While this isn't Scooby news, I just wanted to share another cool piece of artist studio merch for sale, courtesy of storyboard artist Scott Neely.

In 2011, Scholastic released a novelization of the Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated premiere. This was the only book in the series, and no other episodes ended up being novelized. Scott is currently selling a small handful of copies of this book, which he did the illustrations for, on eBay. There are five paperbacks and two hardcovers in total, all in brand new condition. Each book is autographed, and will have an original pencil hand sketch. The hardcover version of the book is very rare and was never sold in stores. The autographed paperback with an original sketch is currently listed for $50, and the hardcover is listed for $100. However, Scott was nice enough to again offer a discount exclusive to this site. If you enter "ScoobySnax" and $35 in the "make an offer" field for the paperback, Scott will give you a $15 discount from the list price. Sorry for not replying sooner. I was surprised to learn that a Mystery Incorporated book existed for younger readers. I personally don't see the point of such a book, since this episode, which sets the foundation for the series, introduces several important elements alongside the mystery. We can think of the romances, of course, but also the gang members' parents, the sheriff, the mayor, and the business model of Cristal Cove. It would be difficult to summarize all of this in a book of just a few pages. Mystery Incorporated might not be the best Scooby-Doo series for children's books. Series like Where Are You, What's New, The Scooby-Doo Show, or A Pup Named Scooby-Doo would probably be more appropriate, as the stories are more focused on the mystery.

Once again, I'll pass. I prefer to save up for the Flintstones movie release. Since Flintstones toys and DVDs are rather rare in my country, I hope to take advantage of the movie to see if the stores will be full of Flintstones products !

I've started watching the second season of Mystery Incorporated. I happened to find the Season 2 DVD in a library! I really hope this DVD will become more accessible in the future. Even volumes 1 and 2 are expensive.

I'm up to the Scarebear episode. Looking back, I'm surprised by the difference between seasons 1 and 2. I feel like season 1 was mostly about introducing elements that would be used in season 2. For example, the Destroido company is mentioned a lot in season 1, but it's much less present in season 2. The quest for the planispheric disk pieces also seems to only really starts in season 2. Pericles and Mr. E also appear a lot more in season 2 than in season 1. I was actually a little surprised by Mr. E's evolution. He didn't really come across as a villain in the first season, just as someone who was guiding Mystery Inc. towards the truth while opposing Pericles' plan. His alliance with Pericles disappointed me. I don't understand at all why the old Mystery Incorporated is collaborating with Pericles. I can't wait to finish the series to find out!

I also wish Daphne had played a more detached role from Fred. I can't imagine what she would be like as a character without Fred's presence. The problem with Daphne is that she's often underdeveloped in films and series where her relationship with Fred is foregrounded, except in the revival era. In my opinion, Daphne is at her best in the revival era, What's New, and the episodes with Scrappy-Doo, where she comes across as more resourceful. It's not about taking away the romance between Fred and Daphne, but rather developing other aspects of her personality, much like Fred's passion for traps.

I don't own the book personally, but I just looked it up and it appears they edited out all of the series exposition and overarching mystery components from the book. It just focuses on the gang solving the mystery of the Slime Mutant as if it's a standalone mystery.

That would be great if they made merch to promote Meet the Flintstones! I'm not a big merch collector myself, but hope they end up putting some out for those who want to collect it! :)

Yeah, the season 2 DVDs are super rare here too, especially part 1. From my understanding, only a limited amount were printed, and they're now out of print. Hope you're able to find part 2 at some point!

The series' vibe definitely felt a bit different in season 2, but I actually prefer it to season 1. I think both seasons are good, but I liked that there was less focus on the romantic drama in season 2, and more emphasis on the overarching mystery.

I completely agree with everything you said about Daphne! I think the series did a little bit better job of giving her a stronger personality than the first three series, but yeah, a lot of her character development is centered around Fred. I think there could have been a better balance where they still had other aspects of her character develop throughout the series, rather than focusing so much on her feelings for Fred.

I wish that "Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated" should have supposed to include higher quality versions of various sound effects from "Sonic 3 & Knuckles", "Sonic CD", "Doom" (PC and PlayStation ports), "Half-Life", "Quake II", "Quake III Arena", "Duke Nukem 3D" (Atomic Edition) and "Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project", "Heretic" and "Hexen: Beyond Heretic", "Kingpin: Life of Crime", "Return to Castle Wolfenstein" and "Rise of the Triad", the low-pitched version of the Howie Long scream from the 1980 film "The Ninth Configuration" and others, and as well as Penelope Pitstop being the main character alongside Scooby and the Gang (and being in her original "Wacky Races" design and outfit with her red pants and white boots) and voiced by Maggie Wheeler in her Steelheart voice from "SilverHawks" (1986), don't you think WildWindVampire?

BTW, Penelope Pitstop was also possibly considered and should have been intended to be in the "Scooby-Doo" franchise in her original "Wacky Races" design and outfit with her red pants and white boots.

The head of Warner Archive, George Feltenstein has already confimed on an episode of "A Podcast Named Scooby-Doo" that there should possibly be more Scooby-Doo physical releases coming in the near future, and Warner Archive are also currently working on restoring the entire H-B library (including "Wacky Races" (which has now been released on Blu-ray on April 29, 2025), "Dastardly and Muttley in Their Flying Machines" (which is now on MeTV Toons in the USA), "The Perils of Penelope Pitstop", "Inch High Private Eye", "Clue Club", "Hong Kong Phooey" and "Help!...It's the Hair Bear Bunch"), among many others.

Tough to say, since I don't have a strong preference for any of them, but the ones that stand out as most iconic to me are the ones in "Guess Who's Knott Coming to Dinner," "A Good Medium Is Rare" and "The Loch Ness Mess." What are your favorites?
