Yesterday, HBO Max posted the complete The New Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show series on their streaming service, including all episodes of the show remastered in HD for the first time ever. Whenever the episodes had previously appeared on DVD or on the Boomerang streaming service, they were the original tapes that were a bit grainy. This marks the first time these episodes have been remastered, which has lead some fans to believe there may be a DVD release with these remastered episodes in the future.

Me either and I really hope that this leads to an eventual complete series DVD release for both of them!

They better make complete series DVD releases for both of them.

Not many people seem to be commenting or exited for this, huh?

I guess not! I think a lot of people are already subscribed to the Boomerang streaming service, so the idea of getting a subscription to yet another streaming service may not thrill people.

Well, I don't have a subscription to either streaming service, I usually go to cartoon websites to watch what cartoons aren't on DVD, and besides, I prefer physical content. 9/27/2020 09:11:11 pm
Yeah, I prefer physical content as well typically, though I do have a subscription to Boomerang. Not in any hurry to buy an HBO Max subscription though just because they've remastered those.

It's one of the series I would love a whole set of, I just consider myself missing season 2 of the scooby doo show, the new scooby doo mysteries, season 2 of be cool, and all of guess who, but I'll believe it when I actually see the dvds announced...

Haha I'm definitely more completist and I consider myself missing any episode (or special) that's unreleased.

I mean... I'll buy them if they get released, but I won't really care either, though I am really curious what's holding up that second season of Scooby Doo Show as they've done season 1 and 3... is it just they're not sure what to sell it as? Since season 1 was in the scooby-doo/dynomutt set and they keep calling season 3 part of the SDWAY series

I’m excited, I didn’t comment sooner as I wasn’t expecting any news. We don’t have hbo max here in the UK, so Personally I would prefer a blu ray set.

if WB truly cared about this show then I am fairly certain that they would have released this show to DVD, and not streaming, this Actually decreases the chances of it a getting DVD release, since the studio may now feel less inclined to do a physical release since it is now on streaming sites. the thing to keep to in mind is that many shows do come to streaming since, it is more easier to bypasss music rights and other issues on streaming sites rather then release those shows on a physical fromat due to these issues. many shows which are on streaming do not get physical releases.

No, this shows that WB does care. The fact that it's on a big streaming platform is great, cuz everybody cares about streaming, but very few care about physical. It being on HBO Max is better than on DVD cuz so many more people would actually watch it that way and be aware of it.

Yeah, I'm minded to agree with Becker on this one. Most people are watching streaming now, especially with the pandemic impacting production and people's desire to make unnecessary trips to the store, so I'd say that WB does care by this reasoning. I do understand why you would think that though, Whackman.

while it is good this show is remastered in HD, what we should all bear in mind is that many DVD releases often have better quality then those which are on streaming sites. this has clearly been established many times in the past by screenshot shoot comparisons between streaming and DVD and etc... the same goes for bluray releases. this why I prefer a physical format instead, if I see a movie or show which I like out on dvd or bluray then I gladly support and buy the physical format sadly this is not always possible since many dvd go out of print often. when it comes to shows which have not been released on physical format.... well sadly speaking I am usually forced to pirate them.(some rare shows sometimes only have tv rips and not even streaming sites have them)I only wish more people would care about the physical format.

I personally prefer physical content as well, so I definitely understand what you mean. I hope them remastering this series will lead to a DVD release someday, but I guess all we can do is wait and see.

Despite the abudance of streaming services I don't think that the physical format is going to go away completely because their are people who like the physical format.

I really hope it won't, but I could see a scenario way down the road in a few decades where physical media dies out.
