Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? Episode 17 Review

This one was a bit of a disappointment after the last two were so strong.

Honestly, this episode only really had two things going for it. I liked the crazy old lady just because she was spooky, and I also really liked the creepy atmosphere of the castle and catacombs. It was also cool how the office looked the same as the one in "Never Ape an Ape Man."

However, everything else was done poorly. George Takei's lines seemed stilted, the jokes with the gang being obsessed with his beautiful voice didn't work, and even the "ohhh my!" gag got old after a while. The villain wasn't great either, and his voice and laugh sounded really cheesy and fake. I did sort of like how he could switch in between suits of armor, though the explanation that he just did it super fast while jumping in and out of secret passages was dumb. I know it's a cartoon, but the explanation even seems fake for a cartoon. There's no possible way he could have changed out of one suit of armor into another in a matter of seconds without anyone seeing.

The episode's pace felt horribly rushed too. Barely any clues were found, and it felt like we were just going from place to place so fast that it was unenjoyable to watch.

Thank you so much! I think this is the last ep for a while now. I looked at the Boomerang TV guide for the UK and it said all repeats.

Quick question is the fox monster episode 15? Or is Halsey episode 15? Cause some sites say one or the other

I believe the Halsey episode is fifteen in the production order, but the Mark Hammill episode was fifteen in airing order. By the time these episodes release in the U.S. they may be completely different. This is all information based on the U.K. and the Whoopi Goldberg episode was their episode 12 and the Kenan Thompson episode was their episode 14. As of right now this is as much information as we know.

Overall I think I'd agree with a number of your points here, on reflection I've posted it at 10th in my list, although some of your critcisms her seem a little contradictory if you are comparing it to the past 2 episodes, i.e. Mark Hamill's constant overuse of Star Wars puns in his episode and The Flash repeatedly imprisoning villains for over half an episode with only 8 minutes for the actual mystery! Now that is rushed.

Here are some other points from your review:
1. She's a reference to Phyllis Diller
2. I liked the constant jokes over his voice although Fred trying to get his name right got old fast.
3. I feel the ending was poorly scripted and didn't like the whole car chase scene, how did the villain even get in the mystery machine? and by the time they got to the other car surely they'd be long gone.
4. The wrap up also seemed rushed and they don't really go into enough depth on how the gardener managed to puppet all those suits asides from using gardening twine. That's my belief anyway, he puppeted numerous suits to make it look like a ghost disappeared and then occasional popped out from a wall himself to add an extra scare to those getting a little to close to his plans.

I'm gonna argue back against The Flash episode by saying they were doing something different, so that got a pass from me. The Mark Hamill episode, I think, was influenced by their being a good guest star. I personally found the Star Wars puns to be really cute, so I think it's dependent on your view of the guest star.

Agreed with all those points, and I didn't think about her being a reference to Phyllis Diller but I think you're right! That's a really cool reference!

No problem, glad I could point it out and for the discussion as always and yeah with the guest stars it is a lot to do with personal preference

I hate to disagree with you WildWind but....I watched this episode and i was not disapointed by it at all. Plus I thought the Doom Bringer seemed like a pretty menacing villain. From his cool art design to his booming voice and maniacal laughter. Very Impressive if you ask me.

Glad you liked the episode! I guess I just personally didn't love it, though I didn't hate it either.
