Mystery Incorporated Storyboards from Estate Reveal New Details about Characters

A large set of Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated storyboards have been posted on eBay following animator Craig Kemplin's death. All storyboards are part of his estate, and at the time of this post, they are posted on eBay for $399.99. The listing mentions that the number of storyboards in this collection are in the hundreds. Notably, the listing has a couple of storyboards that provide new details about a couple of different characters. One storyboard is a character model of Hot Dog Water, which mentions in the notes that she was originally designed to look like an evil version of Velma. Another storyboard confirms a fascinating reference to Gremlins, which is especially timely considering the recent announcement about a script being written for a Gremlins and Scooby-Doo crossover film. Ray's pet, who looks like a Mowgai, is confirmed to actually be Mowgai by the storyboard. Thank you so much to Jinkies for finding this listing!

Sooo tempted to get these, but I’m just aware that they are copies (real studio made-copies used during production, but still copies). Maybe for re-sell value though?..

check DC comics solicitations, they are making a Multiversus comic and has many variants covers which feature Shaggy and Scooby. The main one drawn by Dan Mora looks awesome!

Meant to respond to this earlier, but thank you for the heads up on this! I actually wouldn't have thought to check for these today, since they're usually posted on the third Friday of the month.

It's cool they're doing a Multiversus comic! I agree the main cover looks the best.

I’m planning to scan every single page after they arrive. Then I can share the high quality scans with other Scooby fans. Maybe you’d be interested in hosting them in some way here, Wildwind? (and I think there were a lot of pages that weren’t shown in the eBay pics).

if wildwind doesnt have a space for them here you should upload them to the internet archive at archive.org they already have a few other scooby model sheets and things people have uploaded and it would be accessible to everyone

That's awesome that you were able to get them for a discount!

I'm open to the idea of posting them on here! Like Jinkies brought up though, I'm not really sure of what the spacial limitations would be, since I've never tried to put hundreds of pictures in a post before lol. I think Jinkies' idea of uploading them to Internet Archive is a good idea too if it doesn't work!

Also, I would be curious if anybody on here has any insight into the legality of hosting images of storyboards? After what happened with Behind the Scoobs, I'm just a little worried as I don't want to do something that is a legal gray area, or put the site in risk of being taken down if somebody at WB were to take issue with me sharing them here. I also noticed that many of the storyboards say "not to be distributed," hence why I didn't post the actual images of the storyboards in this post. But yeah, I'd be really curious to know if anybody has any insight into if it's an issue or not, since I haven't really been sure how to handle hosting them on here given the Behind the Scoobs situation a few months back.

For anybody who is still interested. I've received the folders now and have begun organising the HUNDREDS of pages of storyboards, model sheets etc. There's some great stuff in here that I'll be sharing on my @artofscoobydoo instagram page (as well as archive.org with download links etc).
