very prevalent in several of the options.

12/1/2021 12:42:44 pm

Yeah I am glad that you included them in case someone did want to choose them, but for myself, I will vote out of the options where it really feels prevalent. It feels weird picking against a Where Are You episode, but Mummy Scares Best kinda blows Mummy Too out of the water for me, as much as I appreciate Mummy Too as a classic episode

Same for me. I usually go with the nostalgia, but the mummy in "Mummy Scares Best" is a lot scarier and has a much cooler design.

I'm a huge fan of "Theater of Doom"'s story as well. It's such a unique storyline, particularly with Vincent Van Ghoul, and it worked in really well with the overarching plot of the show.

Scooby Doo and The Mummy Too:
This was first mummy episode and it was great. The Mummy of Ankha was a great and creepy villain. I loved how he kept saying coin coin coin. People being turned to stone was creepy. Some funny stuff in this episode. Scooby doing karate, him dancing pass the mummy, drinking what he thought was lemonade turning into a frog, Shaggy crying when Scooby was a statue then Scooby came along and cries with him too. One scene I thought was very creepy and funny was the real mummy just lying their and the moans coming from Scooby.

As I mentioned in a previous comment, this is the mummy I think of when I think of Scooby-Doo mummies. The fact that the mummy could turn people to stone was super creepy! I agree there were a lot of funny moments in this episode.

Where’s Scooby Doo:
I like this episode for the incredible twist it had. One of the mystery club members testing the gang for a mystery and one of them was a disguise for a spy trying to a hide a secret formula. The mummy in this episode looks just like the Mummy of Ankha.

Me too! It's one of the best episodes of this series IMO, only beat by "Wedding Bell Boos" and "Scoobygeist." I enjoyed this episode's setting quite a bit. I thought the mummy in this episode looked a bit more silly than the Mummy of Ankha did with some of his facial expressions (especially at the part right between the act breaks).

Mummy Scares Best:
I really like this episode. The Mummy of Pharaoh Scamses is arguably the scariest mummy. The zombie minions were also pretty scary especially when they kept saying join us. It was nice seeing Melbourne O Reilly again and it was also a surprise to see him as the one behind the mask but wasn’t really the culprit and I’m glad because I really like him.

Through his actions, yes, Pharaoh Scamses is the scariest mummy (I'd still say the Mummy of Friar Serra is scariest in appearance). His ability to zombify minions and seal people in walls is pretty terrifying. I really like Melbourne O'Reilly too and I'm glad they brought him back for this episode.

Scooby Doo in Where’s My Mummy:
This is one of the greatest Scooby Doo movies. The Ghost of Cleopatra and The Army of The Undead were really creepy. It was a surprise seeing Velma and Prince Omar and his workers being behind the whole thing in order to protect the treasures from Dr. America von Butch and her henchmen. I also liked the fact that Velma didn’t include her friends on the scheme because she wanted to protect them. That was sweet of her.

I also like the mystery with the Sand Spirit and Hotep/Armand Granger that Shaggy and Scooby solved.

I love this movie and it's still one of my favorites. The villains were awesome, and I remember being shocked the first time I watched it that Velma was behind it. It was a very sweet motivation though. I also enjoyed the little side-mystery Shaggy and Scooby had.

The plot of this movie is just like Scooby Doo and a Mummy Too. The curse of people being turned to stone. Shaggy and Scooby find the quick dry cement used to to make stone statues. Culprits wanting to steal something that would lead them to an ancient treasure(s).

The Song of Mystery:
I really like this episode. Que Horrifico was a cool and creepy villain. I like how he can turn kids into monsters by just playing the flute. The fact the the parents were just leaving their kids gave this episode a very serious scary vibe. Que Horrifico while not specified does in fact look a lot like a mummy.

I also like the running gags of Shaggy snapping himself with a rubber band whenever he says the word like in the wrong way and having trouble walking in his new pants.

Theater of Doom:
I really like this episode for intensity and the super dark tone it had. The Mummy of Frier Serra was really cool, scary, and menacing. It was pretty interesting that we had a fake mummy and a real mummy in one episode. Man the real mummy saying that the dog (Scooby Doo) will die gave me chills.

It was also pretty interesting that George Avocados finally turned out to be the culprit after so many episodes he appeared in and him trying to steal the diamond that his father stole years ago.

This is my favorite of the mummy episodes and one of my favorite episodes of SDMI overall. It was really cool that there was a real and fake mummy like you said. When I first watched this episode, I was shocked that they called back to "The Dog Dies" on the sign from "Creeping Creatures." I had thought it was just something the gator people were doing to scare the gang, not that it would be part of the overarching plot. I loved that they tied it into the overarching mystery. And of course, like you said it was funny that George Avocados was finally the culprit after the gang had suspected him twice before.

Ollie Ollie In-Come Free:
I thought this was a nice episode. I really like the Cat Mummy. They faced mummies before but this was a cat mummy. When I first saw him in the trailer I’m like wow a cat mummy that’s so creative. I also like that he can control cats.

This episode is also just like Scooby Doo and a Mummy Too. The Cat Mummy saying statue a lot just like the Mummy of Ankha saying coin a lot. Ollie looks like the cat in Mummy Too. The old lady was tied up in that coffin and Ricky just left her there. That’s just like Professor being tied up and gag and Shaggy just left him there. The culprits wanting to get something valuable in the statues.

Ricky Gervais I thought he was a good guest star. Yes, he dominated the episode but you can tell that he was into his role. I like how he said “Well Ollie that’s another find mess you’ve gotten me into”. That’s a reference to Laurel and Hardy. I also like that he did his own Scooby Doo theme song at the end of the episode.

The cat mummy was a super creative villain and the nods the "Scooby-Doo and a Mummy, Too!" were neat. I admittedly didn't really like Ricky Gervais. He dominated the episode too much and made it not as enjoyable as it could have been IMO. I'm really glad you enjoyed the episode so much, though!
