Here's some new concept art which was just revealed for the 2020 theatrical film SCOOB!. The art features Scooby, whose design had been previously announced, and also revealed what Shaggy will look like in the film.

Thanks to Jayden for sharing this with me.

What do you all think of the concept art?

I think I like it? it reminds me of the Illumination style ( the Lorax, The grinch) it looks nice.

I feel the same way haha. I like how it has that Illumination vibe like you said, but on the other hand, Shaggy looks slightly weird? I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Something just doesn't seem right about Shaggy but definitely looking forward to this.

I felt that same way when I first saw it! I'm hoping it will grow on me.

Shaggy has more muscles and he has more style, he got the 2002-2004 live action clothes...He looks like a cool school boy when the original looks more like a nerd or a toxico...

Haha he does look cooler in this version a bit. Definitely a more contemporary vibe to him than the original designs.

To my eye Shaggy's head is the wrong shape. In most traditionally animated versions of the character, his jaw subtly flares outward from the ears down, giving him a much heavier jawline than what we see here.

Of course, I was never interested in a computer animated version of Scooby to begin with...

Also his goatee usually doesn't sit across the bottom of his chin like that. Normally it's a sort of half circle about the width of his mouth that starts halfway between his lower lip and his chin and only hangs over the very center of his jaw.

I must admit, I'm not a big fan of computer animation either. It usually makes the characters look kinda plasticy and off.

The more I look at this, the more I think that the 3D artist based the model on the Be Cool Scooby-Doo version of Shaggy and had never seen any other version. The chin strap goatee, the face shape and even the hair totally look like BCSD Shaggy in 3D.

I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but I think you're right. It looked really familiar!
