It's Old Man Withers' Son, Young Man Withers! A First Clip from Return to Zombie Island

A three-minute clip from Return to Zombie Island was just leaked onto YouTube.

I must say I'm really pleasantly surprised by this first little scene. Love how they had a couple of the classic villains make cameos, and of course, the quote in the title of this post was also quite humorous lol.

Young Man Withers. That was pretty clever. I like it😁 they missed an opportunity to use The Ghost is Here though.

That would have been really cool to get a callback to that song! Oh well. Maybe later in the movie :)

Speaking of "The Ghost Is Here", is it me or does the very very first shot of this clip look a LOT like that warehouse the gang investigated with the lobster monster during the song in the original?

It kind of does, doesn't it? That's cool!

I compared the two images and they're almost identical. Either it's a coincidence or an Easter egg for really keen eyes.

I’m thinking it’s gotta be a reference. I compared the images as well and they look too similar for it not to be a reference!

Looks good to me!

Agreed! They used a lot of cool villain designs for this one. Some of them I would have liked to see as the main villain in an episode.

I liked the clip. It seems like they're back to old mystery machine and Fred's driving; nice to see Fred successfully trapping villains again.

I liked that too. Had a very classic vibe to it which gave me hope.

If you look closely, the No Parking signal in the first scene has the same design and the same timings as the original movie.

I'm digging this film more and more, you can see that they have taken care to show us Easter Eggs from the original series and the first film.

I hope they don't make Fred go out of character again and we can see some of Fraphne in this film, too.

Did not notice that, that's really cool! I'm glad they're taking the time to give us so many Easter eggs. What do you mean though, "go out of character again?" Did you feel like he did in the first film?

I'm not sure I'd want to see any Fraphne, as she seemed kinda indifferent (maybe even a bit sassy) to him in the first film. I guess I'd like it to be consistent with that, in this case.

I meant that from my point of view he was a bit out of character in the last film, Curse of the 13th Ghost, not to mention Velma...

Oh sorry, thought you were talking about the first Zombie Island film. Velma and Fred were definitely very out-of-character in Curse of the 13th Ghost.
