In the "golden era" of Scooby, 1969-1985, Hanna-Barbera would often take villain designs and recycle them for use in later episodes, using the exact same design (in some cases with different coloring). How many Scooby-Doo villain designs between 1969-1985 were recycled and used in more than one episode?
Hints:
I hope I covered all my bases this time, but if not, please feel free to ask any questions you may have for clarification! As for yesterday's question...everyone was wrong! I found a Variety article dating back to 2013 announcing the reboot. I came up with this question after reading ScoobyAddict's awesome SCOOB! timeline which mentions this article. I don't need to update the scoreboard, but I'll share it here again. Drakosleuth: 5 Peralaan: 5 IkeDaKil: 4 The Cop: 4 Samuel Kirkwood: 3 Becker: 3 SDF: 2 Justin Ordozzi: 2 Dzsasztin: 2 Ashton: 1 Bradford: 1 Emmi Kat: 1 Scoob16: 1 ThreeDaysRey: 1 So Drakosleuth and Peralaan are still tied. To make things a little interesting, I'm going to add on an extra added bonus for this last question. Whoever is the first to give the correct answer to the question will receive a bonus point, in addition to the point for getting it right. I'm hoping this will prevent a tie, but we will see! Good luck everyone!

I'm looking at between six and nine. If you look at all the mummies from that era, I think there could be subtle differences, but I think they're all really close. The Black Knight from the Scared Alot in Camelot is the same as the Horseman of Hagglethon Hall except the Black Knight has a plume, I don't know if you'd consider them. The last one that caused a hang up is the shark. In The New Scooby-doo Movies, they have seaweed on their fin. The Scooby-doo show doesn't but has strange markings on the body, but both shark monsters have similar body dimensions so they could be counted in my eyes.

The mummies would definitely be counted...particularly the one from "Mummy's the Word!" just has white bandages instead of the tan ones in "Scooby-Doo and a Mummy Too." I guess I'd say no on the Knight and the Shark because they are different enough with the plume and the markings, respectively. The Demon Shark from "There's a Demon Shark in the Foggy Dark" looks a bit visually different from the one in "Secret of Shark Island" I would say as well.

Should we count the originals along with reused/recolored or just the reused/recolored?

to be clear, for redbeard's crew that appear twice in the new scooby doo movies, only count both appearances as one? 5/16/2020 02:18:27 pm
Yep, since it's the same villain, you only need to count each of them once.

Which one are you on the fence about including? I can confirm or deny whether a particular one counts before you make your final decision between 9 and 10.

Both the lady ghost and window phantom being separate or together as one count, the mummy from where's scooby doo, bulldog from strongman scooby, and vikings from scooby the barbarian

Sorry it was supposed to be 9-12 5/16/2020 04:29:18 pm
The lady ghost/window phantom count as one. The mummy from Where's Scooby-Doo? is similar to the one from Scooby-Doo and a Mummy Too, which also appears in Mummy's the Word. As per my above hint with Redbeard, you only need to count the mummy once. The bulldogs definitely count, that's why included the pictures from "Scooby's Swiss Miss" and "Muscle Trouble" above because I figured it would be difficult. The viking does count.

is it the eyes that makes the mummy similar and not exactly have the same design as the others 5/16/2020 04:46:45 pm
I would say the eyes, yeah, but the Mummy's the Word and SD & a Mummy Too mummy are exactly the same, I believe, other than the color of their wrapping. Given this, even if the Who's Scooby-Doo? mummy were the same design, it wouldn't matter because it counts as one either way (like I said, you don't need to double-count if they reappear more than once).
