The 2021 TV special Scooby-Doo, Where Are You Now! redubs all of the audio in the flashbacks shown of past episodes. This includes all sound effects and characters' voices. However, oddly, the flashbacks featuring Shaggy and Daphne still use archived audio of their original voices.
It is possible that Casey Kasem's estate and Indira Stefanianna Christopherson cleared the use of their voices, whereas the other voice actors did not or couldn't be reached in time. It's also worth noting that there is a reference to American Top 40, which would seem to back up this theory that Kasem's estate gave the greenlight.

This is the final round of our unreleased episode poll series! "Wednesday Is Missing" automatically advanced to this round due to being the only episode of its series that wasn't released. I've had so much fun doing this poll series over the past five weeks to celebrate Scooby's anniversary. I can't wait to see which episode wins!
We had a great variety of votes in the Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! poll from last Sunday! Nearly every episode got at least one vote, with the exception of five. There was a clear winner from the beginning, and it was the fan favorite I suspected would get its flowers again here. Here are the full results: What is your favorite episode of Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! that hasn't been released on physical media? Doo Not Disturb - 15 Some Fred Time - 4 Mysteries on the Disorient Express - 3 In Space - 3 Night of the Upsetting Shorts - 3 Pizza O'Possum's - 3 There Wolf - 2 How to Train Your Coward - 2 The Curse of Kaniaku - 2 Ghost in the Mystery Machine - 2 Naughty or Ice - 2 Scroogey Doo - 2 Renn Scare - 1 Worst in Show - 1 Silver Scream - 1 Fright of Hand - 1 American Goth - 1 Omelettes Are Forever - 1 Protein Titans 2 - 1 World of Witchcraft - 1 Professor Huh? Part 6 ¾ - 1 0 votes: Vote Velma, Greece Is the Word, Junkyard Dogs, The Curse of Half-Beard's Booty, Professor Huh? Part 1 As was evident from the comments, the amount of votes for the Velma poll was expectedly lean. However, we did get more than you might think, and had a clear winner to advance to this round! What is your favorite episode of Velma? This Halloween Needs to Be More Special! - 7 'Til Death - 3 The Mystery of Teen Romance - 2 Seancé - 2 Velma - 1 Velma Kai - 1 Fog Fest - 1 Family (Wo)man - 1 The Brains of the Operation - 1 When Velma Met Money - 1 Private Velmjamin - 1 The Real Villain - 1 0 votes: The Candy Man, Marching Band Sleepover, The Sins of the Mothers and Some of the Fathers, A Velma in the Woods, Creaky Friday, Burning Woman, Female Utopia, Aman Hunt It's that time of year again, where the leaves begin changing color, Halloween looms closer, and the annual Scoobtober celebration brings a lot of Scooby content to fans all around the world.
In addition to the usual Scooby marathon on Cartoon Network, with weekday Scooby-Doo blocks in the morning, Boomerang in North American countries will also be having weekend-long marathons of Scooby, and large Scooby programming blocks of Scooby on weekday mornings. MeTV will be featuring a Scooby-Doo film every Sunday at 2pm CST throughout the month of October. For the first three weeks of October, the Superstars 10 films (Boo Brothers, Ghoul School and Reluctant Werewolf) will be airing. Like last year, MeTV horror host Svengoolie will be commentating a Scooby-Doo film on October 26. HBO Max will also supposedly be featuring Scooby content according to the press release. However, it's unclear what that content actually is, considering they've removed all but Scoob! and Trick or Treat from the service. It's unclear whether they will be adding more content or not. It mentions that this will be a global event, so it may mean HBO Max in other countries will be doing this, rather than the US. The Fanflix streaming service will also be offering a special deal where fans can select three Scooby films for $13, available now through November 3. It was also hinted that Scooby-Doo will be crossing over with a global game. There have been rumors of a Fortnite collab, but nothing's been confirmed yet. In addition to the Lo-Fi album from a couple weeks ago, which is packaged as a part of Scoobtober, a bonus track has been released! "Hex Girl" has gotten a second remix from another Lo-Fi artist, Goodnyght. The album bonus track is now available to stream on Spotify. There will also be an assortment of fashion accessories, toys, home products, apparel, food company collabs, and a virtual challenge. Here's the full list from the official press release on Animation Magazine: Fashion and Accessories: New Scooby-inspired apparel and gear from Loungefly, The RSVLTS, Knockaround and Wolf Pack, Harvey’s, George Hats, Bellabu Bear, Bums & Roses, Overlord Caps and Miss Frandy. Celebrate Scoobtober in style with new collections at fan-favorite retailers, including FYE with Scooby-Doo-inspired apparel and home goods products, and Walmart with sleepwear and apparel. Toys & Collectibles: Fans can unbox Scooby fun with OP Games’ new tabletop games, collectibles from Funko and Jada Toys, crafts from Woobles and plush from Jazwares. Food & Beverage: Additionally, Scooby fans can fuel their marathons with spooky snacks and themed collaborations from Kellogg’s, General Mills and Golden West Food Group. Promotions: Ruh-roh! Get ready to sprint, stroll or pedal into the haunting episode of “Which Witch Is Which?” with the Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc. gang through The Conqueror virtual challenge. This challenge lets you experience the classic Scooby-Doo mystery as you reach your fitness goals. Go solo or team up with family & friends for an unforgettable adventure. Thanks so much to Spooky Space Ghost for sharing the press release! For those who haven't heard, there have been talks of a potential Paramount/WB-Discovery merger. Despite the deal not being closed yet, Paramount+ has announced they'll be adding six Scooby-Doo movies to streaming. Alien Invaders, Legend of the Vampire, Loch Ness Monster, Where's My Mummy?, Chill Out, and Curse of the Lake Monster will all be available to stream on Paramount+ beginning October 1. This news comes from a NickALive post sharing the content coming to Paramount+ in October. Thanks to Becker for the heads up about this!
Bath and body company Lush is releasing a new Scooby-Doo themed collection of bath products. The new collection releases September 29 on the Lush app, and October 2 on Lush's shops and online store. The announcement is specifically for Lush in the UK; however, there are Lush stores in the US and other countries, so this collection may be available there as well. Amongst the collection is Mystery Machine and Scooby-Doo bath bombs, Zoinks shower jelly, Mystery Inc. shower gel, "my glasses!" eye mask, Scooby Snacks body spray, as well as a Mystery Machine bath box (which presumably provides samplers of some of the above listed products). I'm expecting this poll to get very few votes, but if you've been waiting for a Velma series poll, here it is! lol No episodes of Velma have gotten a DVD release, so this poll is just the full Velma series. Surprisingly, I actually do have an episode I'll vote for here, but I'm guessing I will be one of extremely few to determine the winner.
This is the last series poll we'll be doing before the final round, where all of the winning options from the past month face off against each other. "Wednesday Is Missing" will also automatically advance, since every other episode in that series has already been released. Unlike the other "bonus" polls, voting for this one will close on Sunday morning, so that the final round can be posted then. After today, polls will go back to only being posted on Sundays. It's time to check in on the final results of our Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue poll! I was expecting "Super Scary Movie Night" to win, but it looks like another episode came out just ahead at the last minute. What is your favorite episode of Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue that hasn't been released on physical media? Uncle Albert Alert - 10 Super Scary Movie Night - 8 Shaggy and Scooby World - 7 Pole to Pole - 4 There's a Doctor in the House - 2 Inside Job - 1 Zoinksman - 1 Runaway Robi - 1 Scooby Dudes - 1 Zoinks the Wonder Dog - 1 Big Trouble - 0 Almost Purr-fect - 0 Don't Get a Big Head - 0 It's official! As hinted last Friday, Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island will be getting a stand-alone limited edition Blu-Ray release. Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island: Terror Time Collector's Edition will come out on Blu-Ray on October 28. The set will have a few special features, including an audio commentary by filmmaker and Scooby-Doo historian Matt Dugan, and a 12-page collectible booklet featuring an essay also by Matt Dugan.
Notably, the Blu-Ray is being released by AV Entertainment under license from Warner Brothers, rather than directly from WB themselves. A press release reveals that an official website has been created for this release, scoobydooonzombieisland.com. The website features a forum that appears to be run by Matt Dugan, who is presumably connected to AV Entertainment in some way. Fans who order the movie on MovieZyng can get $4 off the Blu-Ray by entering promo code "Scooby25" at checkout. Here is the official press release from WB, listed on MovieZyng: Get ready for far-out fun in Scooby-Doo's feature-length animated movie SCOOBY-DOO ON ZOMBIE ISLAND. Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, Velma, Daphne and Fred reunite to solve the most frightfully funny mystery of their careers. The scream team's headed to a haunted bayou island to investigate the ghost of Moonscar the Pirate. But it turns out the swashbuckler's spirit isn't the only creepy character on the island. The sleuths also meet up with cat creatures and zombies...and it looks like for the first time in their lives these ghouls might actually be real. Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island - dishing up equal portions of music, laughs, thrills and chills - became one of the most popular of Scooby's full-length adventures. The Terror Time Limited Collectors Edition features a host of bonuses in the packaging and on-screen experience including:
The series finale of Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue! was written in a single weekend. In a 2021 interview with the 2nd Dimension YouTube channel, Ray DeLaurentis shared he wrote the episode under extreme pressure. Warner Brothers was facing financial issues at the time. The building with Ray's office had been sold to DeVry University as the series was concluding. Ray had only Friday, Saturday and Sunday to write "Uncle Albert Alert," and wrote for 11-12 hours straight each day to accomplish this, all while construction was starting. In the interview, Ray recalls hearing the sound of jackhammers outside of his office as he wrote the final episode.
This is basically just a Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! season 2 poll minus "Halloween," which received a release on the Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo! DVD in 2020.
We have two poll results to reveal from last weekend! Starting with the specials poll, there was actually some fair competition. I was happy to see Scooby-Doo, Where Are You Now! get quite a few more votes than I was expecting. Despite all options having a fighting chance, one special was in the lead from the start. "The Scooby-Doo Project" pulls off the win, and advances to the final round. What is your favorite Scooby-Doo special unreleased on physical media? The Scooby-Doo Project - 23 Night of the Living Doo - 11 Scooby-Doo, Where Are You Now! - 11 Behind the Scenes: Those Finger Pointing Villains - 8 It's been really fun having polls focused around episodes that are never talked about! It's made the results a lot more interesting, since it's often much more unclear which episodes are going to get a lot of votes. Almost all of the unreleased The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries episodes got a fair amount of love in last Sunday's poll, but the only unreleased two-part episode in this series was our winner! "Sherlock Doo" advances to the final round next Sunday to represent The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries. What is your favorite episode of The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries unreleased on physical media? Sherlock Doo - 13 Scooby's Peep-Hole Pandemonium - 8 The Night of the Living Toys - 8 Showboat Scooby - 6 The Dooby Dooby Doo Ado - 5 Mission Un-Doo-Able - 3 A Scary Duel with a Cartoon Ghoul - 2 South Pole Vault - 0 E*I*E*I*O - 0 Fans who weren't happy with the Zombie Island/Return to Zombie Island double feature Blu-Ray may be in luck! A listing for a "Terror Time Collector's Edition" Zombie Island Blu-Ray has popped up on a couple reliable sites, including Blu-Ray.com and MovieZyng. The Blu-Ray disc appears to be a standalone Zombie Island Blu-Ray release. Details about the release date and special features are not listed on the sites. An insider on the Blu-Ray.com forums posted an image of the cover, which can be seen above.
Please note that there has been no official announcement yet, but Blu-Ray.com is usually reliable. Don't take this post as meaning this is 100% confirmed, but I will share any updates on this as soon as I hear anything. Thanks so much to Bee for sharing this news! Update 9/20: A Canadian DVD site, Unobstructed View, lists the release date as October 28. I don't have a sense of the reliability of this source, but if this is true, it could mean other countries will get this around the same time! |
