In addition to Batman's counterfeiting speech, there is one more missing scene from "The Dynamic Scooby-Doo Affair." Decades ago, Hanna-Barbera cut the scene to make time for extra commercials. For an unknown reason, despite the episode's popularity, it was not restored on any of its DVD releases.

This second missing scene takes place right when Fred, Velma and Daphne split off from Shaggy and Scooby in the haunted house. It can be slotted right before the sea monster jumps out at them, and provides a little additional context for that scene.

Note that this scene was posted on YouTube back in 2021 by Chorake, who found the other two missing scenes from the series. Somehow, I totally missed that this was shared until now! Like the others, this was found in a 1986 recording of the episode, which featured the 43-minute episode broadcast in full.

Hey WildwindVampire, did you know that SpaceHunterM also uploaded the instrumental versions of the chase songs from foreign dubs such as the French one and also with the pitch and speed converted from PAL to NTSC and the 2000s restored version of the intro of "The New Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show" with the fixed audio because both the 2000s and 2020 restored intros appear to omit the first lyrical part of theme?

I do wish that Warner Archive should release "The New Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show" on DVD and Blu-ray with the fixed audio for the show's intro and what do you think of YouTube user SpaceHunterM, BTW anyway?

I'm sorry I've been away for so long. I've been checking the blog for the past few days, but I didn't really know what to discuss, and none of the poll episodes are particularly memorable to me.

I was planning to watch The New Scooby-Doo Movies on Boomerang on Saturday, but the stream wasn't working all weekend. So, I watched two episodes of the show online, The Ghost of the Red Barron and Caped Crusaders Capers. The Ghost of the Red Barron was a pretty interesting episode. The aviation theme was well-chosen, and the aviation-related sequences were well-executed, especially the scene where Velma is alone in a plane mid-flight. I also liked the Three Stoges' contribution to the episode. I didn't expect their comic book to be so prominent, but it was a better idea than simply saying the Three Stoges can't fly. I'd like to pay tribute to the ghost of Red Barron, the superhero who managed to smash through a window in the scene where he chases the gang into the hangar. I was convinced it was a hologram, but my mistake made me laugh!

I was a little disappointed of Caped Crusaders Capers. I expected the episode to be great since the Joker and the Penguin appeared in it. However, they were less good villains than in The Dynamic Scooby-Doo Affair. The haunted house scene in this episode was only a few minutes long, but it was much funnier and more effective than Caped Crusaders Capers. I also wish the gang and Batman had been together for longer, but I can understand why the writers wanted to try something different compared to The Dynamic Scooby-Doo Affair.

Thanks for the fun fact and the video! It's a shame the scene where Fred, Daphne, and Velma are in the haunted house was removed. It would have been interesting if, like Scooby and Shaggy, they had faced some challenges in the house. Is this just a fragment of the deleted scene?

I've also watched a Looney Tunes movie called Daffy Duck's Quackbusters. Much like in Scooby-Doo, Daffy and Bugs Bunny have an agency of (real) monster hunters. As we discussed two weeks ago, this movie was also based on old cartoons assembled together. There's still a big difference between this movie and Scooby-Doo, but I think Daffy Duck's Quackbusters is a good example of what could be done by assembling together old Scooby episodes. I don't know if this would work well with series like Where Are You, but I think it might be more interesting with the 12-minute Daphne and Scrappy episodes.

Also, I found in another Looney Tunes movie a cameo featuring Shaggy, Scooby, and Matthew Liliard. This movie was released in 2003, so before Liliard became the official voice of Shaggy, and Shaggy complains about Liliard's performance in the Scooby-Doo live-action. I imagine Shaggy must be even angrier now!

That's too bad to hear the stream wasn't working for you! "The Ghost of the Red Baron" is a pretty good one! Agreed the airfield made for an interesting setting, and that the Stooges were great guest stars. It is definitely pretty amusing that the Ghost of the Red Baron smashed through a window haha.

I can totally see why you didn't like that episode! The episode feels like it leans much more into Batman's world than "The Dynamic Scooby-Doo Affair" does, but I still think it's a good episode. Ironically, it seems like we have opposite opinions on these episodes. While still decent, "The Ghost of the Red Baron" is the one that disappoints me a little. The plane scenes feel like they go on for a little too long imo. They could have been shortened a bit to make time for other scenes.

It's actually the whole deleted scene! Interestingly, there appears to be two shorter deleted scenes from this episode instead of one. There's another one, which is linked in the post, where Batman talks about the dangers of counterfeiting. The other missing scene that's been found, from "The Secret of Shark Island," is a single two-minute deleted scene. I'm not sure if this means the other episodes with missing scenes have more than one, or if it's just this episode that they did that for.

That sounds like an interesting parody of Ghostbusters! I hadn't heard of it before. I agree that if they were to piece together scenes from unused Scooby episodes to make a new one, the Daphne and Scrappy episodes would make the most sense.

I'd never seen that clip before, but I had heard of it. That was a fun watch! Thanks for sharing :)

Well, the streaming worked over the weekend, but only when I was doing my homework. It stopped working the moment I stopped working to watch Boomerang… It was a little frustrating, but I consider myself lucky to have access to Boomerang when the channel doesn't exist in Canada. Also, the streaming service only broadcasts Looney Tunes and Hanna-Barbera series, while some Boomerang programs focus on Cartoon Network series. Do you have a choice between these two options in the US?

I agree that the plane scene in The Ghost of the Red Barron was a bit long. It didn't bother me too much, but I understand that others would have preferred it to be shortened.

I'm not a big fan of Batman, but I don't really mind if Caped Crusaders was more in the Batman Universe than Scooby's. I think it's a fair concept, considering that The Dynamic Scooby-Doo Affair was more concentrated on the mystery and unmasking the culprit. Warner Bros should had done that for the two WWE movies, one in Scooby-Doo's world and the other about WWE. I would just have appreciated that the gang and Batman had more screen time together like in the first episode.

Thanks for the clarification! It's strange that tiny fragments of the episode were removed. I imagine the episodes had to be within a certain length, and these small scenes were cut. It would be nice if they were included in a future DVD reissue of The New Scooby-Doo Movies.

I haven't seen Ghostbusters, but Daffy Duck's Quackbusters focuses less on ghosts and includes a wider variety of monsters, like a vampire and a yeti. In the movie, the mysteries aren't interconnected like in Mystery Incorporated, but it would be great if a Scooby equivalent built a similarly grandiose mystery. I think Warner Bros. tried that with Scoob. I found the movie to be a kind of sped-up version of Mystery Incorporated, with Nibiru and Cerberus both coming from the past. If Scoob had been a series, it probably would have gotten closer to what I got with Mystery Incorporated.

You welcome :) I thought this was the first time Monsters Unleashed was announced, but I just checked and the sequel to the first movie was announced in 2002. Too bad, it would have been quite a surprise and good publicity for the Looney Tunes movie if Scooby-Doo 2 had been announced in the movie!

To my knowledge, we don't have anything like that connected to Boomerang in the US! We just have one Boomerang channel that broadcasts a mix of all those series.

I didn't mind it either! I think it's pretty cool we got one episode leaning more towards traditional Scooby, and another leaning more towards Batman. It's an interesting contrast! I agree that doing something similar would have made the WWE movies better! Not sure why they chose a racing plot instead of having one of the movies focused more in Scooby's world.

From what I understand, the episodes were cut down to 41 minutes (instead of 43) to make time for extra commercials. It's really strange that WB didn't bother to restore those scenes when they put out the DVD in 2019. It would be awesome if we get a complete series DVD one day, that finally includes the Addams Family episode and restores those missing scenes from the seven episodes that had them.

Oh gotcha, I'd just assumed the focus was ghosts because of the name. It would be neat to get a Scooby film that had an epic-feeling Mystery Incorporated mystery! I agree that SCOOB! is probably the closest we've gotten something like that. Not sure if you know this, but apparently, SCOOB! was originally supposed to be a Hanna-Barbera version of The Avengers, where various Hanna-Barbera heroes teamed up to solve a mystery. Okay, I guess Boomerang's schedule depends on where you are. So you must have the newer Scooby-Doo shows like Be Cool and Guess Who instead of the older ones like The Scooby-Doo Show?

I also don't understand the idea behind a car race. Scooby-Doo and Shaggy were poorly integrated into the film, as if they were forced to be there in an environment so different from the franchise.

Thanks for the link, this was a super interesting article! SCOOB was released alongside two other Warner Bros. Animation films: Tom and Jerry the Movie, a live-action film, and Space Jam 2. Warner Bros. was probably hoping to revive its animated series, but the results weren't very resounding. Having seen all three films, Tom and Jerry hardly works as a feature film, since you have to add a lot of supporting characters to move the story forward, and those characters end up stealing the show from Tom and Jerry. Space Jam 2 wasn't bad, but the first film is such a classic that a sequel with a video game-style basketball game could hardly top it (Spike Brandt was working on that film, which explains why he didn't cooperate with Tony Cervone for SCOOB). It was like Return on Zombie Island, but not as bad. None of those films had a good posterity. They were mostly trying to stick to tried-and-true elements. I guess Warner Bros. didn't see the point in developing more films, especially since Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, and Scooby-Doo remain the studio's most popular animated series. I can't see The Jetsons or Yogi Bear, or even The Flintstones, attracting a larger audience. In a way, Meet the Flintstones and the next Tom and Jerry film will be crucial to Hanna-Barbera's future. Let's hope they'll be more successful.

Returning to SCOOB, I understand the reason for not doing a crossover with Hanna-Barbera characters. I don't know if Scooby-Doo and its mystery and adventure elements would have worked with The Flintstones and Grape Ape, which are more associated with Hanna-Barbera's early period, with funnier series. Scooby would have to be accompanied by characters in the same genre as him, like Space Ghost, Thundarr the Barbarian, or Johnny Quest (he actually has a crossover with Tom and Jerry). I think a Hanna-Barbera film series would have been more interesting, like Warner Bros. has started doing with DC. I don't mind if the films aren't interconnected, but it would make a great timeline. A villain appears in the Flintstones era, then returns in the Scooby-Doo era, then in the Jetsons future. It's a bit like all the detective groups from the past in Mystery Incorporated. I hope Warner Bros. goes in that direction, but it's possible the failure of the three 2020-2021 films has put them off.
In any case, if Warner Bros. does move forward, it will be important to me that the studio removes product placement from the films. It wasn't fun in SCOOB, but it was just as much difficult in the other two films. In Space Jam 2, the Looney Tunes have the Nike logo on their jerseys. In Tom and Jerry, I remember the butler of the hotel Jerry stayed in saying, “Imagine if this mouse appears on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook…” At the very least, Warner Bros. should remove product placements from the characters’ lines.

Referencing a website wouldn't necessarily be product placement in itself, but considering the guy in the movie explicitly gets the names of all of them wrong I'd say it's part of a joke.

Looking at the schedule for this week, looks like Where Are You, The Scooby-Doo Show, The Richie Rich / Scooby-Doo Hour, Pup, Be Cool, and Guess Who are a part of their schedule. Also, while looking at their schedule, this description amused me. Glad you liked the article! I haven't seen any of those films, but interesting to know that you felt Space Jam 2 was similar to Return to Zombie Island. I had heard that it was poorly received, so that would line up. It will be really interesting to see if Meet the Flintstones (and Tom and Jerry) are successful for WB. I imagine they will probably be very hesitant to put anything else out if those don't do well, especially given they have completely stopped releasing Scooby DTVs despite those presumably continuing to perform pretty well.

It would be cool to see what came out of their original Hanna-Barbera Cinematic Universe idea, although I think what Tony said about the characters not meshing well makes total sense. There were some storyboard animatics for the original film concept posted by an Instagram account last year, and it did seem like it would have been starkly different from the typical tone of Scooby. I know many people don't agree, but I liked what we got with SCOOB! and thought it was a very cute movie. It would be interesting to see a Hanna-Barbera Cinematic Universe executed in a Marvel-like way, where there are different interconnected plotlines throughout different Hanna-Barbera films. I would be really curious to see what they could do with that concept!

Interesting to know you didn't like the product placement! I've never really thought much about the product placement, or the referencing of social media platforms. The product placement doesn't bother me too much unless it's super overt, but I also am usually not a big fan of them being referenced. I didn't mind the one there was in SCOOB!, but personally I find them to usually lean towards being cringey instead of fun/trendy.
