Wicked episode!
This episode absolutely blew me away and is my favorite of the series so far. The Hex Girls were great as always, and their repeated new catchphrases "Wicked" and "Rock and roll!' were interesting. I was surprised how aggressive they made Thorn in this episode, but it was funny. I loved that Thorn actually needed her own tranquilizer gun (held in an "in case of Thorn" fire extinguisher box), and that she wrecked her own house 8 times last week because she "just felt like it" haha. I really didn't mind that the Hex Girls had edgier personalities than in the past; it was a fun personality quirk, and I wouldn't be offended if it became a recurring character trait, but I also wouldn't mind if it didn't. It was a fun combo of them being "spooky" but also edgy. Luna and Thorn acting all girly under the cursed guitar (which makes people act the opposite of their typical personalities) was pretty humorous, as well. I loved their new song "I Put a Curse on You!". It was reminiscent of "I'm A Hex Girl," but a little blander than some of their other songs. Still super catchy though! I thought it was a really fun reference to have the picture of the "younger versions" of the Hex Girls feature their original Witch's Ghost designs. The villain was super neat too, one of the best of the series, if not the best. She was super creepy, with the yellow eyes and zombified face. The gang also all had a lot of personality in this episode, which I appreciated. Amazing episode for the gang interacting with each other with some sweet moments thrown in there, and I'd love to see more episodes like it! And with that, we have a new #1! Wait a minute,,,,,I am confussed.....You said the villain of this episode was a she correct?...Well I hate to disagree with you...But when I first saw the villains picture..She looked more like a He.... also him or her name is Ester....If I am not mistaken... I beleave Ester is actually a boys name, is it not?

I'm not sure how it was spelled in the credits, but Esther is the normal spelling and is usually a female name. As far as appearance, chalk it up to the character being from the punk rock era.

I checked the credits for the spelling of all the villains before adding it to the episode guide, and it is spelled "Ester." 3/19/2020 01:16:44 pm
It's definitely a she and talks like a woman, even with the odd spelling. I think the short hair is supposed to be like a punky haircut.

Unfortunately, not one of my favorites. The actual mystery was decent, but for once the door gag really annoyed me. It was unnecessarily long and didn't add any innovation to the door gag. I also found the new song to be pretty underwhelming. With all that said, this episode will likely only end up slightly better than average on my list.

I'm sorry you didn't like it! I'll be interested to see others' reviews, as I thought this episode was amazing! I will give you that the new song wasn't "oh my god!" level of greatness or anything, but I thought it was catchy.

Compared to the previous 4 this one just didn't quite hit the heights and sits mid-table at 12th on my list. It was a good episode, an intriguing mystery, although a little far-fetched, an interesting villain, but it didn't really stand out for me. The Hex Girls new personalities really irritated me, I prefer their Rock side being more a portrayal than who they actually are. The door gag was very easily noticeable when it was going to happen in this one and totally pointless and waste of time. Also wasn't a fan of Dusk's overreacting and Ester or whatever the villains name was was actually barely in the episode at all.

I personally thought this was the best Hex Girls appearance since Witch's Ghost. The episode seemed to focus around the Hex Girls much more than some of the other ones we've gotten them in did, and I found their new personalities cute. I thought Ester not being in the episode was okay, mainly because she was still creepily popping up at windows and such. No issues whatsoever with this episode admittedly.

I'd agree that the episode does really focus on them, just personally didn't enjoy their new personalities! Leave a Reply. |
