Important update: The new press release has confirmed that the film will be directed and produced by Maxwell Atoms, but not written by him. Jeremy Adams, who wrote Return to Zombie Island, will be writing this film. There goes the idea of the time travel being real lol.
Amazon France has just added a listing for the anticipated King Arthur's Court DTV, which now seems to be retitled "Scooby-Doo! The Sword and the Scoob!" The new film will be written once again by Maxwell Atoms, and will be 1 hour and 12 minutes long. There's no listing on Amazon US yet, but since the France release date is February 24, I imagine we'll be getting a trailer very soon! I translated the description listed, which is a bit clunky. Sounds like this will definitely be a very different type of film than we are used to. Find Scooby's gang as they are cursed by the ghost of Morgan Le Frey and sent back to the time of King Arthur, who is under the control of an evil witch. Wanting to cut himself a piece of cheese, Shaggy involuntarily pulls Excalibur from his stone which sows doubt on who is the legitimate sovereign! Merlin, the legendary wizard, appears and declares that the throne of Camelot must be played out in a duel! Our heroes then make every effort to try to win the tournament, break the spell under which King Arthur is and find the way to the present! Thanks so much to Gross108 for sharing this link with me!

I'm sure they will choose to explain it that way, but I wouldn't mind if it was real either as I stated in another comment on this thread.

Exciting news! I’ve been looking forward to this one. If all is accurate, that’s awesome that Maxwell Atoms is returning as the writer. He did such a great job with “Happy Halloween” in my opinion. I have to admit I liked the “King Arthur’s Court” title better if indeed it has been renamed. But nonetheless I’m excited and hopefully they will release a trailer this month!

I'm super excited Maxwell Atoms will be returning as well if everything in the listing is accurate. I loved Happy Halloween. I'm not crazy about this new title either, but I'm hopefully we'll get a trailer before the end of the year!

Worth noting that Sammy is the Shaggy's name in french. Might wanna clarify that in the post, and also on ScoobyAddicts, as someone asked who Sammy is.

Ohh, I was like, who the heck is Sammy?!? That makes so much for sense now! I'll fix that in the post and on my post on ScoobyAddicts. Thank you for the clarification!

Yeah, I also think the time travel stuff will be fake based on the direction that the movies have been going lately.

When I first saw the new title I was confused a little bit and was like it like a mix of Scooby doo and the samurai sword or the sword the fox and the Scooby doo and Scoob. I’m exited though and hopefully we’ll see the trailer soon enough. I also agree it sounds like the Malcolm McDowell episode.

I hope it is something different like goblin king. The description is promising and i'm super hyped. I hope it's happy halloween level of good but without Velma's personality from the last 3 movies. Thanks for the info.

I 100% agree with everything you said: I hope it's like Goblin King, I hope it's as good as Happy Halloween, I don't want Velma's personality from the last 3 films (though I fear it will be since it's the same writer as one of the films, but maybe not). I also don't love the new title.

I hope it does NOT have anything supernatural in it. Scoobys all about debunking the supernatural not proving it. Plus we already have 8 cartoon movies, all the live action movies, the SCOOB movie, and Scoobynatural with real supernatural elements. That’s more than enough for a franchise that’s about disproving the supernatural.

Yeah you do have a point and you're right. Scooby Doo should stay with the Scooby Doo formula. I know a lot of people hate when the supernatural is real in Scooby Doo. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Real monster is the best thing. You're crazy.

Yeah. I mean, I love most of the "the monster is real" movies, but I prefer the "just some crook in a mask". The charm of the series is, after all, a group of kids unmasking crooks in costumes with their dog. Would be disappointed if the ghost witch was real and everything wasn't just a big fume trip. I mean sure, real zombies and vampires and mummies etc. are fun, but it kind of ruins the charm. Hope it will be like the Kiss movie with a supernatural side but a realistic story. Well, as realistic Scooby Doo can get...

I understand your opinion, but does that mean you hated Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island (the original one) or are you just tired of the supernatural elements in Scooby-Doo being real? 12/2/2020 08:27:24 pm
I guess I don't mind either way, but I absolutely understand and respect your point, Fred's Ascot.

First of all @Guilherme don’t call me crazy for stating an opinion. To me real monsters are not the best things and in my opinion is one of the worst things to me about the franchise. Again that’s MY opinion and I’m entitled to it.

I really hope that when the Courage The Cowardly Dog DTV crossover comes out on DVD that it will have the lost 1999 crossover "Scare-a-thon" as a bonus feature. If it doesn't come out there, I don't think it ever will.

Even if the time travel does turn out to be fake, I'm just so glad it's not "the Gang Visit the local Renaissance Fair". It was fine when WN and MI did it, but I like it when the DTV movies have a bigger scope to them ala Moon Monster Madness.

Yeah I agree that it is nice to not have the plot be about a renaissance fair as well but I have a feeling that it is going to start with the gang at a renaissance fair but I wouldn't mind because the main plot isn't about the fair.

in other news some rather bad news, for VRV streaming users.acccording to twitter Boomerang is no longer available on VRV, to stream. that means nobody will be able watch to scooby-doo content on the VRV streaming platform anymore.since all the the boomerang content is gone from that site.I think this a bad omen.

I don’t think the time travel being fake is going to make or break the movie to be honest. As long as it’s a quality film and keeps my attention that’s all that matters. A movie can have real time travel and still stink lol.

I don't really care that the time travel stuff might not be real because weather or not the supernatural stuff doesn't really judge the quality of the movie and yes return to zombie and curse and the 13th ghost didn't have real monsters despite them being sequels to movies/series with real monsters in it but I don't see them as bad movies but as bad sequels because on their own imo their not that bad but my point is I don't think it matters weather or not it has real supernatural elements but weather or not the movie is good I'm not going to say that reluctant werewolf was good because it had real monsters in it and I'm not going to say happy halloween scooby doo was bad because it didn't yeah I know the twist didn't make that much sense but it didn't matter to me that much because I enjoyed the movie so yeah weather or not it has real supernatural elements in it I'm really excited for sword and the scoob

I personally love Happy Halloween. You worded that in a great way: Return to Zombie Island and Curse of the 13th Ghost aren't bad movies on their own, they're just bad sequels. I also think the movie will be good regardless of whether the time travel is real or not. My only worry is that I hope they don't explain it in a dumb/cheesy way that doesn't make sense like Curse of the 13th Ghost or Return to Zombie Island.

Yeah return to zombie island and curse of the thirreenth ghost had dumb explanations but I don't think it is going to be as dumb as those explanations mostly because those were sequels to movies/series had supernatural elements in them while happy halloween scooby doo and the upcoming the sword and the scoob aren't okay their was the fact that we couldn't see the drones when the pumpkins were smashed and the fact that the sheriff let them go back to mystery solving for no reason but the rest of the plan wasn't really that dumb to me.

I didn't find the Happy Halloween explanation to be dumb either, so I imagine this movie will be similarly enjoyable especially with Maxwell Atoms producing and directing it.

Yeah, Jeremy Adams wrote RTZI, but don't forget he wrote Scoobynatural as well, one of the best Scooby projects in 10 years. He's written other animated stuff, like Mortal Kombat: Scorpion's Revenge (2020), which was really good, and Batman: Soul of the Dragon (2021), which looks great. Going through his filmography on IMDb, he's done a lot of Lego stuff, including the Lego Scooby-Doo shorts, which weren't bad.

I'd forgotten he'd done Scoobynatural, and I didn't realize he wrote the LEGO shorts! That gives me a little more hope. I will admit I think Return to Zombie Island is a bit better than Curse of the 13th Ghost, but that's possibly because I had higher hopes for the latter of the movies because I didn't know these "sequels" that they were doing wouldn't live up to the originals.

What’s so bad about Jeremy Adams potentially making the time-travel in this movie fake?
Reply

It's not bad per se, I just personally don't want another cheesy "well, it was swamp gas" ending like Return to Zombie Island because it feels like a major cop-out. If it's fake and they have a cool explanation as for why, I'm totally fine with it. I've just personally never been a fan of the "it was all a dream" type endings.

Alright, I just wanted the time displacement to be real (think of Samurai Jack for example). I’ll still be fine if it isn’t. 12/17/2020 08:51:57 pm
I've actually never seen Samurai Jack, but yeah, I'm fine if the time travel isn't real too. Leave a Reply. |
