So I'm admittedly a little late on this, since I didn't know about it, but I thought I may as well still post it! This past weekend, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first Scooby-Doo live-action film, Matthew Lillard hosted Scooby fans in the Mystery Machine that appeared in the 2002 film for $20 per night. The Mystery Machine was decked out in tons of 2000s nostalgia and Scooby-Doo related decorations. Those who stayed were offered free Wi-Fi, a TV, and an ocean and mountain view. Here's the full description, straight from Matthew Lillard's AirBnB profile (you should really read it if you haven't, it's very amusing):
Guests will be immersed in Y2K nostalgia and get to live like Shaggy (TM) and Scooby Doo (TM) in the Mystery Machine, including: - A virtual greeting from yours truly upon arrival – I may even share some of my favorite memories with the meddling kids - Plenty of throwbacks to 2002, including listening to the latest Sugar Ray album on a portable CD player, basking in the glow of a lava lamp and donning Shaggy’s signature puka shell necklace - All-you-can-eat snacks and a selection to choose from for dinner, featuring all of Shaggy & Scooby’s favorite foods (like hot dogs and eggplant burgers) - Mystery games galore so you can put your own whodunit-solving skills to the test - A late-night re-watch of Scooby-Doo, complete with popcorn, candy and all the Scooby Snacks that your heart can desire - An outdoor setup with enough lounge seating and hammock space for you to vibe out, free from any monsters that might be lurking about This seems like such a cool opportunity and I'm so glad those few fans got to have what looks to be the time of their lives during this once-in-a-lifetime AirBnB stay!

I'll suggest renting out Wigglehouse on Airbnb to Anthony. 💙

I remember seeing this on Twitter, but I thought it was just Lillard standing next to the Mystery Machine. LOL.

WWV, I have a suggestion for an article you could do, which is Fred being the all-American boy, when he represents zero qualities of the all-American boy. It's implied once in "Foul Play in Funland," but besides that it's not really shown exactly what makes Fred the all-American boy other than being dressed like a parody of it. (Interestingly, there's an episode of Teen Titans Go, where they go high school, and Robin is the all-American boy dressed identically to Fred.)

I LOVE that idea! I've always found it odd that people project the stereotype of the "All American boy" / "jock" onto him when that doesn't fit his character at all. Someone had just brought that up in the voice actor rankings for Fred a few weeks ago with Robbie Amell. Robbie's characterization of Fred didn't quite fit, and I think a lot of people think it's because he's not a blond, but I'd argue it's also because he portrayed Fred as a jock, which he's not.

That WNSD stuff ain't jock-y to me 6/29/2022 06:26:25 pm
I agree it came off a little unnatural, but it didn't feel as much of an "in-your-face" jock moment as Mystery Begins/Curse of the Lake Monster did. It does kind of seem like whoever wrote that line was kinda going off stereotypes of the characters, though.

He wore a football helmet in "Homeward Hound" after getting a poodle hair makeover. If that ain't being a jock, I don't know what is.

So I'm curious, what's you're overall ranking of the scooby shows, probably best time to do one while all the current ones are finished and we don't have to put Velma on the list (for good or ill feeling the discourse around that is gonna get toxic fast so best to just stay away from that fight)

That ranking would be worthy of an (updated) article

I like the idea of doing an updated one, but I can link the post I wrote with my rankings from 2019! https://scoobysnax1.weebly.com/blog/scooby-doo-the-50-year-series-retrospective

Fair, forgotten you had done one before honestly, interesting curious how much your positions have shifted especially now that you've had time to sit with all of Guess Who. 7/1/2022 06:49:16 pm
I'll give you a hint, it's definitely lower than it is in that post.

@Wildwind I would be very interested to see an update as well. You might not be alone in Guess Who falling down with time to sit with it

Same. Guess Who has always been in the lower third for me, but honestly at this point, now that the whole show is out, it might even be lower than Get a Clue. It's just so boring. 7/2/2022 10:00:53 am
Yeah, that would be really fun! I'm thinking of doing it around September for Scooby's anniversary like I did before.

I still stand by it would have been better in the hour format, I know people think there's more forced comedy in that but with a new character you need time to breathe having them come in contact with them, join up and why we should care beyond just the (admittedly amusing) groups "It's famous etc etc etc!" 7/2/2022 04:28:40 pm
If the writing would have improved along with it, I absolutely agree. However, if they just tried to pad it out with more forced nostalgia and didn't use the time to develop the mystery better, I would say it probably wouldn't fix the issue I had with it. With certain episodes, it really dragged on because of the forced nostalgia and not a well-developed mystery and/or over-focus on the guest star.

I would’ve loved this! If they ever bring the van around my area, I will definitely sign up for it!

I would have loved doing something like this too! Wish I would have known about it beforehand!
