A fifth 50th anniversary set will be released on June 4, 2019. The "4 Kid Favorites: Scooby-Doo! Summer Break" set will be a quadruple-feature film collection again, comprised of Monster of Mexico, Zombie Island, Aloha and Camp Scare. I wish they would have chosen better films, or even a better theme, as Zombie Island and Monster of Mexico do not fit this theme at all.
This 2-disc set can be pre-ordered now on Amazon.
Based on the live-action film released last year, a Daphne & Velma young adult novelization is being released March 3, 2020 according to Amazon.es. The novel will be written by Josephine Ruby, which most certainly a pen name based off Joe Ruby of Ruby & Spears Productions. It's also listed as "#1", so presumably, there is more coming at some point.
Here's the description:
It's the classic girl detectives like you've never seen them before! Daphne Blake and Velma Dinkley have a terrifying new mystery to solve -- and this time, the culprit is far more frightening than any man in a mask....
Popular Daphne Blake and über-nerd Velma Dinkley are not friends. They aren't enemies either, but they don't have any reason to speak to each other, and that's how they prefer it. The two girls grew up together-they'd been best friends since pre-K-but when they hit middle school, Daphne dropped Velma and never looked back.
These days, Daphne's deep in the popular crowd, daughter of the richest family in town, while Velma's an outsider, hiding from the world behind her thick glasses. When they run into each other in the halls of Crystal Cove High, they look the other way.
But then Daphne's best friend, Marcy-who happens to be Velma's cousin-goes missing. A century ago, there was a wave of disappearances in Crystal Cove, and many local people believe that supernatural forces were behind it. Now the whole town believes those same forces are back . . . and up to no good. Daphne and Velma may be the only ones who can solve the mystery and save Marcy-if they can trust each other enough to try. Especially since the truth might be stranger-and scarier than either girl can imagine . . .
The following is the back cover art for the two New Scooby-Doo Movies sets being released on June 4. Note that the special features on the (Almost) Complete Collection are the same ones as on the original Best of the New Scooby-Doo Movies set released previously. The Lost Episodes set has no special features, though does feature a different description on the back cover (the Almost Complete Collection has the same description as the original Best Of Set, except with Sonny & Cher and Jeannie added). Oddly, on the Lost Episodes back cover, "Mystery in Persia" and "The Haunted Showboat" are listed in the wrong order.
On June 4, a complete series What's New, Scooby-Doo? DVD set will be released in stores according to Barnes and Noble. This special 50th anniversary collector's series set includes all three seasons of WNSD together in a single set, though oddly, according to the back cover, the three holiday specials are not included in this set. There are also no special features. I was a bit disappointed to see the animation was just some goofy stock pose, instead of the actual What's New, Scooby-Doo? animation.
Here's the description:
THE COMPLETE WHAT'S NEW SCOOBY-DOO SERIES FULL OF MYSTERY AND FUN! Zoinks! The gang's all here, and the villains are too, but with a twist, in What' s New Scooby-Doo? This series takes everybody's favorite cowardly Great Dane, along with Fred, Daphne, Velma and Shaggy, and puts them smack-dab in the middle of more capers, cases and creepy crime scenes! These world-famous sleuthing teens are always up for action-packed, hair-raising adventures. Lovable canine Scooby and the always-hungry Shaggy take center stage, and the mysteries take us to international locations such as Moscow, Paris and Hong Kong. Whether they' re tracking an ice monster from the slopes of a snowboarding competition, investigating a zombie gladiator in the ancient city of Pompeii or uncovering a magician's ghost in glittery Las Vegas, the gang continues to face new villains and solve mysteries, all while retaining the sensibility and sense of humor that have made Scooby-Doo a favorite of children and adults throughout the world. These kids have a timeless cool that never goes out of style!
According to DeepDiscount.com, a new quintuple-feature film set will be released on June 4. This collection will feature Scooby-Doo! Moon Monster Madness, Scooby-Doo & KISS: Rock and Roll Mystery, Scooby-Doo & WWE: Curse of the Speed Demon, Scooby-Doo & Batman: The Brave and the Bold, and Scooby-Doo and the Gourmet Ghost.
I must admit I'm a bit surprised that they chose Moon Monster Madness over WrestleMania Mystery, as that would have gone with the theme they were going for, but nonetheless I'm glad to see all these releases for the 50th anniversary!
Almost 15 years after the original The Best of the New Scooby-Doo Movies DVD set was released, WB has finally acquired the rights to release eight of the nine episodes that were originally missing from the set due to copyright issues.
On June 4, 2019, The New Scooby-Doo Movies: The (Almost) Complete Collection will be released in stores, featuring all episodes of the series except "Wednesday is Missing" featuring the Addams Family, presumably due to continued contract negotiation issues.
Here's the episode listing, thanks to AnimationMagazine.net:
Additionally, another set entitled "The New Scooby-Doo Movies: The Lost Episodes," featuring only the eight missing episodes will be released on that same day.
Here's the episode listing for that set:
Last but not least, WB has also announced that they will release a Best of Warner Bros. 50 Cartoon Collection – Scooby-Doo DVD on July 30, 2019. Nothing else is known about the set at this time, except "a collection of the best episodes from every Scooby-Doo series especially compiled to mark the golden anniversary."
I am so excited that they are finally releasing these episodes to commemorate the 50th anniversary. I must admit, out of all the options, I never would have thought they would have done this. I hope the "50 Cartoon Collection" set will include a bunch of unreleased episodes as well!
A few weeks ago, it was announced that a triple feature DVD titled Scooby-Doo! Prehistoric Prey would be released. As of today, the official cover art has been released thanks to Amazon. Though it's not released yet, you can pre-order the DVD on Amazon before it comes out on March 19. Films include Scooby-Doo! Legend of the Phantosaur, Scooby-Doo and the Loch Ness Monster and Scooby-Doo! Mask of the Blue Falcon. Here's the cover art below:
Thanks to Target.com, we have some additional information on the Road Trip USA set announced Friday. Firstly, we now have the DVD front cover (as seen above), as the fact that Target's exclusive release date is February 5. It will not be released elsewhere until March 19, as seen by the date listed on the Amazon listing.
Here's the film listing:
Scooby-Doo Goes Hollywood: The gang goes to Hollywood as Scooby stars in his first film. When a creepy creature wants to put a stop to the film, Scooby must solve the mystery to ensure his star status remains intact.
Aloha Scooby-Doo!: Scooby-Doo and gang romp around the jungle, snorkel, paraglide, and surf as they battle the mysterious appearance of the "Wiki-Tiki" and try to solve the mystery before the volcano erupts.
Scooby-Doo! Stage Fright: The crew heads to Chicago for a talent show, some museum tours and whole lotta pizza!
Note that the description for Scooby-Doo Goes Hollywood is incorrect, as that's not what happens in the movie at all.
Thanks to Scoobylover for the info!
On March 19, two brand new triple feature DVD sets will be released. One is titled "Scooby-Doo! Road Trip USA" while the other is named "Scooby-Doo! Prehistoric Prey." No cover art has been provided for either set, and the Road Trip USA set does not have an episode listing currently. Here's the official description of the Prehistoric Prey set from Amazon, which includes the films Scooby-Doo! Legend of the Phantosaur, Scooby-Doo and the Loch Ness Monster, and Scooby-Doo! Mask of the Blue Falcon (the final of which seems to oddly have nothing to do with prehistoric creatures).
SCOOBY-DOO! MASK OF THE BLUE FALCON The Mega Mondo Pop Cartoon-a-Con in sunny California marks the spot for mystery in this all-new original Scooby-Doo adventure! Herculoids, Frankenstein Jr. and Space Ghost are just a few of the celebrated comic book characters headlining at the unconventional convention, plus there’s a megabucks movie premiere starring Scooby-Doo and Shaggy’s all-time favorite super heroes, Blue Falcon and Dynomutt! So when the gruesome villain Mr. Hyde unleashes monster bats, howling hounds and sinister slime upon the festivities, it’s time for Mystery Incorporated to follow the clues and set their monster traps. But it’s the pizza-snacking, super-powered tag team of Shaggy and Scooby-Doo who tap into their inner super hero to prevent the entire event from being smothered in ghoulish green goo! Like, right on, Dog Wonder!
SCOOBY-DOO! LEGEND OF THE PHANTOSAUR A relaxing spa getaway evolves into a prehistoric panic when Scooby-Doo and the gang uncover the horrible Phantosaur, an ancient legend come to life to protect hidden treasures buried in secret desert caves. But this scare-a-saurus doesn’t stand a chance with Shaggy (voiced by Matthew Lillard of the live-action Scooby-Doo theatrical movies) around, after he finds his inner hero with the help of new-age hypnosis. Like, it makes him more brave and less hungry! With colorful suspects, including a free-wheeling motorcycle gang, greedy corporate investors and over-zealous scientists, there’s more pieces to this mystery than slices in a pizza! Settle into your mudbath and let the Mystery, Inc. gang unearth a ton of fun for the whole family!
SCOOBY-DOO! AND THE LOCH NESS MONSTER Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, and the Mystery Inc. crew travel to Scotland on vacation and find themselves unexpectedly tackling their biggest monstrosity ever: the Loch Ness Monster! Does it really exist? Early evidence suggests a scary "yes" when something gigantic appears outside the window of Daphne's ancestral family castle. Will Scooby-Doo and crew solve one of history's longest-running mysteries? Keep your paws crossed as this Highland Fling treats you to hilarious Scooby-Doo shenanigans, nail-biting chases and monstrous thrills!
It appears WB is really going all out to promote this movie! Three more exclusive clips have been released in the past few days for Scooby-Doo and the Curse of the 13th Ghost. One clip also reveals the 13th ghost's name to be Asmodeus.
Here are the links to the newly released clips:
