Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard and Freddie Prinze Jr. had a long history of working together prior to the first two live action movies. Both Lillard and Prinze starred in the 1999 films "Wing Commander" and "She's All That," the latter of which also had a brief uncredited appearance from Gellar. The 2001 film "Summer Catch" featured both Lillard and Prinze as well, with Gellar in a small role. Prinze and Gellar would also star together in "I Know What You Did Last Summer," and Gellar and Lillard worked together in "Scream 2."
Thanks to Becker for coming up with this fun fact!

You have some amazing connections, Lance! Those sound like such cool movies and I would have loved to see them! Do you know why that first one got completely scrapped?

The writers left in protest of the way they were being treated by WB. Falk talks about this in his appearance on A Podcast Named Scooby-Doo 6/1/2020 02:00:12 pm
Thank you for the info and it's a shame how poorly WB treats their writers sometimes. I really need to listen to more of A Podcast Named Scooby-Doo. It's on the list of so many other things I want to do and Scooby podcasts I want to listen to. I'm in the middle of Dos or Don'ts at the moment - I've listened to about 200 episodes - only 200 more (+2 more each week) to go haha. I'll have to check out A Podcast Named Scooby-Doo sometime sooner than that though!

The Mark Evanier one is a great episode. He mentions that Scrappy's owner was going to be Daphne's niece but that character was dropped in development (also, at one point, Scrappy didn't talk) 6/1/2020 06:09:44 pm
That episode sounds amazing! Will definitely put that one at the top of my list! :)

Yeah yeah yeah Matthew Lillard was also in the first Scream and was a guy who talked about murder, which is funny since he plays a character that is scared of everything to do with mysteries.(shaggy)
