Check out this trailer for the next DTV, Scooby-Doo! The Sword and the Scoob!, which includes clever references to A Pup Named Scooby-Doo and Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated! Though there's no official release date yet, it's been confirmed by SyfyWire that the film will be released in early 2021. Since the film will be released in France on February 24, 2021, I imagine it will be around that time. The movie is also apparently a homage to the film A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court.
Here's the official description for the film from SyfyWire: When Scooby, Shaggy, Daphne, Velma, and Fred travel to jolly ol' England, they come face-to-face with the evil sorceress known as Morgan le Fay (Griffin), who, using the magic of Stonehenge, transports them back to the age chivalrous knights, spell-casting wizards, and fire-breathing dragons. There, they meet King Arthur Pendragon of Camelot, whose appetite is as legendary as his sword, Excalibur. When Shaggy is suddenly kidnapped by Morgan, Arthur inducts Scooby, Fred, Daphne, and Velma into the Knights of the Round Table, relying on them to stop the witch and save his throne.

I'm thinking they used that image from Mystery Incorporated because it showed Velma with a classic villain in a more modern art style that fits in sytlistically better, rather than there being a connection with the show (at least I hope so, since Mystery Incorporated seemed pretty clearly in a different universe from the rest of the cartoons).

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. I thought it was cool of them to slip that reference in though!

OMG I am so EXCITED!!! also I think your right about the orignal description being a bit clunky because I notice some differences between the trailer and the original french description.

Yeah, I think Google Translate (which is what I used to translate the French description) just didn't translate certain words well.

Oh well I don't think it matters that much and too be honest I think I perfer this plot that the original french one and I'm not say that the french one was bad because even If we had the original french one I still would go and see the movie but imo I like the current description/plot more than the french one. 12/8/2020 05:51:03 pm
Oh no, it’s definitely not a big deal. I like this description a lot better too!

Wow this was a fun and different trailer than any other other Scooby doo movie I’ve seen. It looks so cool and awesome. Can’t wait till this movie comes out. I’m super exited. It also kind of funny. I always wonder would they do a movie like this. At the time I was thinking of a title called medieval Scooby doo or Scooby doo in medieval times. Just like that, it came in reality.

Yes! I’ll be interested to see if they choose to have the time travel be real or not.

I can already see the bonus episodes: Scared a Lot in Camelot, Large Dragon at Large, and A Run Cycle Through Time. What you guys think?

I'll guess Scared a Lot in Camelot, Wizards and Warlocks, and Large Dragon at Large. A Run Cycle Through Time would be a good choice too!

This was a great trailer! Some of the animation, specifically Shaggy’s model and Scooby’s ear coloration look different, and it looks to be just as if not more action-packed than the last one! I’m glad that the Scooby movies have been consistently fun since at least Batman: The Brave and the Bold (ignoring Return to Zombie Island, which without any context of the original just didn’t have a feature-length sustaining plot), and seeing them take that fun to insanely new heights is a delight! Whether the time travel ends up being real or not (I’m hoping it is, of course), I fee confident that much like Happy Halloween this will get fans cheering together again!

The animation does look a bit different actually! I'm thinking since Maxwell Atoms wrote this film that it will be amazing like Happy Halloween! I noticed you didn't mention Curse of the 13th Ghost with Return to Zombie Island. Did you like that film?

Yes, I did like Curse of the 13th Ghost! I think it was a very good Scooby film. Great animation, genuinely cool monster, an exciting story and setting! Plus it does a GREAT job of growing Flim Flam up! I do dislike the ending, but not because of Velma’s studio-enforced retconning, it’s because the redemption twist has zero set-up in any other part of the film and it isn’t even explained how it was that he redeemed himself. He pushed the car off a cliff for the badguy to get arrested I guess, but.... won’t he just escape the handcuffs again like he did the first time? Seems like he did what I assume would be considerably less than the bare minimum to get a demonic soul redeemed, haha! But a weak ending doesn’t detract from the fun film as a whole for me. 12/11/2020 04:01:22 pm
Interesting! I dislike the ending as well, plus the glaring inconsistencies/plot holes that are created by the film that I feel could have been avoided. However, I really wanted to like the film and I agree certain parts are good, but unfortunately the ending and continuity errors with the series kinda ruined it for me. I'm super glad you were able to enjoy the film though :)

I really hope they don't make the time travel fake. Also, I was thinking if SDMI is canon like the trailer says, does that mean the Evil Entity is loose again? Lol

As long as there is absolutely no real supernatural element I’m ok with them making the time travel real. Also I wouldn’t look to deep into the SDMI thing I was listening into a video where Maxwell Atoms explained his process in making the movie and he literally said, “I just binged watched all the Scooby series and cherry picked what I liked and put it in the movie” so it’s just a fun reference nothing to look too seriously into. 12/9/2020 12:56:51 pm
Yeah, I'm not looking too deeply into it either. I've seen that video as well, and I can't imagine they'd explore the Evil Entity plotline again. Just food for thought I wanted to point out haha.

Or the cop out was it/wasn't real ending like with the KISS movie and 13 ghosts 12/10/2020 09:30:09 am
I think a lot of fans would be very upset if that happened, so hopefully they've learned their lesson.

I’m genuinely excited for this one! The trailer production alone seems so much higher for this film, the cover art for it is gorgeous! The animation looks to be the same as ‘Frankencreepy’ and ‘Moon Monster Madness,’ which feels like the colors are washed out a bit but I’m sure it’ll look good in the full movie. I’m really hoping the time traveling is real even if the villain ends up being fake, Velma didn’t seem skeptic in the trailer so here’s to hoping they’ve worked out her character by now (though I did enjoy her arch in ‘Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo!) Overall I think we unfortunately ended the last decade on a sour note with RTZI, but it seems to be picking back up at full speed with ‘Happy Halloween’ and now this one. Also just want to point out that I love that Shaggy got kidnapped, I think it’ll be a really cool dynamic to see Scooby interact with the gang without Shaggy rather than Shaggy and Scooby getting separated from the rest of the gang. The throwbacks were fun too with ‘A Pup Named Scooby-Doo,’ ‘Mystery Incorporated,’ and ‘The Beach Beastie.’

Yeah, the trailer production was top notch! It makes me even more excited for this film than I have for some others. I'm hoping they've worked out Velma's character too so she's not a super annoying skeptic like she has been in the past three films (though like you, I didn't mind her in Happy Halloween). I also liked the Shaggy got kidnapped. We so rarely get to see the rest of the gang with Scooby alone, because those two are always together (reminds me a little of "Grasp of the Gnome," which maybe they'll choose as a bonus episode). I totally missed the Beach Beastie reference though!

I suspect The Sword and the Scoob will get released in the us in march on DVD, the thing to bear in mind is that Happy Halloween got released in the middle of september on DVD in europe. (region 2) but in the us it was released on october, I suspect a similar thing, wil happen to this movie also at least it is a possibility. also I doubt the time travel thing, will turn out to be real.

It actually isn't Atoms writing this movie! It's the Return to Zombie Island guy Jeremy Atoms according to the press release. Maxwell Atoms is just the producer and director.

With Atoms producing that should hopefully shape the film into what he would like it to be. Conversations along the lines of “No Jeremy you’re not writing fake time travel. Have you seen your Return To Zombie Islands ratings and reviews on imdb?” may have happened lol. With Atoms behind the wheel I’m sure we will get a good final product. 12/12/2020 11:15:09 am
Hahaha I really hope so. :) And oh yeah, I forgot he wrote Scoobynatural too! Still very much looking forward to the film!

It seems awesome and fun and it tries showing it's trying something new/different. But sadly, I think other trailers have been better even though I loved this one.
