The Internet game Crystal Cove Online includes a Pup Named Scooby-Doo reference that is not in the show. In one sidequest, Angel asks Shaggy and Scooby to pick up script pages at the Terrorpheum Theater. When picking up the pages, Shaggy makes comments about Coolsville and Red Herring.

I would be really interested to see something like that! Maybe they could even do it in an "Into the Spider-Verse" type style, where the gang meets all the different versions of themselves.

I was having trouble finding any connection between A Pup Named Scooby-Doo and Mystery Incorporated. The difference in cities is probably the most difficult thing to connect the dots between these two series. However, a few additional details also caused me problems.

For example, it's difficult to establish who Fred's parents are. Indeed, the episode "A Terrifying Round With A Menacing Metallic Clown" from the series "What's New Scooby-Doo" features images of the younger gang with the same design as in "A Pup Named Scooby-Doo" (by the way, I agree with you that the season sets for this series are the best choices. I have them too and really like them!). We can therefore consider this last series and "What's New" to follow the same timeline. However, in Pirates Ahoy, Fred's parents are completely different from Mayor Jones, Brad Chiles, and Judy Reeves.

Furthermore, in A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, we learn that Shaggy's father is a police officer, a profession we don't see him practicing in Mystery Incorporated. Perhaps he's changed his career path. There's also Shaggy's sister, Margaret Rogers, who appears in A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, but isn't mentioned in Mystery Incorporated.

So, I'm having a hard time finding a connection between these two series with such different atmospheres. Thanks again for this valuable information!

All I know so far is that A Pup Named Scooby-Doo and What's New are connected, just like Mystery Incorporated, Where Are You, and the Scrappy-Doo era. Add the movies to this puzzle, haha!

I took my Sunday afternoon to advance my analysis of Big Top. It's much more difficult than Abracadabra-Doo, but I finished the sections about the monster and the mystery. The only thing missing is a paragraph about the supporting characters, and perhaps the argument between Shaggy and Scooby, since it's probably one of the least enjoyable elements of this film.

I still took the time to look at your ranking of the series. Thanks for sharing your ranking with me! I found your arguments well-constructed regarding the place of each series. For example, I hadn't considered 13th Ghosts to be a half-dark, half-humorous series.

I also think you're absolutely right about Guess Who. I recognize that it's primarily a nostalgia series, very dependent on what the guest star brings to the table. Personally, Guess Who was the only accessible series when I started watching Scooby-Doo. It was the first time I discovered the fracnhise's formula and the personalities of each member of the gang. I think that's why I ranked it so high.
As for Mystery Incorporated, I agree that it's an excellent show and a must-see in the franchise. I think that just out of personal taste, I prefer watching What's New or A Pup Named Scooby-Doo simply because those shows are funnier and lighter.

As for Be Cool, I watched it at the same time as Guess Who. Since I was just starting to watch Scooby-Doo (it's only been three months since I finished Where Are You), the designs didn't really bother me. The mysteries and monsters are pretty good. I just grew tired of the humor and characters in this show. I also liked the effort to give Daphne more space, but I felt it was a bit much at times. I guess the idea was to swap Fred and Daphne's usual personalities. Seriously, I really don't understand why I don't like it...

I also noticed that Laff-A-Lympics was particularly high in my ranking, probably because I really like the Yogi Yahooeys. The Scooby Doobies were also interesting, although I would have preferred Velma, Fred, Daphne, and Scrappy to be present. I also really enjoyed Snagglepuss and Mildew Wolf as commentators. The country changes also made the show less monotonous than if all the activities had taken place in a stadium. I would have loved to have a Flintstones-Jetsons team-up, even though Fred makes a brief appearance in the series.

Thanks again for your ranking! By the way, I'd be curious to see your ranking of last year's about the movies. Here is my top 10. I hope to give a complete ranking when I'll watch all the movies :)

Personally I view it as being as in a separate timeline from Pup, but I think there's another possible explanation in the finale. I know you're still watching the series though, so I won't ruin that for you! :)

Thanks, so glad you enjoyed my rankings! That totally makes sense why you'd rank Guess Who so high given it was the series that introduced you to Scooby! The New Scooby-Doo Movies being my favorite series is partially because I have so much nostalgia over watching it when I was younger. That's fair about not liking the humor in Be Cool! Pup and WNSD definitely have a different vibe, so I can see why you'd like that better if you enjoy the franchise having a more down-to-Earth writing (rather than the zaniness/absurd humor of Be Cool).

That would have been cool to have George Jetson make an appearance in Laff-a-Lympics! I enjoyed Fred's guest commentating in the couple episodes that he did it. Not sure if you knew this, but I've also always thought it was cool that Alan Reed recorded his final lines as Fred Flintstone in the series premiere before his passing.

Haha, thanks for not spoiling Mystery Incorporated to me :) I'm up to the Aliens Among Us episode and I have to hurry up and finish the series before I have to return the DVD to the library. I really liked the episode with Blue Falcon and Dynomutt. Dynomutt has a much funnier personality than in Scoob! I also liked that Race and Dr. Quest were included.

Thank you so much for sharing your movie rankings! I completely agree with you about movie eras. In my opinion, the movies started to decline starting with Frankencreepy. The supporting characters aren't as good as they were in Abracadabra-Doo and Camp Scare. With the exception of the DC and Scoob movies, there aren't really any movies I like from this era that I've seen (I still have to see Straight Outta Nowhere, Trick or Treat, and the WWE crossovers).

I discovered your blog while researching the best films in the franchise. I frequently consulted your 2022 ranking and compared it to the 2024 ranking. The top 10 seems unchanged, except for the arrival of Where's My Mummy (I haven't seen it yet, but I got spoiled by reading a ScreenRant ranking...). I was really surprised that Daphne and Velma is now at number 20. It's the only live-action film I don't have on DVD yet, and I was really wondering how good it was. Well, it's still in the top 20!

I completely agree with your first choice. Ghoul School is a very original film with well-developed characters. My only minor criticism is that I sometimes felt like Ghoul School would have been better as a series than as a movie. Indeed, it's made up of several small stories, like the volleyball game or the meeting with the girls' fathers, which don't necessarily follow a common thread. Furthermore, Revolta takes a while to put her plan into action and only really starts to move towards the end. It might have been more interesting to split the film into several episodes. That way, it would have been possible to develop other stories at the end of those contained in the film, instead of closing the door on a sequel with Shaggy Scooby and Scrappy leaving the school.

Aside from that, I really enjoyed the film! The atmosphere was great, and the Calloway Cadets allowed the girls to be more prominent. The school also has an impressive design! Now that I think about it, it would be great if, with the House Flipper 2 DLC, we could also build locations like Ghoul School or Whirlen Castle! :)

I actually liked the Scoob! Dynomutt a little better, but that's great that you liked Dynomutt better here! Yeah, the Jonny Quest references were awesome!

As you saw in my rankings, Straight Outta Nowhere is actually one of my favorite films from the past 10 years! I really liked the dark tone and thought they did a great job mixing the tones of both franchises. I liked Trick or Treat too, although that one has a humor style similar to Be Cool, so I'm not sure if you'll enjoy that one as much.

Sorry that Where's My Mummy got spoiled for you! As you unfortunately know, I loved the twist at the end and how unique the film structure was compared to others. Honestly, I'm probably one of the few fans to like Daphne & Velma lol. It's completely different than any of the other four films, but honestly it kinda felt like the Scooby version of a Disney Channel Original Movie. Velma's characterization is a little flat, but Daphne's actress does a great job and I liked her character arc explored her trying to be less sheltered and more independent. (Which isn't a spoiler btw, that's revealed in the first 10 minutes or so of the film) Like I mentioned in the post about Daphne's character evolution last month, it felt like an interesting way to interpolate some of the different versions of her character throughout the franchise. It's actually my favorite live-action characterization of Daphne.

I would love to have seen a Ghoul School series! I agree with you that it would have made a really cool show, and would have allowed for the same gradual introduction to the girls like the film did. It would have been awesome to have the Revolta scenes as an overarching story arc for the show.

That would be awesome to have Ghoul School and Whirlen Merlin-themed levels for the House Flipper 2 game! There actually used to be an Abracadabra Doo game where you got to explore the castle, and set traps for the griffin and banshee. It was posted on the WB website to promote the movie, but unfortunately, they removed it a few years ago.
