Hi wonderful Scooby fans!
Admittedly, I've been wanting to make this post for a long time. I've gotten quite a few emails through the contact form asking why I haven't been very active on the site's social media accounts lately. I've responded to everyone who's asked, but I wanted to explain in case others have the same question. I also logged into my Facebook account for the first time in several years yesterday (I hadn't realized it had been that long!), and noticed a lot of people sent friend requests and messages (some dating as far back as 2016) that I didn't respond to as I didn't see them before last night. First of all, I apologize for not responding to any of those. It certainly wasn't my intention to ignore anyone! I have now seen all your messages, though I didn't respond to some of them as many were outdated (a couple of them asked why the site was down back in 2016) or were just "can you plz follow me?" requests. I also have been not very active on Twitter since last August. Initially, I just was planning to take a few week break due to a busy-real life and some personal issues I was going through. I logged on again after those couple of weeks, just lurking and not posting anything. As I logged on and read everyone's posts, unfortunately all the lovely political animosity and anger was very prevalent throughout people's posts, even in certain Scooby fans I previously enjoyed following. This isn't to throw shade at anyone or say that people don't have a right to voice their own opinions. I have my own political views and feel strongly about certain issues, but I would never dream of shoving my opinions in anyone's face. It's a shame, but it seems like getting along with someone on Twitter has become synonymous with unconditionally agreeing with every single thing they think or believe. I won't go on, as you all are very likely aware of the political immaturity and volatility of social media, and how it seems to be getting worse and worse. However, it's made me lose interest in social media and it feels more frustrating than fun to post anything or interact with people. There are certainly a lot of good people on social media, but I'd rather avoid the negativity and intolerance for now. I'll just be honest and say Twitter scares me as a platform, as people have turned it from a fun place to chat and follow your interests into a political and social battleground. I don't mean to imply that I'm not ever going to post or interact on social media ever again...but for right now, I'd like to keep myself sheltered from the unnecessary negativity, as quite frankly I think all of us can agree there are enough negative things in life already without people being at each other's throats over petty arguments. I'll still maybe lurk a bit, but I'll probably continue to be inactive for the most part, at least for now. I also didn't respond to any of the friend requests on Facebook, as most of them were several months or years old and I doubt you want to follow me when I'm not really posting anything. I'll most likely to respond to them when/if I return! :) I hope you all can understand where I'm coming from and why I'm avoiding social media for the time being, and apologies for any inconvenience it may cause you all. And if you read this far, sorry for the ranty post. I'm in a mood! :/ - WildwindVampire
