The 2004 Scooby-Doo Internet game Horror on the High Seas started with a cut scene of Shaggy and Scooby waking up on a cruise ship with a pirate ship next to them, without us knowing how they got there. However, it was recently uncovered that the game originally had a much longer original cut scene at the beginning that was removed before the game came out. This one minute long lost cut scene gave backstory to how Shaggy and Scooby became trapped on the boat. It also mentioned that Fred, Velma and Daphne were in Transylvania solving a mystery at a castle, which gave a backstory to why they do not appear in the game. It is unknown why the original cut scene was removed, but it can be watched in the YouTube video above. Thanks to Becker for coming up with the idea for this week's fun fact!

Before seeing this video when I first played this game I thought Fred, Daphne, and Velma were on the cruise as well and disappeared with the other passengers.

This is very interesting piece of the game. I wonder if the Mayan Mayhem and Christmas games have deleted scenes as well.

I would be interested to know as well, but I think Becker is right that they likely don't. This cut scene makes sense since it felt like there was a chunk missing at the beginning, but the beginning of the other ones doesn't seem like it has anything missing.

I assume it's because of the length of the opening, why they decided to trim it down a lot. However it wouldn't be a good excuse imo, cuz Mayan Monster Mayhem's opening was about as long as this one, and Haunts for the Holidays' was 3 and a half minutes long and had skip buttons.

Btw, the game doesn't start with Shaggy and Scooby trapped on the pirate ship. They are still on the cruise ship, with the pirate ship planted next to the cruise ship.

I think you're probably right. Maybe just because it was the first game, they weren't sure if people would be annoyed by the cut scenes or not? Idk. I liked the skip buttons in Haunts for the Holidays as sometimes I'd skip the cut scenes if I'd already seen them.

Nice! It was kind of uneventful and unmemorable IMO but I am admittedly not a fan of Looney Tunes, so I'm probably not the best person to comment on it. I made a post about it. Thanks for the info!

You're Welcome, and it was a fun little animation to watch for me with the choice of characters, the gag, and a reference to a classic monster.

Actually I remember waaay back in the day, both this game and the one with the Mayan Monster had some kind of mini site (?) that showed this opening sequence. For the Mayan Monster game, there was an opening sequence of Scooby and Shaggy cooking and seeing in the recipe book that they need those rare peppers.

I don't remember the mini-site at all, but that is so cool! I wish there was a way to see the mini-site, but I doubt it would be fully archived.
