Today’s fan profile is Michal, better known as Manbearpig from the ScoobyAddicts forum! Michael is a regular poster on there, writes his own Scooby-Doo fanfiction and is working on creating a Scooby-Doo Tumblr page! Check out Michal’s profile below:
1. What is your name? My name's Michał (eng. Michael) I'm 25 and I'm a Polish Scooby fan. 2. How did you get into Scooby-Doo? I love Scooby Doo since I watched it for the first time at the age of 6, but I rediscovered the franchise about 2 years ago and since then I'm a major Scooby fan. 3. What is your favorite Scooby-Doo episode and film? Why? My favorite series is Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated (the second half of season 1 and the whole season 2). That's because of its dark mood and overarching story. Scooby Doo Where Are You is my second favorite series, despite being 50 years old. My favorite episodes from older series are Foul Play in Funland, Mystery Mask Mix-Up, and That's Snow Ghost from SDWAY and Vampires, Cats and Scaredy Cats, Watt a Shocking Ghost, and The No-Faced Zombie Chase from The Scooby Doo Show. They have the best atmosphere, humor, and plots among the rest of the episodes. My favorite movies are Camp Scare, Abracadabra Doo, Legend of the Phantosaur, The Witch's Ghost and Zombie Island. The first three are very close to being a perfect Scooby Doo movie with many original ideas and a great balance of horror and comedy, especially in Camp Scare. I really enjoyed watching Scooby gang spending free time in Camp Scare. Speaking about the last two movies, Zombie Island has the best animation of all Scooby Doo series and movies and I have a lot of childhood memories with the Witch's Ghost 4. What ways are you involved in the Scooby fandom online? I'm writing and publishing my own fanfiction. I'm also about to start my own Scooby Doo blog on Tumblr 5. In your opinion, what is the best series or era of Scooby? The best era of Scooby Doo is the 2010 - 2013 era for many reasons. First of all, that's when Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated premiered. In my opinion, it's the best Scooby Doo series ever made, despite its flaws and annoying romances. That era also contains high-quality DTV movies, like Abracadabra Doo, Camp Scare or Legend of the Phantosaur. I also love the original 1969-1970 era with Scooby Doo Where Are You? The 1998 - 2001 movies were also great, especially Zombie Island and the Witch's Ghost, but I prefer Scooby Doo to be more down-to-earth, with no supernatural elements. 6. If they could make a sequel to one Scooby-Doo series or film, what would it be? Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated, I think. There's a potential for an interesting story with the gang being the students of the Miskatonic University. 7. What direction would you like to see the franchise go in the future? I'd like to see another overarching story in a Scooby Doo series. 8. Who is your favorite member of the gang and why? Definitely Velma. She's a cute, smart and no-nonsense girl. She deserves more love... 9. What is your favorite villain? Why? Professor Pericles. He was the sickest maniac I've ever seen in a children's cartoon. 10. In your opinion, who is the best recurring (non-gang) character in the franchise? Marcie Fleach aka Hot Dog Water from SDMI. She had a quite complex personality and her relationship with Velma was very unique. I'd love to see her in a Scooby Doo series or movie again. 11. Do you have a Scooby-Doo collection? If so, what’s in it? Well... I have only a Chinese bootleg LEGO Mystery Machine set complemented with bootleg LEGO Daphne and bootleg LEGO Velma. And also, my girlfriend owns a board game - Scooby Doo Parcheesi. 12. What do you think has made the franchise so popular that it’s still going strong after 50 years? I think the most important reason is the diversity of Scooby Doo incarnations. There were so many ideas aimed to keep the audience interested. For example, introducing Scrappy Doo in 1979, the new takes on the franchise like 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo, A Pup Named Scooby Doo, Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated with its overarching story, the comedic Be Cool Scooby Doo and last, but not least, the Scooby Doo Apocalypse comic series. Sometimes, the creators were deciding to return to the good old concepts, relying on viewers' nostalgia like returning to the more classic character designs in this year's Scooby Doo and Guess Who. Nevertheless, the main idea was almost always remaining the same: Scooby Doo and his friends solving mysteries together and there's always a different take on that idea. There's no place for boredom in the Scooby Doo franchise 13. What is one fun fact about you in real life? I like trains. I really like trains. I've traveled around half of Europe by train… 14. Please feel free to share anything else you’d like to here! Actually, despite being a Scooby fan, I'm more of a cat person. Thanks so much to Michal for his detailed answers! Feel free to leave him a comment in the section below.

Great profile, Michal. I agree the romance in SD:MI was annoying. I had no idea there was a Scooby Doo Parcheesi. I love that game and now I have to try to find it!!
