You may remember that several episodes of The New Scooby-Doo Movies had short 1-2 minute scenes of missing footage, which were cut off from the master tapes during syndication. In 2020, two missing scenes from "The Dynamic Scooby-Doo Affair" were found. In 2024, "The Secret of Shark Island" had its lost scene uncovered.
This morning, two missing scenes from "The Haunted Horseman of Hagglethorn Hall" were recovered! The footage was recovered as a part of a new fan-led initiative. A group of fans on Reddit have created a project to find all of the missing scenes from The New Scooby-Doo Movies. They are searching old television recordings of the episodes between 1972-1992 to look for the missing segments. This YouTube video explains more about the initiative, as well as this Reddit thread. Checking in on my missing scene prediction post, I was spot-on about the scene showing us Fred, Shaggy and Scooby investigating the secret passage. There is also an additional missing scene right afterwards featuring Creech and Segwick walking through the halls of Hagglethorn Hall one last time.

if we ever get a proper complete series set with Wednesday Is Missing i would love to see all of these deleted scenes included as bonus features, maybe they could be on their own disc

That would be amazing! I think it would further incentivize a lot of fans to buy the set (more so than if there was just that one additional episode). I've always wondered why they restored all the missing scenes for the 2005 set, but not the 2019 set. Very odd.

I should probably clarify my earlier comment because that's how I'd prefer to see them presented as well. Having them as bonus features would be better than nothing, but I feel like it would be odd to have half the scenes restored on certain episodes, but left as bonus features for other episodes.

I’d personally prefer the episodes being restored to include deleted scenes, but I’d take whatever I could get as a collector

good point, it would be better to have them all included in the episodes so we get the whole experience

Yes, I agree, because these episodes are the highest quality when they are left uncut. That scene with the earl lamenting that the castle "will be doomed to destruction" heightens the tension of the story, and it's a pity they deleted it!

This Scooby/Shaggy/Fred scene is funny cuz why is there such a tense and emphatic nature to the way Shaggy and Fred talk to each other😭. Shaggy wasn't a fan of the Sassy Fred arc lmao

I loved that too. Some peak Sassy Fred content lol.

I feel like this may put The Haunted Horseman of Hagglethorn Hall into the lead when talking about Fred’s sassiest episode lol

Nothing beats Phantom of the Country Music Hall in the peculiar Fred department this series. Although that one was less so Sassy Fred and more so Dejected Fred😅

It's tough because while that is an iconic staple episode for Sassy Fred, Hagglethorn Hall also has "What spine?!?" and "Davy, the only person who would be scared of that costume is my three year old nephew!" which are two all timers as well

The fact that these two episodes are back to back just shows this was the peak of the rough patch Fred wad going through in life. Poor Fred lol

And then the trifecta is completed with The Caped Crusader Caper which has the: 4/28/2026 01:27:18 pm
The group finding the lost clips pointed out that "The Caped Crusader Caper" is 30 second shorter than the standard runtime, so there might be a missing clip from that episode too. It would be epic if the missing scene was another Sassy Fred quote lol. In fact, why not just have all the missing scenes be additional Sassy Fred content haha.

Shaggy catching from Fred in all three of these episodes is wild lmao

Absolutely excellent news, I adore this episode and the deleted scenes did not disappoint. Here’s to hoping they find more scenes

I really hope so as well. I'm unclear on if they got the DVD rights to "Wednesday Is Missing" or if it was just streaming, but I feel like they'll probably wait until they have those rights to release those clips. I don't think the set would sell well if it was just a reprint of the (Almost) Complete Collection with those extra scenes.

I'm not sure on Wednesday Is Missing, but I do know that I fully believe that Warner Archive would put the pressure on to get it cleared if this set was going in that route. Warner Archive is certainly more collector-oriented than the standard releases, and from what I have seen in interviews, I do believe that George Feltenstein truly does care about completeness and quality releases 4/27/2026 09:13:17 pm
I've also been impressed with how thorough George and his team seem to be in making sure fans receive complete releases. I'm hopeful we'll get at least one more Scooby set before the merger, and I'd love for it to be this.

I am holding out just a little bit of hope for this, The Scooby Doo Show complete series (or just season 2), and The New Scooby and Scrappy Doo Show/The New Scooby Doo Mysteries complete series.

I think those two would be the next most likely options. Given the potential copyright issues with The New Scooby-Doo Movies, I'd say getting The Scooby-Doo Show season 2 would be the next most likely option, then The New Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show/The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries, and The New Scooby-Doo Movies after that.

This is so exciting, and fun that your prediction was spot on! Lost media is so fascinating to me and I hope some archivists at the Warner Archive restore these and add them back into the episode on a future physical release!

Me too! It's so weird to me that there are still scenes out there that the vast majority of fans have never seen. It's actually kinda surprising there was never more of a push to find the scenes before now!

I'm laughing because at first, I didn't realize this was a set pic. I just thought it was a random pic of him walking around town wearing a green shirt, and I was like "okay, didn't realize this a celebrity tabloid site now" lol. Anyway, thank you, this is really cool! I made a post about it.

I'm so grateful that somebody reached out to us and shared this footage. I talked to a collector who owns the missing footage from "Sandy Duncan's Jekyll and Hyde," and he offered to get back to me after May 11 when his move is complete. Here's hoping!!

I heard about that from talking to CBCDebo yesterday on Reddit. Fingers crossed you end up getting more missing footage! That would be awesome to finally be able to see the King Kong scene (and potentially others).
