In "Grim Judgment" from Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated, Brad and Judy's show Sternum to Sternum is a parody of a real-life mystery show called Hart to Hart. The show ran from 1979-1984. Hart to Hart was created by Sidney Sheldon, who is most famous for creating I Dream of Jeannie - featuring the same Jeannie whom Scooby and the gang met in "Mystery in Persia" from The New Scooby-Doo Movies.

A more interesting fact about Grim Judgment is that when we see inside the yearbook the names of the students are based on the production crew of mystery Inc

I'd noticed that as well and posted it as one of the first fun facts back in 2015.

(Hastily checks google) well so you did. Clearly what I meant was that it was more than that one guy. Yeah, that was it. Weird that some used the crews full name but others just use their last names.

did you see the live action scooby show guy talked about it in a interview??? https://deadline.com/2024/07/greg-berlanti-ponders-peak-tv-strikes-scooby-doo-scarlett-johansson-and-channing-tatum-chemistry-in-fly-me-to-the-moon-1236005236/amp/

It reads to me that they have the overall concept and idea for how to approach this live-action series, but they haven't begun actually writing the episodes yet. Berlanti says it took a year and a half to find the right pitch for the show, which is something we knew, so they have a rough idea about what to do. But they haven't decided yet exactly how to start the show, hence why he said he is still pitching the first episode plot. Seems Berlanti is quite involved in the show if he's supposedly writing episodes (or at least the pilot), not just producing. We know he's not one of the showrunners technically, but I'm hopeful he'll take good care of the project, given his extensive history with William Hanna, Joseph Barbera and the HB properties. The interview was really insightful in how Will and Joe worked, how they went about their business, part of how Scooby-Doo came to be (with details I don't think we've heard before) etc.

@Jinkies Thanks so much for sharing this! I hadn't read the interview yet, but I just made a post about it.

Thankfully the guy who was the showrunner, and thus calling the shots, for Riverdale isn't working on this series. Berlanti was only an executive producer on that show, which sometimes can mean almost doing nothing but pumping some money into the project. I still don't expect an amazing show until proven otherwise, but at least it won't be a disrespectful trainwreck like Velma. Leave a Reply. |
