Hi everyone! I apologize for not keeping up with the Scooby news very much this past week or so. It's been a crazy busy week! My computer also broke down last Thursday, so I've been without it until today and forced to use a very old, slow computer these past eight days. But it feels good to be back, and let's get to the latest Scooby news! Lots of posts to come today!
For the 50th anniversary of the show this year, a special Scooby-Doo edition of the classic board game Clue has been released. The game features Scooby-Doo as Colonel Mustard, Shaggy as Professor Plum, Velma as Miss Peacock, Fred as Mr. Green and Daphne as Miss Scarlet. Weapons in the game include the Ghost of Redbeard's Sword, the Funland Robot's ray gun, the Ghost Clown's bomb (they seem to have gotten the Ghost Clown and Crybaby Clown from SDMI mixed up here), Carlotta the Gypsy's spell book, Frankenstein Monster's chain, and the Witch Doctor's staff. Here's the description from the back of the game: Ruh-roh! Mrs. White is experiencing a spell of abductions at her haunted mansion. In distress over this troubling situation, she has invited Scooby-Doo and the gang over to investigate. Always up for an exciting mystery, the friends dress up as their favorite Clue game characters, and get right to solving the crime. But while everyone is working on the case, someone in the mansion is abducted by a monster! To win Clue: Scooby-Doo, you must solve who was abducted, where, and what item did the monster leave behind?

Am I the only one who would like to see this board game adapted to a movie? It was attempted with "Party Like It's 1899" from BCSD, but I'd love to see it work as a full length movie with a darker tone.

I would love to see this too! It'd be especially cool if it had a darker tone like you suggested.

Do you know if there a difference between this and the original Scooby-Doo Clue? The box seems to be the same.

I just researched it a bit and it appears to be the exact same as the original. Same characters/weapons/rooms, etc.

It's a lot of fun! I'm a bit surprised they didn't have Shaggy as Mr. Green though, given his usual outfit has a green shirt.

Interesting, just found out about this. I've got the original, battered as it may be that I got lucky with and picked up from a UK seller but would love a new version so very tempted to pick this up and compare the 2.

I think the versions might be the same, from what I've researched, but I'm not 100% on that. It would be interesting to compare the versions.

From what I've found online there are a number of noticeable differences: 7/31/2019 05:58:14 pm
Interesting! Thanks so much for the info. Are you still thinking about buying the new set?

Whoops wrong button, oh well. Anyway I much prefer simpler gameplay, plus the pewter tokens are so much better, so will likely just get a nicer looking 2nd hand one of the old set to keep as a collectible and use the battered one that I picked up cheap for game nights. As I concluded above in my 2nd post, I'll probably stick to getting a nicer 2nd hand copy of the original, mine was around £20 10 years back but not great nick, although it's hard to acquire here in the UK thus why I grabbed it. There's a nice looking 2nd hand one one for around £60 on ebay right now currently which is tempting me or I could get the new one for around the same price band new of Amazon.com but I'm not overly keen on the new artwork, lack of pewter tokens and altered gameplay. Oh and links in my 2nd reply above include nifty pictures of the new sets cards and a video review on youtube. 7/31/2019 09:27:31 pm
Ooh neat! The cards especially look super cool. I only have a "Simpsons" version of Clue, so you may have tempted me into getting this! :)
