Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? Episode 9 Review

This was not a great episode, admittedly.

The location and backgrounds were the only thing I liked about the episode. The characters themselves were a bit bland, and I felt like Fred, Daphne and Velma's dialogue was almost interchangeable. None of the jokes were particularly funny, and knowing Jim Gaffigan's humor style from his comedy specials, this felt watered down and unlike his character. The monster was okay, nothing horrible but nothing special either.

While I didn't hate this episode, I felt like this episode was just lackluster. It felt rushed, and none of the jokes were particularly funny. There was just nothing notable in this episode.

And now it's time for the Star-Studded Scoreboard!

Star-Studded Scoreboard:
1. Elementary, My Dear Shaggy!
2. When Urkel-Bots Go Bad!
3. The Cursed Cabinet of Professor Madds Markson!
4. Revenge of the Swamp Monster!
5. The Scooby of a Thousand Faces!
6. Peebles' Pet Shop of Terrible Terrors!
7. Ollie Ollie In-come Free!
8. The Fastest Food Fiend!

9. A Mystery Solving Gang Divided

now its time for my opinion on the episode

the last comedian of the episode (ricky gervais) was actually not that bad of a episode. But this guy wasnt really that funny.
Whenever the episode is bad, I always seem to find good jokes but it felt rushed and it didnt really have a mystery.
The monster was alright but he wasnt related to food. He could have been a better monster for a race setting or something.
And I know for a fact that Shaggy and SCOoby doo eat way faster than what they did in this episode. Since I always see them put like 5 - 6 burgers in their mouth. And they were taking little kid bites.
And last but not least the moldy burger and the ketchup as the prize was just not cool.

It felt super rushed! Jim Gaffigan is funnier in his other comedy specials, but this was really bad. The monster also didn't feel appropriate for the food setting as you said. They could have done something like they did with the Gluten Demon in "The Devouring" from SDMI, but instead we got this. The 70 year old burger thing was disgusting!

I guess this episode is to me as the Sherlock Holmes episode was to you guys. I thought that there wasn't anything major to complain about and was just a decent episode. The gross things like the old hamburger I just chalked up to cartoon logic.

I guess I'm a little confused, are you saying you thought this episode was as good as a lot of people thought the Sherlock episode was?

If so, that's a fair opinion and I agree there was nothing to dislike, I just felt very meh about the whole thing.

That's what I meant. I wasn't a big fan of episode 4 but I really liked this episode.

Interesting. I can see how someone would like this episode, I just found it bland personally. Hopefully I'll enjoy Weird Al more.

Before this episode, I neither knew nor cared who Jim Gaffigan was. After watching it, nothing has changed.

All I know now is that Jim Gaffigan is a guy who eats a lot. If not for the tags the gang puts on him when they first meet him ("It's writer/producer/whatever/who cares, Jim Gaffigan") I would just have assumed him to be a made up character like the brothers or the old lady Nothing about him was interesting or engaging for me.

The episode was "meh" and serves as a perfect example of Wildwind Vampire's problem with the guest star shows, namely his presence pushed the gang to the background (except for Scooby and Shaggy's eating) and made the episode too much about him and not enough about fun/the gang/any of the reasons I watch Scooby-Doo/mystery solving.

Plus, for me at least, cartoon car racing is only slightly less boring than actual car racing.

They really did not do Jim Gaffigan justice in this episode. His normal comedy routine is so much funnier and this just seemed dumbed-down and bland. Which is surprising, as he's known for being a family-friendly comedian so there's no reason they should have had to dumb him down for a younger audience. Either way it's a bummer.

His normal routines include self-deprecating weight jokes, but these were just food-related jokes that didn't really have anything to do with his weight. I suppose one explanation is that WB could have been worried about complaints of exposing children to fat shaming. The voices he does when pretending to be the hamburger and fries are actually voices he uses in his routine, but instead they're his impressions of what the audience is thinking of him. It's usually pretty funny, but they misused it in this episode.

His presence definitely pushed the gang to the background, especially Fred, Velma and Daphne. Honestly all of their lines could have been said by any of the three characters and it would have worked. There was just no personality there and they were just used to keep the plot moving.

I find regular car racing very boring personally. I enjoyed how it was done in Reluctant Werewolf, but that's because there were some other plot threads going on there and not all just Shaggy and the gang racing with the monster occasionally showing up like we got in this episode.

Really? I didn't think it was a bad episode, but I wouldn't classify it as great. There wasn't too much to the mystery (the culprit was pretty easy to identify and there were too many red hearings) and too much time was spent on Al annoying the gang with his music.

it is on vrv.

I got a gift card of it recently and I got vrv and i watched the episode there
if you want the episode without payment you have to download a torrent in piratebay but you need a utorrentweb for that

once you downloaded both of those sites you download the piratebay link (since they have the link in the site)
and wait for it to download in the utorrentweb (which is one of the 2 sites you should have downloaded)
when the pirate bay link is downloaded on utorrentweb just copy the link and paste in on the search bar on chrome or any browser you use.
Then you should get the episode

Im sorry if this is complicated but it is the best i can do and if you dont want to follow these hard insturctions then just download and pay vrv or wait till it gets on kimcartoon and watchcartoon

My updated list of episode and my thoughts about each one

1. When Urkel Bots Go Bad - Great Monster, and the guest star was incredible

2. The Cursed Cabinet of Professor Madds Markson! - double monsters, guest stars were fine, ending amazing, horrible elevator joke.

3. Revenge Of The Swamp Monster - great fresh start to a new series, I hoped for a better story on how Chris saved Shaggy's life.

4. Elementary My Dear Shaggy - Monsters: amazing, pacing: perfect, but the reason I put this on fourth is because I really enjoyed some episodes more than this one, but it is still fabulous

5. A Scooby Of A Thousand Faces- scooby/ wonder women was really cute, minotaur was a okay monster, but the part when Shaggy and Scooby ruined the museum was annoying to me.

6. I just finished the episode today and many people have not seen it so this is spoiler free... but Al was annoying

7.Ollie Ollie In Come Free! - The last three episodes on my list have to do with the fact that Ricky basically took over the entire episode

8. Peebles Pet Shop Of Terrible Terrors - Guest star taking over the entire episode but monster was okay

9. The Fastest Fast Food Fiend - some people still have not seen this episode... but I wont go too far and spoil it so im just going to give little details. The monster was okay, not too great but not too bad, the modly burger and ketchup was just bad, and guest star was quite a jerk.

10. A Mystery Solving Gang Divided - the pacing wasnt the best and the funky phantom crew and mystery inc arguing was just a waste of time, also it is a rushed episode

Good to see Urkel near the top of your list as well! I know a lot of people didn't like that episode, but I thought the guest star was great and it was a really fun mystery.

Myseries has been pretty accurate with titles so far, and the next episode is supposed to be called "Now You Sia, Now You Don't!"
