Before you ask, yep, I do know I haven't posted a review for episode 10 yet. I typically watch these on WatchCartoonOnline, though they've been extra slow in posting the Weird Al episode for whatever reason. I know it is available on KimCartoon and other such sites, though I don't really trust those sites anymore. A Scooby fan friend of mine claimed to have gotten a virus off of KimCartoon last year and had to pay $200 to get the virus removed, so ever since I've been a bit skeptical of it. WatchCartoonOnline doesn't seem to have any pop-up ads so I've stuck with that one.
Anyways, this was a sort of 'meh' episode for me. I had heard of Sia previously, and had listened to some of her more famous songs such as "Titanium," "Wild Ones," "Chandelier," "Elastic Heart," "Bang My Head," "Cheap Thrills," "The Greatest" and "Thunderclouds." I'll admit, with the exception of "The Greatest" I was never a huge fan of her music. In this episode, I thought it was a bit odd how wacky she was with her urgent pauses, and various wacky antics such as bouncing on a large ball down the hallway. Those gags got a bit old after a while. The villain, however, was super cool and creepy. The scene where she's in the bedroom with Scooby and Shaggy was legitimately pretty terrifying. It was once again super easy to guess who it was, however. The atmosphere itself was definitely spooky, given it was night time. I love when they use big haunted mansions in Scooby as the location, so that was a big plus for me. The gang was once again very two dimensional, particularly Daphne, Velma and Fred, who went back to almost being interchangeable in dialogue again. This episode wasn't particularly offensive to me and I didn't dislike it like the Funky Phantom episode, but I also felt it was very forgettable and there was nothing really special or interesting about it either. Star-Studded Scoreboard: 1. Elementary, My Dear Shaggy! 2. When Urkel-Bots Go Bad! 3. Attack of the Weird Al-osaurus! 4. The Cursed Cabinet of Professor Madds Markson! 5. Revenge of the Swamp Monster! 6. The Scooby of a Thousand Faces! 7. Now You Sia, Now You Don't! 8. Peebles' Pet Shop of Terrible Terrors! 9. Ollie Ollie In-come Free! 10. The Fastest Food Fiend! 11. A Mystery Solving Gang Divided

A great little episode and this Sia person, whoever she might be, is EASILY the most entertaining "I have no idea who this person is or why they're famous" guest stars the show has had so far. The weirdness of her home and personality fit very nicely with the gang's mystery solving, gluttony indulging, silly chase dynamic.

I normally enjoy that type of quirky humor, so I'll admit my opinion may be biased because I'm currently pretty sick and not in the best mood at the moment. Maybe I'll watch it again once I feel better and my opinion will change.

Feel better! I prescribe chicken soup and cartoons. Lots and lots of cartoons. 9/8/2019 02:25:22 pm
Thanks! Have already had some chicken soup and have watched several Scooby episodes (just in time for the anniversary, might I add!). Also had some honey tea for my throat, as I currently have no voice. :(

One criteria that is high on my list but hardly gets mentioned here is the voice talent themselves. Chris the basketball player and all three of the professional comedians were pretty awful on the acting side of the equation. Not one line in all four of their appearances felt genuine to me. 9/8/2019 03:37:17 pm
That's an interesting point you bring up. I agree Chris Paul and Jim Gaffigan sounded a bit off at times, and Wanda Sykes was pretty bland. Ricky Gervais felt too over the top for me. I feel the same way about Scoob!, I don't think those particular actors will be able to pull off those voices very well, as it's not a simple task to get the gang's established voices and characters down. Certainly not something that they could probably do well with a single time of voicing the characters.

I said Teller was the expert host, but of course he's the generally silent one. I meant Penn Gillette, of course. He's got a super well developed delivery that rarely sounds rehearsed or forced. That talent translated pretty seamlessly to his performance on Guess Who. 9/8/2019 04:28:50 pm
I knew what you meant :) Also Wanda worked in a pet shop, not a flower shop I believe.

I think with the comedians and a lot of these guest stars its about if you know them and also where you live as much as the episode itself. I'm a massive fan of Weird Al's humor from a number of other projects most notably his crazy songs and MLP, whilst being British I've grown up with Ricky Gervais's humour style and found him constantly tearing the gangs mystery solving techniques to pieces hilarious. On the other hand, I've never really heard much of Urkel and just found him annoying.

I love Weird Al's humor too and enjoyed the Urkel episode, but I was irritated by Ricky's humor honestly. I definitely agree that it depends on if you know them and where you live for if you like the guest stars.

Overall this episode was quite wacky and definitely enjoyable, that bedroom scene in particular was very creepy, on a weeping Angel scale and the follow up with Velma the Fred were two of the funniest scenes in the series so far. But again it seemed to focus to much on the guest star and not enough on solving the mystery, I can't actually remember them finding 1 clue in this episode to who it was! There were also two many other little irritating things like Fred's overuse and out of context use of his so called new catchphrase, Sia's overuse of WAIT, STOP! and a number of overused gags that were getting stale by the end. Overall, greta on the comedic factor but lacked enough mystery, currently holds 6/11 on my updated leaderboard below, with Weird Al in 1 and Fast Food Fiend in 9th.

I didn't even think about the Weeping Angels in comparison to this episode, but you're right, it definitely is on that same level! I agree this one lacked mystery quite a bit.
