According to IndieWire, SCOOB! topped the digital charts this weekend by instantly debuting at #1 on both the Amazon and iTunes charts, and has stayed there ever sense. By comparison, Trolls 2, which is commonly cited as being the first film during this pandemic to take off on digital platforms, took two days to get to #1. Could this mean a SCOOB! sequel?

Honestly, I feel like they were already planning to make a sequel, and I'm sure they didn't give up on it just cuz it went to digital. Considering this is the first entry in this Hanna-Barbera Cinematic Universe, and the most popular HB property, they'd be crazy not to give it a sequel. They've already announced the next three movies in the HBCU: The Jetsons, The Flintstones and Wacky Races, which are in development. Sure, the Scoob sequel won't come in the next few years, but it will at some point.

They've announced all of those movies a few years ago, man. 5/18/2020 06:33:08 pm
Totally agreed! I imagine we'll probably get at least one more HBCU film that's not Scooby before they'd consider making a SCOOB! 2 though.

Yeah, this isn't a The Mummy 2017 situation, where pretty much nobody liked what was supposed to be the first entry in the Dark Universe and what they did with it, which resulted in Universal canceling that universe after just one movie. Scoob is a divisive movie, which isn't exactly the best situation to be in when building a universe, but it's clearly not the worst either. WB's been in this very situation before, with Man of Steel. Honestly, 4 of the first 5 DCEU movies weren't very well received (though personally I love Man of Steel and Batman v Superman), but Warner Bros didn't just give up, the universe is still going and the reception for the more recent installments has improved compared to the earlier ones. So I'm sure they'll keep going with the HBCU too. Probably in the sequel they'll take most people's criticism and focus on the Scooby gang and have a classic mystery, considering it won't have the burden of introducing the world to a new universe. There's gonna be a couple of other movies before Scoob 2 as well.

no,the digital numbers mean absolutely nothing in this case if these numbers came from cinema then they would mean a lot. yes the movie beacame a big hit on digial but I am fairly certain that a lot of people watched it because they were curious about it, and they wanted to now what it was really about, such a reaction is perfectly normal another thing to bear in mind is how popular scooby-doo is but scoob has received mixed reviews from critics On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 53% based on 81 reviews, with an average rating of 5.45/10. At Metacritic, the film has a weighted average score of 43 out of 100, based on 30 critics, indicating "mixed or average reviews

Sorry you didn't like it. I respect your opinion and I guess we'll just have to wait and see if these numbers correlate with them making another film.

Trolls 2 made more money than Trolls, and this outsold Trolls 2. Money matters much more to a studio than reviews. I think it suffered from not trying to follow the traditional Scooby formula closer too (especially as an establishing film) but neither my personal tastes, your personal tastes, nor the reviews are going to effect the financial decisions of the studio.

a jetsons feature film has been in development ever since 2014 and it still hasn't been made up untill today, as for the Hanna-Barbera Cinematic Universe that was mainley aimed to introduce people to it throught the theatres, since Scoob went the digital route I highly doubt that will happen now.

SCOOB! was also in development since 2013, and just came out now, so I think it's still definitely possible that a Jetsons film will be made.

SCOOB! was really good and even though it would be nice to see a Hanna-Barbera Cinematic Universe, I personally would love to just see a sequel to SCOOB! due to my love to just Scooby-Doo.

I think all of us would! Depending on the HB property, I would consider watching a non-Scooby HBCU film just to check it out.

Obviously we'd want a Scoob sequel before anything else, but I'd definitely watch The Jetsons, The Flintstones and Wacky Races when they come out. Not sure I'd be happy to watch every HB property's movie in this universe though.

Agreed, it would really depend on what HB properties it was for. 5/19/2020 07:12:57 am
Will we pitch ideas for SCOOB! 2 in the next blog post?

I like Scoob but I wish It was more about Shag and Scoob than the Hanna Babrbera universe XD

I've heard that argument from a lot of fans tbh. I didn't mind it overly much, but it's definitely understandable why many fans would want it to be more Shaggy and Scooby centric!

I wonder if they'd get the Scoob cast back for a sequel.
