Scooby-Doo and the Haunted High Rise Background and Storyboard Leaked on Twitter

To continue the leaking spree from the past couple weeks, a Twitter account named ScoobyGossip posted two backgrounds from the canceled Scooby-Doo and the Haunted High Rise movie. Given the Twitter account is following nobody and nobody follows it, presumably this was another internal leak from an anonymous person working at WB. One of them is a background of a record store, reading "Oakhaven Records," confirming that at least part of the movie would have taken place in Oakhaven. The other is a rough draft of a storyboard, although presumably the animation style used in that storyboard would not have been in the final product.

I managed to watch "Scooby Doo! and Krypto, Too!" and it was an amazing movie. My favorite part was definitely the chase scene and the moment between Fred and Daphne in the locker room was silly and cute. I just hope WBD reconsiders cancelling these movies, because these are actually more interesting and better than that Velma series that dares to call itself part of the franchise.

Agreed the chase scene and song were a lot of fun! Yeah, I am really hopeful they release these someday as well. Given how much press the cancellations have gotten at this point, it would be great if WB could put the cancelled films out once they get back to a better financial place.

So we were gonna get a full on Witch’s Ghost successor with Oakhaven officially returning, just like Return To Zombie Island but done right? God, what a tragedy… also those seem like Hex Girls funko pops.. cute. Also, can people stop dragging Velma? It’s literally not its fault that all these projects are canceled and some people (me included) really enjoy that show, so let it breathe my god. Production teams and executive decisions are entirely different for each separate project

Seems so, yeah. I hope they would have done it right and not repeated Return to Zombie Island. I also thought that the drawings looked like Funko Pops. I'm unsure about whether they were planning to use that type of animation in the actual movie but I assume they were just stand-in drawings for the storyboard.

@Scoobylover

I'm not saying "Velma" is the reason that these projects are being cancelled, I've had little expectations about the show and after watching the first season, I feel like it was an adult spinoff not done right, but that it sometimes felt more of an insult. I'll admit the animation was nice and it had an interesting mystery, but was held back due to it being overshadowed by the shock humor and some plots that didn't really belong, along with the main characters just being horrible people, with Norville being the best out of all of them.

To put it simply, it was "meh ok" and definitely not a rewatchable series for me, and what I said about the show in my last comment does seem mean spirited, I mean that the show just didn't feel like it belonged because of how it turned out. If people want to watch and keep watching it, that is fine. I'm just gonna skip it and watch the content that came before until something else comes along.

From what I understand, the recent Discovery merger was used to offload a ton of debt by a prior company so the new owners are basically trying to get themselves back to profitable through some... honestly wild choices, I don't disagree with a lot of them, but I am angry that they can just shove off debt that way and make a company that could survive basically have to start bailing wildly to even hopefully do so.

It is crazy to me that they could have two movies that were entirely finished that they'd just cancel never to have see the light of day just to have it as a tax write-off. I'm hopeful things will settle over at WB in the next year or two once they cancel enough projects to get back to a financially stable place, because this is not at all a sustainable model.

Agreed, if nothing else, the good will costs will stay on long term... granted the person running the company now made his name basically turning the learning channel into.... well what it is NOW, so I have little hope as long as he's in charge.

That's really interesting, I was not aware about Zaslav's background before WB. Apparently he also created the Oprah channel which is surprising. Sadly, I also do not hold out much hope when he's in charge.

Despite Velma being absolute garbage, it's true that it's not that show's fault the other projects get cancelled.

Maybe this was a blessing in disguise. Knowing WB recently, they would have found someway to mess it up, like attempting to once again dismiss the original through lazy writing and reasoning.

You may be right. Would have been an awesome film if it stayed true to the original, though.

That’s the thing for me, this is very much a boom or bust thing. I still would have very much preferred the movie been released so we could all give it a chance itself but after Return to Zombie Island and Curse of the 13th Ghost, seeing this made me raise an eyebrow

Same for me unfortunately.

Agreed, Personally I doubt they would have recognised the original for what it was considering 13th and Zombie Island,, either ignoring it completely or putting it down to a mass hallucination or a projector used by Ben Ravencroft.

Saying that everything that happened at the end of Witch's Ghost was just a projector would have been horrifying haha.

This is getting insane with the leaks, wild times for the franchise. And the storyboards are just sketches, they're not supposed to be the actual designs.

Yeah, we've gotten more leaks in two weeks than in the history of the franchise, which is insane. And yeah, that's what I figured.

Man, the leaks just keep coming.
Well, something is better than nothing, I guess, but losing a Hex Girls project is really heart-rending.

Interesting thing is, if they can't monetize these cancelled projects, then if they sue for damages over the leaks, does that mean they lose their tax write-offs?

It is crazy to me we’ve gotten more leaks in the past two weeks than in the history of the entire franchise! Not sure on how all the legal stuff works, but it will be very interesting to see if they retroactively try to release this to make up the money lost if they lose their ability to write it off.

Here's another undeservingly cancelled one. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Fi4SHU1iOBg

EDIT: Please ignore the last comment that I've just posted. It was unintentional.

No worries, I deleted the extra comments for you. It's a bummer that one was cancelled, although that's a bit different than the current ones, as that one was just a pitch that didn't get picked up, whereas Holiday Haunt, Haunted High Rise and Krypto Too were finished or in the late stages of production when they were cancelled.

It was planned to have been the next show after What's New ended its The WB/Kids' WB. The WB shut down along with UPN after the Fall 2005-Spring 2006 season.

In Fall 2006, they merged and became The CW. Despite that, Kids' WB remained as a Saturday Morning cartoon block. The shows that premiered on there were Get a Clue, Tom and Jerry Tales, and Legion of Super Heroes.

WB planned on releasing the show with Dexter Smith's designs, but for unknown reasons, they decided to go with Get a Clue.

let's be honest probably was a good thing it wasn't made as modern scooby content tends to spit in the face of older scooby doo content that is loved my fans

Ok, now when you say "it", do you mean this film or the series with Dexter Smith's designs? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Fi4SHU1iOBg

He responded directly to the article, which is exclusively about Haunted High Rise – he's obviously talking about the film

Ben Ravencroft didn't really die and he can escape such as his ancestor Sarah did (Perhaps he could have been saved by a Ravencroft fanatic or something). The hex girls could return and the tone would the same as witch's ghost It os a nice idea for a sequel if you ask me

Now after 2 failed sequels and the whole WB situation i can't say i am excited for this one. Hope WB won't cancel it though

I think that's a great idea for a sequel! Unfortunately, it's already been cancelled. I think that's why this was leaked.

Btw, I sent you an email related to our timeline. :)
