Boomerang has finally announced that the long awaited Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? would be premiering on Thursday, June 27 on the Boomerang streaming service. Going with the traditional one-per-week television format, one new episode of the series will be added to the service every Thursday. The first season will be comprised of 13 episodes, and the final episode will be posted on September 19. The first episode will feature famous NBA star Chris Paul.
For those that don't have the service, Cartoon Network television network will also be airing a new episode each week beginning Monday, July 8. Presumably, if they go with the same one-per-week format, the series finale would air on Monday, September 30. A trailer (available for viewing above) was also released, which confirmed some brand new guest-stars. Besides Chris Paul, who will be in the first episode, confirmed guest stars for the show so far include Halsey, Sia, Ricky Gervais, Weird Al Yankovic, Wanda Sykes, Kenan Thompson, Penn & Teller, Whoopi Goldberg, Bill Nye the Science Guy, Mark Hamill and Jim Gaffigan. Fictional guest stars include Batman (Kevin Conroy), Sherlock Holmes (Ian James Corlett), Steve Urkel (Jaleel White), Wonder Woman (Rachel Kimsey), The Flash, and the Funky Phantom gang. 16th president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln will also guest-star in one episode, though he will be voiced by John DiMaggio as he's obviously not alive anymore. Not in the US? No problem! Boomerang channels in other countries will begin airing the show at some point later this year. I'm really glad that the show is finally premiering, and also that it will be airing on the Cartoon Network channel for those who don't have the streaming service. Personally, I don't have the streaming service, so I was initially a bit worried that I wouldn't be able to see the show without subscribing. Sources for this information include The Futon Critic, IGN, LATimes, TVInsider and KidScreen. You can also check out these GIFs from the Weird Al and Batman episodes.

I'm so hyped!!! I hope the episode with Halsey is in this season! 😁 But 13 episodes seems too little. I was hoping for 26 per season, 52 total.

Yes, one can only hope the queen of cuteness will grace us with her presence in the first season. :)

I follow one of the crew members on Instagram and she uploaded a photo of her office door with a Guess Who sign (like the one we first saw) and the caption said "52 episodes to come". So I guess they're splitting the seasons in half. Either that or we're getting 4 seasons of 13 episodes, which I doubt. 6/21/2019 06:14:38 pm
Hmm, interesting. I bet they are splitting the seasons then. Thanks so much for the info!

In the description of the trailer it says season finale on September 19th so either 4 seasons or she's lying

YES!!! After seeing the reveal trailer today, I wasn't too interested in the celebrities that were confirmed. I said to myself that it would be amazing to see Weird Al. AND HERE HE IS!!!!! WATCHING FOR SURE!!!

I'm super excited they brought Weird Al Yankovic back! I thought Abe Lincoln as a guest star was a particularly odd choice.

I just finished watching my brand new dvd of the Lost Scooby-Doo Movies. I kept thinking how many kids would be going "Who?" for guest stars like Sandy Duncan, Davey Jones and Jerry Reed.

Same here. I couldn't pick Halsey, Sia, or Chris Paul out of lineup if my life depended on it!

"I suppose when all is said and done I might actually know what a Halsey is." Hahaha. I'm excited for the Bill Nye and Batman episode as well. Sherlock will be interesting if they do something different with him, as they've already teamed up with him several times in "The Night Ghoul of Wonderworld" and "Sherlock Doo."

I’m probably just asking a dumb question but is Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? really going to air on the Cartoon Network and is there a time for it to premiere?

Are you not in the US? I thought you would've for sure had the Boomerang app considering all the Scooby content it has.

I am in the US, I'm just a bit stubborn haha. I already have Netflix and Amazon and am not really too keen on paying for stuff I already have. I bought all the missing episodes digitally on iTunes years ago, so there was never really a need to subscribe. But it is indeed an amazing service and I'm glad it exists for those who don't have the missing episodes.

Ah of course, should've guessed you already had all the shows they've got on there! 6/21/2019 10:34:18 pm
I was wondering the same thing myself. I hope they'll put them on the app at some point, as from a completionist standpoint, it's a bit pointless to leave off those episodes given every other Scooby episode is on there.

I could not be happier with this animation style. Can’t wait to check it out. Although I loved Mystery Incorporated, as well as the art style, I’m glad to see a return to what looks like the original art style.

Totally agree. I enjoyed both Mystery Incorporated and Be Cool, Scooby-Doo but in both cases the radically different character designs were not as appealing as the traditional versions. Nice to see that the creative team for the new show is taking a familiar approach.

I'm very fond of this animation style as well. I got used to the BCSD one after a while, and the comedy and excellent writing more than made up for it, but I definitely prefer this style of animation.

Great news... Classic design, classic mysteries, classic scooby series. I liked a lot SDMI and BCSD but i missed the original gang storyline. I am not super excited with some parts {most of the guests, monsters design so far} but that's ok. I mean i wrote the worst when BCSD was announced and in the end i loved the series. I hope we 'll enjoy it

Totally agree about Daphne is BCSD! It was the greatest leap forward for the characters as a group, probably ever. Without her quirk of the week, poor Daphne is often relegated to damsel in distress. It was nice to see them address this in the recent 13 Ghosts movie but I liked the BCSD approach better than making her a female Fred.

100% agree with this as well. Awesome message for kids as well about being your unique self and embracing your quirks in real life.

I wasn’t expecting this until September. I love the traditional looking animation and character designs they went for here. Looks to be a perfect visual companion to the original series and the New Scooby Movies which were just coincidentally released on blu ray. Definitely looking forward to the Batman, Ricky Gervais and Mark Hamill episodes

I doubt the New Scooby-Doo Movies DVD release was a coincidence. I kinda feel like they tried to line up the release with when the Guess Who series would be released, maybe just to get fans in the mindset of the whole "celebrity guest star" thing.

Extremely weak promo, but I am not giving up on this. A lot of people bashed BE COOL, which is one of my favorites and although these guest "stars" are mostly nobodys, it really doesn't matter if the Scoob Gang does their thing.

I think a lot of the ones they picked are ones that kids (in the US) would probably know, i.e. famous singers like Halsey and Sia, superheroes etc. But yeah some of the choices are indeed odd, like what kid is going to know Jim Gaffigan? His humor seems cleaner than most stand-up comedians, but he does make a lot of self-deprecating fat jokes, which I'd think in this day and age probably wouldn't sit so well with many parents.

Felt that was quite a good promo. Looks like it has a very classic and nostalgic feel to it for the adult fans whilst mixing in some famous faces to get the kids interested. Looking forward to it. If it's anything like other modern cartoons nowadays it won't be long before it's on other sites as well, that's how I've mostly been able to keep up with more recent adaptations. BCSD release schedule was a joke.

I'm sure it will be on places like WatchCartoonOnline or whatever other less-than-legal sites there are. Especially once it airs on Cartoon Network.

Yeah I remember wondering when season 2 of BCSD was coming out before suddenly finding part of it from Australian airings on one of these sites. Let us hope they do better with the release schedule this time around. Kimcartoon is one I've often found useful. 6/23/2019 02:36:01 pm
I don't trust KimCartoon anymore with all the pop-up ads, to be honest. WatchCartoonOnline doesn't have any yet (let's hope never), so that's the only one I watch anything on at this point.
