Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? Episode 40 Review

I don't really know what order to put this episode in, since it aired as the season 2 premiere in the UK, so I'm just going to say it's episode 40 for now and can always change it later if we find out it's a different order.

I really enjoyed this episode. Jason Sudeikis was a good guest star and the plot was pretty unique. The Snakeman Monster looked like a recolored version of the Snake Demon from "Shiver and Shake, That Demon's a Snake!" (The Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show).

It seemed like there were references galore in this episode! I was shocked Chen's Coffee from SDMI was referenced on that coffee cup, and did anyone else notice that the jungle sounds in the opening few seconds were archived audio from the noises when the gang gets on the island "Hassle in the Castle"?

I was a little surprised they mentioned Fred and Daphne possibly liking each other in this. I believe this is the first time Guess Who has done that.

Not the most amazing episode, but it was an enjoyable one. This ranks at #23/40 for me.

I liked scooby a lot for this episode. Personally I wasn't a fan of Jason's me/we joke but other than that I didn't mind it. While I don't think the several month anticipation was really worth it, it was a decent episode nevertheless.

Yeah, Jason's me/we joke was just kinda whatever. It definitely wasn't an episode entirely deserving of the months of anticipation as you said, but I'm excited we're down to only 12 episodes left!

This episode was pretty good. I like how Jason was narrating his journey with the gang and writing it in his notebook. The plot was very original too. A search of valuable shoes in a amazon jungle. That totem statue with a shoe head was pretty cool. I like the snake man monster and how it loonies like the snake demon. I also like the their name of the snake man monster, El lombre serpente. That name is like the name for the giant worms name El gusano grande.

I liked the totem statue too! Jason narrating his journey was pretty neat.

I just couldn't get this episode. The whole shoe factory in the middle of the Amazon was just dumb, the serious lack of suspects meant the villain only had 1 possible outcome and as soon as that was revealed this episode plummeted even further down my board, the me/we joke drove me round the bend after 5 seconds. Overall, for the awesome looking snake demon and lack of competition, 37/40

Not to mention the whole 12/21 days error.

Sorry you didn't care for this episode. I didn't notice the 12/21 days era, but is it possible that the error was intentional as a joke?

No, it definitely doesn't seem to be to me, if it was, its so bad I'm sticking this on the bottom of the leader board. I apologies for being negative here but rather than teach kids about the amazon as in previous incarnations they go for some daft stupid treasure hunt gimick of a shoe factory. Episode just made no sense to me.

Okay, I'll have to watch that part again to see my opinion of if it's an error or not.

37/40 seems like a great rating though. Did you mix that up?

Even though I truly love Guess Who I must agree on the points Samuel Kirk made. Guess Who has arguably the best animation out of all the Scooby-Doo series. But the writing can be so bland and subpar. Also the chase sequences are sometimes very dull and un exciting.

Sometimes I’m left watching the episode and it just feels very vanilla. Like it’s missing a spark. I was watching the original with a friend of mine and he even noticed that the original despite being written in the 60’s has better writing and a overall general ambiance that this one is lacking.

I feel if they were to combine Be Cool’s writing with Guess Who’s animation this probably would’ve been the best Scooby series to date.

Sadly the poor writing in many of the episodes bogs it down.

I had an insider tell me that the reason the writing is subpar is because the head people in charge had them scrap the majority of the ideas and rewrite them at the last minute. When my friend told me that everything about Guess Who made sense.

Someone actually agreed with me, this might be a first, lol. Nah, glad to see I'm not the only one!

Totally agree with your comment about Guess Who's designs and Be Cool's writing being combined making for one of the best Scooby series ever.

The Be Cool writers were also asked to rewrite the first few episodes in a matter of a couple days. Despite that, I know it was tough on the Be Cool writers to do so, so it still makes sense why Guess Who's writing is subpar sometimes.

I liked this episode, it really was a first for everything in guess who?

Yeah! This episode really experimented in a lot of ways, both in terms of uniqueness of setting and how it was sort of set up as being narrated by Jason Sudeikis.
