I think this episode was a slight improvement upon the Joey Chestnut one, but not much. The plot was completely reused from "Ready to Scare" from What's New, Scooby-Doo?, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I didn't feel like too much original was done with it that hasn't already been done before, however.
I liked the element of Gigi Hadid being Velma's friend from criminal psychology class. Overall, Gigi was a pretty good guest star! I got annoyed by the "Gigi Hadid!!!" song with holy music playing in the background. That could have been a one-time joke, and didn't need to be done over and over like they did. I enjoyed how they started out with the gang already working to solve the mystery, instead of them running into it. It provided a nice change of pace. On the other hand, the mystery did seem a bit rushed in this one and some of the jokes (especially the monkey ones) seemed a bit kiddish for my liking. I'm also still not enjoying the constant door scenes every single episode, but I imagine that will probably be a trope throughout the entire series. Overall, this was a decent episode but was middle-of-the-road for me and not anything super special. Ironically, the episode lands right in the middle of my current rankings, at #16/31. I don't think there is much to say aside from it was average. I wasn't a fan of the monkey joke, and the Gigi Hadid intro thing got stale but it was only used like three times so it was tolerable. I liked the gargoyle design, it reminded me of the BCSD gargoyle. I think because this episode was average and there wasn't anything I terriblely disliked, it ranks just slightly above average. I do have to give credit to Gigi, she did seem into the role.

Good episode Gigi was really into the role and I like how they would say her name in that chanted music

A respectable guest star who wasn't to overbearing and blended in well with the gang and I loved the throwback to the very first Scooby Doo episode with the whole counterfeit paintings bit and numerous suspects to! Sadly this episode loses numerous points for a lacklustre generic villain, it would have been neat if they went with a french knight or something similar, another animation error, the train on the opposite platform suddenly disappears at the end of the doors scene, and the horrible monkey scene. But a few added points for the supermodel scene still. Overall tough one, but 17/31

We almost agreed on the ranking! Lol I had ranked it 16/31 on my rankings. I wish they would have gone for a more original villain too instead of just reusing the gargoyle like in WNSD. I didn't notice that animation error! There was a small one in the last episode with Joey Chestnut. "Big Eddy" is sometimes hyphenated on the scoreboard, and other times the hyphen disappears.

14:24-14:30, take a look! Yeah, I liked the episode but there were to many negatives, thus I'd stick it at the bottom end of my good ones list. They could have totally made this into a homage to What a Knight for a Knight if they'd just thought about it for two minutes!

Oh, yep, just watched the clip and you're right! I'll add that to the trivia, on the episode guide thanks! :)

There is nothing wrong with bringing in an original monster than reusing another one. What if the monster was the ghost of a French cavalier.

Yea this episode for me was worse than the last. Too many of the jokes felt forced and very uncomfortable (like when shaggy and Scooby were dancing), the already used plot and some scenes felt lazy, and I don’t even know what they were going for with Velma and GiGi being related. Overall a pretty bad episode :(

You know, I didn't mind Velma and Gigi knowing each other from Criminal Psychology. It was cute. How that was relevant or worthwhile to Gigi career wise, I'm not sure, maybe she just wanted to study it? Idk. The Shaggy/Scooby dancing joke was dumb though.

True but there have been so many guest stars either related to the gang or are friends with them in some way. It just bothered me that they are using the same idea but nonetheless good points 10/8/2020 09:09:07 am
Okay, makes sense why it would bother you. I agree though it's a bit unrealistic to have that many guest stars know the gang, but nonetheless that's the premise of this series.

while I do agree that this episodes plot feels similar to the What's New, Scooby-Doo? episode "Ready to Scare" but that doesnt mean I was not okay with it.

Strange, I never saw the other comment. I'm never intentionally trying to ignore anyone if I don't respond to their comment, it's just because I haven't seen it for whatever reason, either because it didn't show up in the comment feed (which occasionally happens for older posts) or I somehow missed it.

But like as I said already it was really Gigi's art design that stole the episode for me.
