Thanks to Shadowscooby for suggesting the idea for this week's poll! Looking at last week's results, "Doo Not Disturb" is our winner!
What is your favorite dark episode of a traditionally comedy-focused Scooby-Doo series? Doo Not Disturb - 23 Curse of the Collar - 11 Into the Mouth of Madcap - 8 Moonlight Madness - 8 Typically, I've posted an article during the first week of each month. Just wanted to give a heads up that there won't be an article this week. I'm purposefully holding this month's article back to later in the month, for a reason that will become apparent once the article is posted lol.

I was thinking about this question the other day, and thought it would be interested to do a poll on it. The three silliest, most comedy-focused Scooby series (the Scrappy shorts, A Pup Named Scooby-Doo and Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!) have featured at least one episode that experiments with integrating a dark tone into the show's comedic formula.
Subjective questions like these are difficult to set firm criteria for, but I picked what I feel are the most dark episodes of each series. There are a few other episodes in each series that are darker/spookier, but I'm sticking to the most significantly dark episodes of each series for this poll. "Into the Mouth of Madcap" and "Doo Not Disturb" are both noticably very dark compared to the show's usual vibe, so I included two for Be Cool, Scooby-Doo. I was really curious to see the results of last week's poll! I've never really had a sense of how many fans collect every release vs. just some of them. It was interesting to see it was a mix of pretty much all the options! Here are the results for last week's poll: How do you collect your Scooby-Doo home media releases? Collect only the releases I need to own all the episodes - 24 Collect all releases, regardless of if I already own every episode - 13 I do not own any Scooby-Doo home media sets - 7 Collect just the releases with interesting themes - 5 Collect a specific niche format of Scooby media, then pick and choose what other sets I want - 2 Before we dive into this week's poll, here are the results for last week's! What is your favorite episode where the culprit is never seen or mentioned before the unmasking? Spooky Space Kook - 23 Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Werewolf - 11 To Switch a Witch - 9 Guess Who's Knott Coming to Dinner? - 6 Sandy Duncan's Jekyll and Hydes - 6 Hassle in the Castle - 5 The Mystery of Haunted Island - 3 The Haunted Carnival - 3 The Ghostly Creep from the Deep - 2 Bedlam in the Big Top - 1 This week's poll is something I've always wondered about! My assumption has been that many fans buy just the sets with themes that interest them, or collect any set that's released. However, I'm really curious to know how all of you collect Scooby-Doo home media sets! A big part of my inspiration for creating the How to Have a Complete Scooby-Doo Collection Guide is because I only collect the releases I need to own all the episodes. If a release comes out that eliminates the need to own a different release, I'll usually sell the DVDs I don't need anymore. For example, when Scooby's All-Star Laff A Lympics: The Complete Series Blu-Ray was released, I sold the previous volume sets and Spooky Games. (Don't take away my Scooby fan card, lol) There are a few exceptions to this. I have nostalgia over the Winter Wonderdog and Best of The New Scooby-Doo Movies sets, so I keep those despite owning the Almost Complete Collection and Holiday Chills and Thrills set. I also have kept the Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Volume 1 VHS out of nostalgia, and The Ghoul, The Bat and the Ugly & To Switch a Witch because I always wanted that one as a kid before we got the complete first series of Scrappy lol. Since last mentioning my journey to collect all the rare Scooby VHS tapes with episodes unreleased anywhere else, I got super lucky and was able to find the Puppy Dog Tales VHS! The next one on my list is the Hanna-Barbera's Personal Favorites tape. Thus far, I've found a lot of UK versions of the tape online, but haven't seen the US version of the tape anywhere thus far. I don't think I've ever shared pics of my full Scooby home media collection on here! I've attached pics below :) Would love to see pics of others' collections if you want to share! These are already in the other photos, but here are the rare pieces of Scooby media that I'm proud to own! :) As you can see, I got the Puppy Dog Tales VHS since last mentioning my goal of collecting the Scooby VHS tapes with unreleased media! The only VHS that I'm still looking to add to my collection is the Hanna-Barbera Personal Favorites tape.
This was something I'd been thinking about recently. It's kind of interesting how this happened a bunch of times in the classic era, but to my memory, hasn't happened at all in the classic era. I'm curious to see which of these episodes is people's favorite!
This is kind of a weird trope, so I've forgotten any, don't hesitate to let me know in the comments! There are a couple I chose not to include (i.e. they do technically meet the fortune teller, even if she turns out to be in disguise), so if you think I've missed one that should count, feel free to drop a comment. Since February, we've been doing an ongoing poll series to determine the best Scooby-Doo recurring character. The results to the final round ended with a somewhat surprising (but imo very deserving) winner! Vincent Van Ghoul wins the title of best Scooby-Doo recurring character, with just a single vote lead over Scooby-Dum! Who is your favorite Scooby-Doo recurring character? Vincent Van Ghoul - 13 Scooby-Dum - 12 Thorn - 8 Sheriff Stone - 8 The Harlem Globetrotters - 5 Red Herring - 4 Del Chillman - 3 Yogi Bear - 3 Captain Cutler (Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!) - 1 Dusk - 1 Gibby Norton - 1 Simone - 1 0 votes: Mumbly, Luna, Snagglepuss, Robi, Gigi, Yabba-Doo We've been doing this recurring characters poll series for over two months. Now, it's finally time to bring all the winning options together to determine the best recurring character! The final spot for this week's poll went to The Harlem Globetrotters, who had a strong lead over any other option.
What is your favorite recurring guest star in The New Scooby-Doo Movies and Guess Who? The Harlem Globetrotters - 26 Batman and Robin - 14 Don Knotts - 9 Sandy Duncan - 4 Cher - 4 Mark Hamill - 3 The Three Stooges - 3 We're circling back for our last poll before the final round for this recurring characters poll series! This week's poll will determine who gets the remaining spot in next week's final round. There are a number of guest stars from The New Scooby-Doo Movies and Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? who appear more than once. I included Mark Hamill in this group, because he voices Corey in "Mystery in Persia" before appearing as himself as "The Sword, The Fox, and the Scooby-Doo!".
Last week marked the end of our four weeks of Laff a Lympics polls. Checking back in on our announcers poll from last week, Snagglepuss wins the round with ease! He advances to the final round next week. Who is your favorite Laff-a-Lympics announcer? Snagglepuss - 20 Mildew - 10 Voiceover Guy - 5 Fred Flintstone - 5 Jabberjaw - 3 Barney Rubble - 0 Now that we've done all three Laff-A-Lympics team, it's time to move on to the announcers! We're including both the main commentators, the voiceover announcer (Don Messick), and the three guest commentators. It would be so silly if the final round ended with Fred Flintstone or Barney Rubble as the best Scooby-Doo recurring character, but hey, they technically count lol!
Checking in on last week's results, Mumbly advances to the final round in two weeks! Who is your favorite member of the Really Rottens? Mumbly - 21 Daisy Mayhem - 7 Dread Baron - 6 The Great Fondoo - 3 Magic Rabbit - 3 Orful Octopus - 2 Sooey Pig - 2 Dastardly Dalton - 1 Mr. Creepley - 1 0 votes: Mrs. Creepley, Junior Creepley, Dinky Dalton and Dirty Dalton We've got a ton of poll results to reveal this week! Starting off with the Yogi Yahooeys poll, Yogi pulled off the win very easily! Quick Draw McGraw also put up a fair fight for second place.
Who is your favorite member of the Yogi Yahooeys? Yogi Bear - 17 Quick Draw McGraw - 7 Huckleberry Hound - 4 Grape Ape - 4 Mr. Jinks - 3 Yakky Doodle - 2 Snooper - 2 Wally Gator - 2 Hokey Wolf - 2 Boo Boo - 1 Augie Doggie - 1 Doggie Daddy - 1 0 votes: Cindy Bear, Blabber, Pixie and Dixie Moving to the Guess Who poll next. When tallying the results, I accidentally typed "Big Bod McAllister" at first, which honestly sounds like a more amusing character than any of the options here lol. Who is your favorite recurring character from Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? Simone - 28 Big Bob McAllister - 5 Chad and Thad - 5 Unsurprisingly, Yabba-Doo won the Puppy Hour poll with ease. But how in the world did the mayor get more votes than Deputy Dusty? lol Who is your favorite recurring character from The Scooby & Scrappy-Doo Puppy Hour? Yabba-Doo - 35 Tumbleweed Mayor - 5 Deputy Dusty - 4 This is the twelfth day in a row I've posted! It's been quite a streak, but unless there's news, this will be the last daily post. Results for this poll will be revealed on Sunday. Also, as mentioned before, Scrappy doesn't count here, as he is a member of the gang.
Happy Easter to all who are celebrating today! I hope you have a wonderful day however and with whomever you're spending the holiday.
We've got three polls from last week to reveal the results from. We'll start with the Scooby Doobies poll. Scooby-Dum wins in a landslide! Who is your favorite member of the Scooby Doobies? Scooby-Dum - 21 Dynomutt - 5 Blue Falcon - 5 Hong Kong Phooey - 5 Captain Caveman - 3 Brenda Chance - 3 Speed Buggy - 2 Babu - 2 Dee Dee Skyes - 1 Tinker - 1 Taffy Dare - 0 Next, let's move to our other poll from this recurring characters series. Before this poll started, I was pretty certain Rose would be the one to advance. However, she's not our winner! Captain Cutler beats her by just a few votes. Who is your favorite recurring character in Be Cool, Scooby-Doo? Captain Cutler - 17 Rose - 13 Scotty McDoon - 8 Now it's time to reveal the poll everybody's been waiting to the answer for...let's see who came out ahead as the favorite person on Shaggy and the dogs lengthy list of personal slights in the Scrappy shorts. It was very close, but it looks like Moose finally gets absolved of his villain status lol. Who is your favorite person that Shaggy, Scooby and Scrappy angered during the Scrappy shorts? Moose - 4 Bulldog (Strongman Scooby) - 3 Director - 3 Ship Captain - 2 Doctor - 2 Bulldog (Scooby's Swiss Miss) - 2 Chef - 2 Bandit and Wilbur - 2 Buster and Bull - 2 Army General - 2 Taj Mahal Guard - 2 Baron Valoofnoggin - 2 Monrovia Monsters - 1 McGurk Brothers - 1 0 votes: Carnival Owner, Magician, Strongman, Motorcycle Gang, RB, Muscles Malone and Brutus |
