Nothing too much to share here, but I thought I'd let you all know that this week, I've finally completed a project I've been wanting to do for years now. Like the movie guide has, I decided to add trivia and observations to each episode in the episode guide this week. These include cultural references, animation glitches and other fun facts which you may not be aware of. I've also attached the storyboard art sheets when I could find them (which wasn't for very many episodes) for Where Are You and the New Scooby-Doo Movies.
I've added these for every series now, though please note that I am aware some episodes are missing the trivia. I haven't forgotten about them, rather, that just means those particular episodes didn't have anything noteworthy. However, this is definitely a list which I'll continually update, so if I notice anything new as I watch those episodes again, I'll be sure to add it! I also added these observations to the Scooby in Other TV Shows guide. Be sure to check all of these out, and who knows, you might even learn something! ;)
I realize I put this page up last Thursday, but I haven't had a chance to write a post for it until now. If you haven't checked it out already, be sure to read the site's new History of the Series page! The new page gives a detailed account of the airing and production history of the entire franchise, as well as some cool behind-the-scenes stuff from various series and films.
You can check out the new page here, and I hope you all enjoy it. Stay tuned for more new updates, hopefully coming soon! :)
Hi wonderful Scooby fans!
Admittedly, I've been wanting to make this post for a long time. I've gotten quite a few emails through the contact form asking why I haven't been very active on the site's social media accounts lately. I've responded to everyone who's asked, but I wanted to explain in case others have the same question. I also logged into my Facebook account for the first time in several years yesterday (I hadn't realized it had been that long!), and noticed a lot of people sent friend requests and messages (some dating as far back as 2016) that I didn't respond to as I didn't see them before last night.
First of all, I apologize for not responding to any of those. It certainly wasn't my intention to ignore anyone! I have now seen all your messages, though I didn't respond to some of them as many were outdated (a couple of them asked why the site was down back in 2016) or were just "can you plz follow me?" requests.
I also have been not very active on Twitter since last August. Initially, I just was planning to take a few week break due to a busy-real life and some personal issues I was going through. I logged on again after those couple of weeks, just lurking and not posting anything. As I logged on and read everyone's posts, unfortunately all the lovely political animosity and anger was very prevalent throughout people's posts, even in certain Scooby fans I previously enjoyed following. This isn't to throw shade at anyone or say that people don't have a right to voice their own opinions. I have my own political views and feel strongly about certain issues, but I would never dream of shoving my opinions in anyone's face. It's a shame, but it seems like getting along with someone on Twitter has become synonymous with unconditionally agreeing with every single thing they think or believe.
I won't go on, as you all are very likely aware of the political immaturity and volatility of social media, and how it seems to be getting worse and worse. However, it's made me lose interest in social media and it feels more frustrating than fun to post anything or interact with people. There are certainly a lot of good people on social media, but I'd rather avoid the negativity and intolerance for now. I'll just be honest and say Twitter scares me as a platform, as people have turned it from a fun place to chat and follow your interests into a political and social battleground.
I don't mean to imply that I'm not ever going to post or interact on social media ever again...but for right now, I'd like to keep myself sheltered from the unnecessary negativity, as quite frankly I think all of us can agree there are enough negative things in life already without people being at each other's throats over petty arguments. I'll still maybe lurk a bit, but I'll probably continue to be inactive for the most part, at least for now. I also didn't respond to any of the friend requests on Facebook, as most of them were several months or years old and I doubt you want to follow me when I'm not really posting anything. I'll most likely to respond to them when/if I return! :)
I hope you all can understand where I'm coming from and why I'm avoiding social media for the time being, and apologies for any inconvenience it may cause you all.
And if you read this far, sorry for the ranty post. I'm in a mood! :/
Just a quick little note for you all, I added a Voice Actors page to the site today. The page gives about a paragraph of info on every voice actor (and live-action actor), including their history in the Scooby franchise, as well as their acting career and personal life. I know I did this slightly out of order from what I said in this post, but I promise I am working on the History of the Franchise page and hope to have it up soon!
It was really fun finding info on the all the voice actors and where they are in their lives now! Be sure to check out the completed Voice Actors page, and I always love hearing any comments you guys have!
The comments issue has been fixed now, and you should all now be able to comment on posts once again. Thanks to Bernadette and the rest of the Weebly support team for being so helpful in taking care of the issue and making sure it was fixed quickly. If for some reason anyone still has an issue posting comments, please let me know! I've gone ahead and replied to all your comments that came through before the glitch happened as well. The "Daphne & Velma" review will be posted in just a minute, so be sure to check that out (as well as Monday's fun fact) below this post if you haven't already. Thanks everyone for being so incredibly patient!
I just wanted to let you all know that I am aware about the issue where you aren't able to post any comments. Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do about it, as it's apparently an issue on the Weebly domain's end. I have contacted them about it and they responded that it should be fixed within the next few days. I just finished writing my review for "Daphne & Velma," which I'll post once the comments are working again. Stay tuned for that in the next couple of days, and I'll keep giving you all updates if something else comes up. Sorry for the inconvience and thank you all for being so patient!
I've been thinking about making some more updates to the site now ever since the new year. Recently, I've also gotten a few emails from people asking when I will start adding new content to the site again, and even a couple which asked if I was "done" updating the site now I that all the essential information has been added. I'm hoping to begin adding some amazing new stuff to the site soon, and I'm definitely far from being out of ideas.
However, I wanted to get all of your feedback on which of the following ideas you'd like to see added to the site first. Whichever option wins simply means I will prioritize that first, and doesn't mean that the other options won't ever be added to the site. Here are the ideas I'm pondering adding, so let me know which option you want to see added to the site first!
The first question asks about which update you'd most like to see implemented on the site, while the second and third questions ask for miscellaneous suggestions, if you have any. If you do not want to answer questions 2 and/or 3, you can just leave those responses blank and your response will still submit. As a reminder, the system will only allow you to vote once, and will delete all duplicate responses from the same IP address.
Thanks so much for your input in advance, and I'm super excited to see what you guys suggest! The poll will close on March 16 at 1 p.m. (central) so if you have any input, make sure to respond to the poll before then! Please feel free to leave me any suggestions in the comments as well! :)
Though I'm sure no one noticed this, I wanted to let you all know that a few days ago, I made the decision to permanently shut down the site's forum, which has been essentially completely inactive (other than occasional log-ons from me) since May 2016. On Monday, I deleted all the forum's posts and made the forum no longer accessible by completely erasing it from the ProBoards database.
Admittedly, I've been contemplating deleting it for a while now as basically since late 2015, the only one regularly active on there was me, and towards spring of 2016 even I barely checked the forum. While the forum didn't succeed, I still remain very proud of this site and have no plans to shut this site down. Despite its poor traffic and only 16 members (including me) joined in its nearly 3 years of being online, I still am very glad I decided to experiment and try out creating my own forum.
Lastly, I'd like to take this time to thank the 15 members who joined the forum. In addition, I'd like to give a special thanks to both GroovyScooby and Scoob16 for offering to help out with the forum and becoming part of the forum staff, even if it was short-lived! You both made fantastic admins, and I am so thankful to both of you for being such a great help on the forum!
I realize that generally I reserve this blog for news, but I wanted to share that I've created a new page on the site. I've added a "List of Scooby-Doo Releases" page (which can be found under "Home Media Releases" on the side menu bar. On this page (or rather several pages) I've listed each individual DVD organized by the type of set. You can find pages for Season Sets, Volumes, and Movies. Under each set I've listed the cover art, release date, episodes included, format (ex: DVD vs. Blu-Ray), number of discs and any special features that the set may include. I hope this is a helpful tool that will make finding and classifying the DVDs you want easier, especially in the sense that WB often releases both volumes and season sets for the exact same series (A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, for example). The season sets are often less expensive in the long run, as they are generally about $20-30 while purchasing all the different volumes can run about $10 per volume. I created these pages in attempt to help Scooby fans research which DVDs have which episodes on them, as quite frankly it can be very challenging to know which DVDs are worth your money and which aren't.
However, you may notice I did not include any of the double feature sets on the Movies page. I considered including them, but I worried it might make things too cluttered and confusing for people if I added all the double feature DVDs WB has released over the years. That's why I wanted to ask you all (as you're the ones who are viewing the site!) if you thought the double feature sets should be included on the page, or if would only serve to make the page confusing.
If you have an opinion on this, please let me know in the poll below!
POLL UPDATE: Due to the very close amount of votes between "Yes" and "No," I just added the titles of each of the double features for now.
I also plan to eventually add a Compilation Sets page, though due to huge amount of compilation sets out there, it could take quite a while to complete. In the meantime, I hope these pages are useful and serve as a good research tool before you purchase any Scooby DVDs.
Happy February everyone! As promised, I've tallied up the results for the Weekly Blog Series Poll and will give a run-down of what they are in this post.
Overall, there were 21 different voters in the past week that the poll has been up. The results were:
Would you prefer a more content-based or interactive-based blog series?
Which of the following ideas for a new blog series is your favorite?
Weekly Articles/Reviews: 13
Question of the Week: 6
Fan Art Fridays: 1
Weekly Trivia Contest: 1
Would you prefer the fun facts to be posted on Fridays (Fun Fact Fridays), rather than Mondays?
So as you can see, the weekly articles won! As I mentioned, the weekly articles may not start *immediately*, but my goal is to start doing them relatively quickly. Unfortunately, my schedule as of currently is already incredibly busy, and I'd like to focus what little time I have for now on finishing work on a few pages, before starting something new (I'll explain more on this in a moment).
It was really fun to see the results this time! I thought it was particularly cool that all the results leaned toward one option, and none of the numbers were tied or close to one another. It was also really cool to see so many people wanting the Fun Facts to continue being posted every Monday! If any of the questions would have had numbers that were tied or very close, I thought it would for sure be that one. But it's an awesome feeling for me, knowing that you guys love our little tradition every Monday. I really enjoy writing those every week, so great to see that you enjoy them too!
Earlier on, I mentioned that the articles may take a while because I'm working on other pages currently. I'm happy to say the Character Page is almost finally done! I just need to take screencaps of each of the characters, and the page will be complete. It's turning out really good so far, and it's exciting for me to finally be finishing what one person called the "elusive character page" (which is quite possibly my new favorite term for it), which has been a working progress since March 2015. I also am already working on an addition to the new Internet Games page, which will specifically highlight the Crystal Cove Online game (which btw, is now available again).
While I can't guarantee an article every single week these next few weeks, I will say that there will be a special Valentine's Day article coming by the 14th! Thank you to everyone who voted and I'm excited to show you guys all I've been working on!
First of all let me apologize for the lack of posts and updates lately. As with many people I am currently incredibly busy and overwhelmed with the holidays approaching, as well as recently returning from a week-long Thanksgiving family reunion and having several birthday celebrations with friends and family last week. Admittedly I've even written several of the fun facts in advance (due to not having time to write them on Sunday nights/Monday mornings as I usually do) and using the site's autotimer feature to post the fun facts automatically. One of my new year's resolutions for 2017 is definitely to keep up a better presence on both the site and in the online Scooby fandom in general.
So my question to you guys is what would you like to see on the site next year? I have several ideas myself, but if you have an idea, please let me know in the comment section and I'd love to hear it!
Here are my ideas:
More articles - I know I write a lot of news articles, but I was thinking about writing more non-news articles, including reviews and other fun articles discussing about aspects of the series and asking more critical/opinion-based questions that are a bit more interactive and discussion-provoking.
Another weekly blog series - In addition to the fun facts, I was considering creating another weekly blog series of sorts which would include a weekly post. I'm not sure what it would be yet (as you can probably tell by my vague wording lol), but I'd love to hear your ideas if this is something you'd like to see in the comments.
Home media release page - This would be a huge amount of work, but it's something I think would be really cool. I was considering creating a page with information on each and every DVD, Blu-Ray and VHS release. It would probably take a while, but it would be an extension of sorts of the How to Have a Complete Scooby Collection Guide which I know has helped tons of people.
Fan art page - My fourth and final idea is to have people to submit fan art for a new Fan Art page on the site. However, for this one, I'd like to have at least a few people interested in submitting some fan art before I create the page. If you are interested in this idea in addition to voting for it, could you send me an email via the contact form?
If you have another idea in addition to the options in the poll or if you want to explain why you picked what you picked/why you like that option best, please let me know in the comments!
Also, be sure to look for a special holiday article coming next week, plus a 2016 year-in-review post!
Thank you so much for your input guys!
