You may remember from Fun Fact #354 in June 2021 that Scooby-Doo! Music of the Vampire and Big Top Scooby-Doo were originally one movie called Scooby-Doo and the Circus of Vampires in an early stage of production. ScoobyDooUK found a cool storyboard from Big Top Scooby-Doo! for sale that confirms Big Top, Scooby-Doo! actually went through another name change before it was named what we know it to be today. A storyboard for the film refers to it as Scooby-Doo and the Circus of Werewolves, meaning it must have gone through a second name change before Big Top Scooby-Doo! was decided upon.

Scooby Doo: Music of The Vampire:
I liked this movie and the fact that it was a full on musical. I thought they did a really good job with it.

The first song Bayou Breeze by Tulie was good way to start the movie. It was also pretty mysterious. It was funny that Tulie was hitting the alligators. It’s was gross when he at that leech and served Shaggy and Scooby leech soup. I liked that he did a recap of what the plot of the movie was about.

After the gang solve another mystery, they decided to take a break from mystery solving. That’s crazy because no matter where they go there’s always going to be a mystery to solve.

The song Done With Monsters that they sang was good and pretty catchy. It was cool that they did it again at the end of the movie.

I liked the setting of Vampire Palooza. Vincent Van Helsing being the great great grandson of Abraham Van Helsing was cool. I liked that Silverlight is a parody of Twilight.

Lord Valdronya was a great and creepy villain. His eyes glowing while he was in the glass tomb was spooky. The summoning scene was also pretty spooky. It was cool that he can mesmerize people and shoot flames. The chase scene with him, Shaggy, Scooby and the old woman hitting them was funny.

Bram and Fangenshanz were also great villains. All of their vampire song performances were great.

It’s funny that the Sheriff looks and talked just like Don Knotts.

The scene with Shaggy and Scooby trying to say goodbye to each other but they end up staying together still was sweet.

Scooby and Me has to be my favorite song from this movie. It was super sweet that Shaggy and Scooby did a song expressing their friendship.

Vincent Van Helsing as the culprit was super obvious. He did the whole vampire wedding thing for publicity, restore his family legacy and sell books.

In the end, they sang done with monsters again and expect to go on a real vacation and no more mysteries. Yah good luck with that.

While it wasn't my favorite movie, this was decent. Lord Valdronya was a super creepy villain! Yeah, I liked the Don Knotts-like sheriff as well. The songs were okay, they were kind of hit or miss for me. The scene where Shaggy and Scooby say goodbye to each other was sad! Yeah, it was pretty obvious Van Helsing was the culprit.

Big Top Scooby Doo:
This was a pretty fun movie. The opening was funny with the cop asking the other cop if the werewolf is his mom. He told him to shut up and admits that the werewolf
does kind of look like his mom.

I like the idea of the gang going to a circus and participating in the circus.

The werewolf was a great villain. He steals jewelry, terrorizes the circus, kidnaps people and turns them into werewolves.

It was funny that Marius thought garlic was the weakness for werewolves. It was funny that Shaggy thought Sweden, Australia, and Kangaroos aren’t real. He gets it from Wulfric von Moon.

The thing with Shaggy becoming a huge star and acting like a jerk to Scooby was so the drama. It was funny in Shaggy’s dream that Scooby became human and acted a lot like Shaggy.

I liked the final showdown where everyone was being chased by the werewolves. The realized that Whitney Doubleday was Werewolf and he trained his baboons to be the other werewolves. Archembult stopped him with the tranquilizer gun and they saved everybody that was tied up.

I suspected that Archembult was a part of it after Doubleday said you won’t take us that easy. I liked that scene with Shaggy and Scooby on the train and going up against Archembult. Shaggy apologized for being a jerk to him, they hugged, managed to defeat Archembult and high five each other.

The ending was nice with Wulfric and his band doing a prove concert for the gang and Marius.

I enjoyed this movie. The bit with the cops was funny. I thought the werewolf was a great villain as well! The comment where Shaggy says he thinks kangaroos aren't real was weird given he's been to Australia haha. Shaggy becoming a star and becoming arrogant was an interesting plotline to explore. The end scene was intense and well-done! I will admit that I did not guess the culprit and I liked that little twist at the end.

Interesting points:
- Only 4 of the episodes had ranges under 10 (Clue, Tiki, Snow Ghost, Miner) and none under 5, with 4 over 20 and a mean average range of 14.8. This suggests that, from our small sample size, everybody has their own favourite episodes which might not correspond with the norm. For example A night of Fright is no Delight was many people's top episode but one person still ranked it 20th whilst Bedlam in the Big Top also suffered a similar fate, being ranked 24th by one person whilst everybody else ranked it at least mid-tier. Meanwhile on the episode end of the spectrum, many of the lower ranked episodes were almost always ranked highly by at least one person, most notable what The Hex is Going On, which was ranked both 1st and last or Never Ape an Ape Man which was ranked 4th on one person's list giving it a whopping 22 points.

- This means the Medians or Middle numbers, often provide us with the best outlook overall as this eliminates the Outliers, this list is below:

- Although for many there is just a change of one or two places, two with the biggest outliers see an increase (Bedlam in the Big Top) of three places and a decrease of four places (What the Hex), whilst Jeepers its the Creepers outlier is annihilated also catapulting it up the rankings. Meanwhile, an interesting point is Don't Fool with a Phantom which suffered the biggest drop as it only amassed two high scores and the rest were mid-tier 12, 14, 15.

Anyway enough pointless analysis.

This is a really neat analysis! I am a little surprised that “What the Hex Going On?” ended up being so controversial. Otherwise, the order seems pretty logical and nothing seems higher or lower than I would have expected. Hope you had fun visiting your family!

Thanks, what I think this has shown is you need more data. The more people who rank the episodes the less impact outliers would have, but you'll still get one or two that split the fandom such as What the Hex is Going on and Don't Fool with a Phantom.

Probably the only place I’ve seen such distaste for What the Hex Going On, which is a shame. Would probably rank pretty terribly without my 1 spot

Regardless, very interesting analysis, not totally surprised by any of it given what we see in the comments here, but yeah

The episode has some good moments but overall it's nowhere near the best in my eyes. The ending was very rushed and many bits were just meh, like the guard dog, Swami, floating table etc. not to forget Uncle Stewarts glasses under the makeup. What made it problematic as well was Kingston's power to age people, we only see that once unsurprisingly as it was all down to make-up. On the contrary, the mummy of ankha was able to kidnap numerous people and then replace them with stone statues, adding a much greater level of fear and scare factor to the episode.
