Sandy Duncan's Jekyll and Hydes Missing Scene #1 Found

6/19/2026

Another missing scene from The New Scooby-Doo Movies has been found! A 23-second missing segment from "Sandy Duncan's Jekyll and Hydes" has been uploaded by YouTube. The scene was uploaded by Chorake, who found "The Dynamic Scooby-Doo Affair" scenes in 2020 and 2021, and "The Secret of Shark Island" scene in 2024.

The missing footage found is not highly anticipated the King Kong scene. This brief segment shows Fred, Daphne and Velma splitting up from each other on the set. This resolves a plot hole of where it was never shown how Fred, Daphne and Velma got separated from each other.

The discovered scene is only 23 seconds long, but there was two minutes of missing footage from the episode. This means there is another minute and a half of footage still missing, likely the King Kong scene.

Nice find, courtesy of SpaceHunterM.

I take it that this is from a September 19, 1985 airing on KCOP-TV (Los Angeles) from the collection of TonyLoccsta, am i right?

Yes it is from the TonyLoccsta collection. Chorake uploaded it after one of my buddies and one of the searchers saw she had a lot of 80s syndication recaps and thought It was worth a shot to see if she still has access to prt 1 of "Sandy Duncan's Jekkyl and Hydes" before we do and that maybe she missed a scene, so he messaged her. He told her where we thought the missing scene was and what was presumably missing (At the time we thought the Disappearing Phantom scene would happen here as they mention him 2-3 times. some of us think he could be scrapped like the "Bearded 'Ol Ghost") Then she uploaded it and the rest is history. We are also expecting to receive the infamous and legendary King Kong scene soon.

I don't get why they didn't put the removed scenes back in after cutting them for commercials (which is also stupid in itself).

Assuming you mean on the DVD. Yeah, I don't get that either. It's especially odd to me they went to the trouble of restoring all the scenes in the 2005 Best Of set except for "The Dynamic Scooby-Doo Affair." Like why exclude just that one episode?

You forgot about the first Batman crossover episode, there were some scene that weren’t on the DVD/Blu Ray.

Because Dynamic acooby duo affair was restored in the 41 minute version for the 2002 Scooby doo meets Batman dvd and when 2005 came they decided why would they spend money on restoring the 43 minute version when they could just use that one

WildwindVampire link
6/23/2026 08:58:19 am

Ah I hadn't thought of the Scooby-Doo Meets Batman DVD. Still a bit odd they restored "The Caped Crusader Caper" on that DVD but not "The Dynamic Scooby-Doo Affair." Although I do remember that "The Caped Crusader Caper" is a little shorter than the others, so maybe there's a missing scene from that episode as well?

Well caped crusader caper, along with Ghastly ghost town and LochNess mess are a mystery as they are 43 or 42.90, and are the only season 1 episodes with no scenes cut, in every dubbed version or Cartoon Network airing, they are always like this, I feel like for some strange reason, they never had cut scenes, even before the 2005 restoration, they were always 43, and if they had cut scenes, the average length of an episode is about 43.30, why would they cut only 40 seconds and not 2 minutes like the others, 40 seconds is so little, it’s how long the second scene from Davy Jones was

WildwindVampire link
6/24/2026 08:19:22 am

You're likely right. I agree it would be odd to cut only 30 seconds out of those episodes.

6/24/2026 10:55:38 am

Yeah, that why we think it’s weird, I mean why go through the trouble if you’re only doing half the job, but I still wonder why they would keep these episodes 43 instead of 41

This looks so uncanny to me. I love the New Scooby-Doo Movies, but the animation was, in a word, scuffed. Particularly mid-range shots. This may be one of the most well-drawn sequences in the entire episode, and it uses more cels/frames for some of the movements than I'm used to seeing from this era. Wild!

I mean, compare Velma's face at the end of this sequence to her face in this reference shot from the same episode: https://youtu.be/lGjdy0T44LI?list=PLBPp_Pv00imxotPpkFOmd-Ei1JTdHD4FO&t=136

The backgrounds are also interesting. The background starting at 0:15 seems to be a perfect match for the one at 0:15 in the reference clip, with different color grading. Same for the background at 0:10 of the new clip vs. 0:43 in the reference. I wasn't alive in this era, but I wonder if the darker look is how it was supposed to look on those older TVs? I like it!

The first background in this new clip appears to be a composite of at least two background layers, which is unusual. The bushes on the left seem to be overlaid onto the right part of the image (pillar, scaffolding, distant building with ladder). That right half matches the background at 0:32 in the reference (more zoomed in at 0:27, which makes it look a little different, particularly the column's faces).

It's really fun to scrutinize these things. Thanks for sharing!

This is incredible. Just one step closer now to getting the King Kong scene from this episode!!! I’m gonna loose it when we find that one. I have a feeling it’s coming!!

Yeah, we on Reddit are talking with 2 different guys that have the tape with King Kong, but they both are very busy and so we are hoping they will be able to digitalize them until mid summer

6/21/2026 09:21:48 am

I'm super excited for that scene too! I saw on Reddit that they've contacted a collector who they believe has it, hopefully that means we'll get that one in the next few months! I think I'm most looking forward to the Addams Family mummy scene.

Ohh yeah the mummy scene from Addams Family is up there too! It’s crazy that an episode that is already hard to find has a missing scene as well. Can’t wait to see these resurface after all these years!

SD link
6/23/2026 12:59:06 am

Yeah we are talking to 2 different people that have King Kong, and one of them definitely has the second scene from Jerry Reed and possibly not surely the Addams family scene, as we don’t know where part 2 starts

WildwindVampire
6/23/2026 09:00:29 am

I didn't realize you were close to getting one of the Jerry Reed scenes. That's really exciting!

SD link
6/23/2026 09:51:22 am

I know, the best thing is that the second one is the longer one, as we theorize the first one was a short Fred Daphne and Velma orchestra room scene, based on dialogue we concluded it was an orchestra room scene, and the second one had to be longer, I just can 100% feel it

WildwindVampire
6/24/2026 08:20:46 am

That would be cool! I'm guessing the second scene will be something with Shaggy and Scooby searching for the xylophone. They found it almost instantly in the 41 minute version, which makes me think something from that scene was cut.

SD link
6/24/2026 10:53:32 am

Well that’s what we theorize, the first scene was before the tiger prop and the secvențe was there, and we think it could have been a Jerry Velma scene as well, because Fred told the 2 to check the upper tiers but we don’t see them doing that, also from the last time we saw them it was a very long distance and that’s why we theorize of a Jerry Velma scene

WildwindVampire link
6/24/2026 04:33:09 pm

I think you're probably right on both of those! I'd lean more towards the first scene being with Jerry and Velma, since there seems to be a pattern of the missing scenes often being things are talked about in the episode but never shown.

SD link
6/25/2026 01:48:17 am

Well as i told you on Reddit, I think that the first scene was a Fred Daphne and Velma checking the orchestra, as they said they would but they never did, and the second scene that we theorize is longer, could have been a Jerry Velma scene, or it could have been the first part of the scene a Jerry Velma and the second one with Shaggy and Scooby, which would explain why they would choose to run up a random ladder instead of going on the stage, maybe they were running away from something that scared them in the deleted scene, the good part is that this second scene would probably be seen soon, that’s if this guy can be free from work, which would probably happen this summer

WildwindVampire link
6/25/2026 07:19:44 am

My bad, I typed "first" but meant the second scene. That's awesome, I'm looking forward to hopefully seeing the scene!

SD link
6/25/2026 08:33:23 am

Yeah, I am worried though, I noticed that most people have tapes from the season starter episodes, and Jerry Reed is very rare meaning we never saw a guy even mentioning that they had a Jerry Reed tape, and we will get scene 2 eventually, but I am worried that it will be a long time until we get scene 1, and after thinking a bit I think that they would have explored the room a bit and then an instrument would play by itself like an organ or a trombone, and they would run out, because that’s the first thing I would think when I heard orchestra room

WildwindVampire link
6/25/2026 10:47:24 am

That's too bad to hear. You guys found Davy Jones though, so hopefully your persistence will pay off eventually even if it takes a while longer to find.

SD link
6/25/2026 12:14:12 pm

We were disappointed because Davy Jones was the only episode that we didn’t have a tape assured, of all of the others we had part 1, part 2, both, but nothing for Davy Jones, and we thought it was the rarest, and it was the first one we found, we are proud of ourselves because until we found a Davy Jones lead it could have taken ages

excellent! i do wonder if someone has tried to splice the deleted scenes into the episodes before.

i suppose the second scene would make sense to be king kong, considering we now know the rough length of the other deleted scene.

Yeah, my understanding is that this scene was found in a tape of a broadcast of part 1 of the episode. Pretty sure King Kong would have been in part 2, so it would line up that it would be the remaining scene.

We still could use more deleted scenes from every episode of the New Scooby Doo Movies so we can have a real complete series of the show on physical media with those said deleted scenes and whatever

How do these pieces of lost media keep popping up here and there on the internet

SD link
6/23/2026 11:14:31 pm

Well simple, we search for tapes, Chorake found the first 3 scenes after finding a collector that had the 80s tapes, and since January, us on Reddit every day are talking about these missing scenes or scooby doo in general, and we found the Davy Jones scenes and helped find this one, as Chorake had no idea that there is a missing scene in part 1, and we told him there is and we saw that he posted the cliffhanger from part 1 in 2024, so we thought why not ask him? And turns out he actually had this scene all along. And we are currently talking with two guys that have the King Kong scenes but they both are very busy, and the second guy also has the second scene from Jerry Reed, and part 1 from Phillys Diller, and part 2 of Addams family, and they don’t know about them, but again both are very busy so we are expecting by mid summer so these things don’t just happen

We have more coming hopefully soon ;) Chorake uploaded it after one of my buddies and one of the searchers saw she had a lot of 80s syndication recaps and thought It was worth a shot to see if she had prt 1 of "Sandy Duncan's Jekkyl and Hydes" and that maybe she missed a scene, so he messaged her. Thank you so much for all the hard work you've been doing to find these scenes. It's so cool you've already found two and have more on the way. You guys have been doing amazing, and I hope you know how grateful the Scooby fandom is for your efforts!

We are glad to hear, it’s crazy to think that it all started in January when I made a comment of Chorake’s dumbwaiter scene post asking him if he got any news from the collectors, not Chorake answered but WasteInstances and we got in a small conversation that died down in a day or 2, than a week or 2 later CTCdebo answers to our conversations and ask us some questions, we reply and we ask some questions, and soon enough we start coming up with theories, and others about these missing scenes, and that’s what we’ve been doing since January till now, and I personally won’t give up until all of the scenes are found, I am glad that this turn of events happened, because sometimes I wonder how would these 3 scenes have been found and others so close to be found if for example CTCdebo never answered us, or if I wouldn’t have made that random comment on Chorake’s post

WildwindVampire link
6/24/2026 08:22:39 am

That's neat to know the backstory for how your project started! I think it would have taken a lot longer to find the scenes. To my knowledge, Chorake was the only person looking for the scenes, and she was only finding one every couple of years. I'm excited to see what you all find next!

6/24/2026 10:50:47 am

Yeah and I feel like she did her search privately and that’s why it took so long, we took the public approach by talking on Reddit where anybody could see our posts and make a lot of posts to attract people’s attention, and it proved efficient for the Davy Jones scenes
