A brand new comic series entitled Batman and Scooby-Doo Mysteries is coming to comic book retailers this April! This will be another brand new series featuring Batman and the Scooby gang solving mysteries together. There will be 12 issues of this monthly comic series. Issue 1 will be released on April 13 in print, and March 27 digitally. The second issue will be published May 11 in print, and April 24 digitally. Here are the descriptions for the first two issues of the series:

In the kick-off story by Ivan Cohen and Dario Brizuela—an adventure when Batman discovers his original purple gloves have gone missing—Velma, Shaggy, and Scooby-Doo travel back in time to Batman’s Year One era to solve the case!” reads a company statement. “Will this time-traveling heist have a happy ending? Batman & Scooby-Doo Mysteries #1, “Glove Story,” written by Ivan Cohen with art and cover by Dario Brizuela, begins with the first of two DC Digital First chapters on March 27 followed by a print issue collecting the same story on April 13.

“And to continue the Scooby-Doo team-up tradition established in over a hundred chapters of Scooby-Doo Team-Up, in the second big Batman & Scooby-Doo Mysteries story writer Sholly Fisch and artist Randy Elliott have Scooby-Doo and Batman team up to solve the mystery of a ghost…who’s haunting the Batcave! Even if the ghost turns out to be a fake, that still doesn’t solve the real mystery: How did someone get into the Batcave to stage the phony phantom—and does that mean Batman’s enemies have cracked the secret of his true identity?! Batman & Scooby-Doo Mysteries #2, “Going Bats,” written by Sholly Fisch with art and cover by Randy Elliott, arrives in print on May 11 after digital chapters beginning on April 24.”

I have...honestly no idea what to think of this, I just hope it's well written.

Yeah, the announcement came a bit out of left field haha. I'm excited though!

I hope the new comic puts Batman in a more of a Vincent Van Ghoul role i.e. he occasionally intervenes but he mainly acts as an advisor. Having him as a member of the gang seems contrived.

I kind of hope so too. It'd be odd if he acted like just a regular member of the gang or something lol.

I'm interested. But I just know it's gonna be more stock art, which is disappointing. It will basically be another Team-Up series, but only with Batman.

I fear it will just be more stock art too. It's a shame they can't hire someone to do original art, given this is becoming a norm for comic series.

"Velma, Shaggy and Scooby Doo travel back in time to Batman's Year One era to solve the case!"

1) Wait, so there's no Fred and Daphne? Well that's disappointing.
2) Really, time travel? What, why, how. You can't just set the story in current time and have the gang meet Batman who is just in his first year and team up with him? I love time travel, but this is just a stupid use of it.
3) Why necessarily Batman in Year One? Plus that stock art is as muscular as Ben Affleck 45 ysar old Batman, confusing.
Also 4), Original purple gloves missing? Ohhhhhh kayyyyyy, that's strange

I didn't know what to make of this, I love both Batman and Scooby-Doo, but those things have left me uninterested.

That stock art is likely not from this comic series, but that was more of an observation than an actual further reasoning for my third point.

I'm actually not sure if the image is for this comic.

1. I'm not sure if it will exclude Fred and Daphne! Maybe just the first issue does? I really don't know.
4. Yeah, I thought that was dumb too lol.

I hope it's not from the comic series. I don't know why they'd use that image though if it's not from the front cover, but I suppose maybe it isn't.
