Frank Welker has just confirmed that there will be a sequel to SCOOB! as we heard back in June. He answers this on his website (the 7th entry down) where he says "My next Scooby Doo project is working on the sequel to “Scoob” and we have just completed the first session. There will be many more recordings before we are finished."
In addition in a GalaxyCon interview, Frank reveals he will be in Velma. While it sounds like he won't be playing Fred or Scooby, he does say the show "is loosely based on the Scooby-Doo characters, and it's kind of a different version of all that. But the character I play is a little different sounding for me, so when I come back to it, they'll play a reference tape." Thank you so much to Ben for sharing this info with me!

So Frank won't be playing Fred or Scooby (the latter of which they say isn't in the show). Not that it wasn't obvious already, cuz they're not going for the usual voice actors, with Mindy Kaling as Velma. But wonder who he would play instead.

I'm very interested to see who he'll play as well! Maybe a minor character, or one of the villains (since he said it's a different-sounding character from his usual)?

I find it interesting that they're already recording for SCOOB 2. Yet, why isn't this being properly reported? They're being rather blasé about it.

They technically haven't announced if it's a film or a TV series yet (even though most people seem to be assuming it's a series), so maybe they are waiting until they're ready to announce if it's a film or series for the proper announcement? I'm not really sure, I guess.

I found most people assuming it would be SCOOB 2 by default. But Tony Cervone said it would come back as something. 12/14/2021 08:59:06 am
That's my thought too. I think it's equally likely that it could be a TV series.

I'm so excited he's in Velma too! I hope it leads more people to give the series a chance. I know some people didn't care for SCOOB!, but I really enjoyed the film as well and am really looking forward to a sequel/potential series!

I hope Frank Welker continue to be part of the Scooby franchise for years and years to come. I'm really looking forward to seeing clips of Velma soon! And I definitely can't wait to see the SCOOB! sequel. I know the first movie didn't follow the traditional Scooby Doo formula, but it was still a great movie to me!

Me too. I'm glad the rumors of Frank quitting the franchise don' t seem to be true. I'm really interested to see clips for Velma too! Yeah, the SCOOB! sequel should be fun. I enjoyed the first movie a lot even if it didn't necessarily feel like "traditional Scooby" like you said.

At this point Frank will never retire by choice as Fred and Scooby, he'll keep doing it for however long he'll be able to. 12/28/2021 07:14:02 pm
I truly hope he does do it until he's not able to anymore. He's clearly very passionate about voicing Fred and Scooby, and is arguably the most-loved voice actor in the franchise's history. Leave a Reply. |
