After last week's news that the trademark for Velma had been abandoned, most fans assumed that the show was dead. However, Deadline reported that an email sent out to WB employees mentioned Velma as if it was still happening. Here's the exact quote from the email:
Suzanna Makkos will now report into Amy Gravitt, Head of Comedy and EVP, Programming for HBO. Suzanna has led an incredibly successful comedy slate for Max Originals, punctuated by the acclaimed, Emmy-winning series Hacks, as well as The Sex Lives of College Girls, Rap S**t, and Julia, and also animated series including the upcoming Velma and Young Love. This transition will align our scripted comedy slate under one powerhouse, genre-redefining team; and by unifying this department under Amy, we’ll be able to maximize our effectiveness in continuing to build out our slate across both the HBO and Max Originals brand. Based on this, it seems like Velma may not have been cancelled after all. It still doesn't explain the trademark news from last week, but it's exciting to know that Holiday Haunt may be the only Scooby production that is not moving forward at the moment. Credit goes to Hippyboy86 for posting this news on the ScoobyAddicts forum.

At this point I wonder if Warner Bros. is ryun by the animaniacs, they seem to be run by lunatics.

That would be quite entertaining if they were run by the Animaniacs haha.

David Zaslav is really Daffy Duck in disguise, taking revenge on Warner Bros for Duck Amuck after all of these years

Considering Bah Humduck, it's a good shout.

I didn't think this was worth making another post for, but apparently HBO Max sent out a survey asking about the type of original programming people are interested in, with two of the options being Boomerang content and original animated series. This may mean that they aren't as firm on the "let's cancel everything" philosophy as we were fearing, since if they were just going to cancel all the animated original programming on HBO Max, they wouldn't send out a survey asking people what they thought.

Ngl, I'll be rather upset if they put this out and couldn't be bothered to give us Holiday Haunt which I was actually looking forward to.

That's fair, I guess my philosophy is more like Matt's below even though I was admittedly more excited about Holiday Haunt than Velma.

Well, that is some good news at least. We’ll take what we can get

This memo seems like a confirmation Velma (and a few other shows) are still in production, at this stage. Hope things won't change since it feels like new reports come out every couple of days, and I am kind of curious to check the show out if/when it premieres.

I hope nothing changes either. It feels like even WB doesn't know which direction they're going in these past few weeks haha.

I am extremely excited to hear this news as well as a bit more optimistic for the prospects of Scooby's future! I really hope it gets its chance to show audience's what the creators had in mind!

100% just think they are renaming it and maybe changing some details that fans have had issue with.

That certainly could be. Hopefully they're using this time to make an even better product that most fans will enjoy.

HBO Max is removing a lot of stuff this week and it's all down to residuals according to this guy. https://twitter.com/zander_cannon/status/1560257353953550337

That’s really interesting to hear they’ve removed so much! It definitely makes sense why they did it, although that probably means it will be more difficult to stream Scooby if they’re getting rid of the Boomerang app too. If they’re trying to cut costs, I can’t imagine they would keep Boomerang since they’ve basically abandoned the app and don’t add anything new anymore.

As someone that's not very interested in this show, I wholeheartedly agree.

Very well said and I couldn't agree more. I totally get that this show isn't for everyone, but it doesn't mean any of the previous content is ruined. It's pretty much confirmed this won't change the direction of the franchise, given the next show we're getting will be a preschool show, so as you said, this show is very easy to ignore if someone is that angry with the show's existence. Just take Arabian Nights as an example. It's pretty much universally thought that the film was one of the worst pieces of Scooby media out there, so everyone just ignores it. The same could happen with this show.

It is like, usually, the Scooby Doo fanbase just has a bunch of good vibes, way more than any other fanbase I have really engaged in, so seeing people act like this over something that we haven’t even seen is just very annoying

The Velma show has not been pretty at any point in time with the fanbase. A mindfield as soon as it was announced.

@Matt Yeah, it bums me out too. This is usually such a great fandom so it’s unfortunate to see people being so overly negative about something before enough information has been put out to fairly judge the show yet.

With the way HBOMax is now. I’ll have to see it to believe it. But if this does happen, then I’m looking forward to this show.

i have to say that warner's managment is a joke. I don't know why they have a boomerang service and not put everything in hbo max like disney does... Kinda irrelevant with the topic but i had to say it. The scooby franchise is in very bad hands

I don't understand why they keep the Boomerang service going, since they've basically abandoned it. Even the last 11 episodes of Guess Who haven't been put on there, despite that the series started airing on that platform.
