Missing Scenes from The Haunted Horseman of Hagglethorn Hall Found

You may remember that several episodes of The New Scooby-Doo Movies had short 1-2 minute scenes of missing footage, which were cut off from the master tapes during syndication. In 2020, two missing scenes from "The Dynamic Scooby-Doo Affair" were found. In 2024, "The Secret of Shark Island" had its lost scene uncovered.

This morning, two missing scenes from "The Haunted Horseman of Hagglethorn Hall" were recovered! The footage was recovered as a part of a new fan-led initiative. A group of fans on Reddit have created a project to find all of the missing scenes from The New Scooby-Doo Movies. They are searching old television recordings of the episodes between 1972-1992 to look for the missing segments. This YouTube video explains more about the initiative, as well as this Reddit thread.

Checking in on my missing scene prediction post, I was spot-on about the scene showing us Fred, Shaggy and Scooby investigating the secret passage. There is also an additional missing scene right afterwards featuring Creech and Segwick walking through the halls of Hagglethorn Hall one last time.

The three Superstars 10 films are known as being amongst the only Scooby-Doo films not to be direct-to-video movies. However, each of these films still received VHS releases within a year of airing. An ad for Boo Brothers was run in a West Beach, Florida newspaper on September 23, 1988. VHS and Betamax tapes for the film were released on September 29. Ghoul School and Reluctant Werewolf were also each released to VHS in 1989 (although the exact release date for those is unknown).

We're circling back for our last poll before the final round for this recurring characters poll series! This week's poll will determine who gets the remaining spot in next week's final round. There are a number of guest stars from The New Scooby-Doo Movies and Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? who appear more than once. I included Mark Hamill in this group, because he voices Corey in "Mystery in Persia" before appearing as himself as "The Sword, The Fox, and the Scooby-Doo!".

Last week marked the end of our four weeks of Laff a Lympics polls. Checking back in on our announcers poll from last week, Snagglepuss wins the round with ease! He advances to the final round next week.

Who is your favorite Laff-a-Lympics announcer?
Snagglepuss - 20
Mildew - 10
Voiceover Guy - 5
Fred Flintstone - 5

This morning, Netflix shared a few exciting news tidbits about the upcoming live-action series! Netflix posted on Instagram that the series will be titled Scooby-Doo: Origins. This title had already been rumored by Production List for the past couple months, but it is now confirmed to be the series' official title.

Netflix also confirmed this morning that production has officially started on the series! Variety shared that filming is happening in Atlanta, and that the series will be a "modern reimagining" of the Scooby-Doo franchise. The Variety article also officially confirms Paul Walter Hauser's role as Scooby-Doo's owner.

Alongside this announcement, the first promotional image for the series has been posted. This image reveals that Mckenna has dyed her hair red for her role. Mckenna posted a TikTok with the hair reveal, featuring one of Sarah Michelle Gellar's lines as Daphne from the first Scooby-Doo live-action film. Check out the promotional image above!

Paramount's Takeover of WB-Discovery Approved by Shareholders

Since it's not fully Scooby-related, I've been trying to limit the amount of posts on the WB-Paramount merger to only major updates. We had another major happening today, and have also gotten a roadmap as to the next step of the merger.

Today, WB-Discovery shareholders voted on whether to approve the merger with Paramount. This is a crucial step in the merger being able to officially pass. The shareholders overwhelmingly voted to approve the merger, according to Sky News. The deal was valued at 110 billion dollars.

Sky News reported that the last step to make the merger official will happen between July and September 2026. The merger still awaits regulatory approval by the Department of Justice before it can be finalized.

If passed, the WB-Discovery and Paramount merger will the potential to reshape the film industry. Because they are two of the biggest media companies out there, it has the power to significantly reduce jobs and will reduce the number of films and TV shows released. It will also mean that the power of American media will lie in just the hands of a few companies. Because of this, the merger has faced backlash from over 4,000 Hollywood actors, who signed an open letter opposing the merger.

The news also broke yesterday that former WB-Discovery CEO, David Zaslav, has officially left the company. Zaslav left a polarizing four-year legacy, and in terms of Scooby, was specifically responsible for the Mystery Pups series, Scoob! Holiday Haunt, and Haunted High Rise (as well as potentially other projects that were never announced) being written off for taxes. Variety reports he left the company with a $550 million dollar payout from the merger. The article highlights that Zaslav privately expressed to many employees that he would have preferred to stay at the company, but felt pressured into accept the merger.

Thanks to Michael Kenchington, Zoinksdude and Existingperson for sharing the news from various parts of this post!

The cast of the upcoming Netflix live-action series shared several new group photos. These will be the first group photos we've seen of them together, beyond the pic of them out at dinner on casting announcement night. The photos show that Maxwell Jenkins has dyed his hair blond for the role. Mckenna's hair isn't showing in the photo, which may imply she will dye her hair red. Check out the gallery below to see the other three new cast photos. Thanks to Becker and Scooby Snacks for the info that these photos were posted on Reddit.

Yesterday, Mindy Cohn (Velma's voice actress from 2002-2015) took to Instagram to share some sad news. Cohn revealed that she has been battling cancer for the second time. She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012, but successfully overcame it in 2017 after a five year battle. She is currently undergoing treatment at Providence Saint John's Medical Center. She did not share any further details, but expressed gratitude for her family and surgeon's support during this difficult time.

Thanks Mr. Neither for the info.

In the final two episodes of Laff-A-Lympics, Mumbly is inexplicably referred to as "Muttley" throughout the entire episode. This is despite that they had renamed him Mumbly for this series, because contractual issues prevented them from using his original name.

Now that we've done all three Laff-A-Lympics team, it's time to move on to the announcers! We're including both the main commentators, the voiceover announcer (Don Messick), and the three guest commentators. It would be so silly if the final round ended with Fred Flintstone or Barney Rubble as the best Scooby-Doo recurring character, but hey, they technically count lol!

Checking in on last week's results, Mumbly advances to the final round in two weeks!

Who is your favorite member of the Really Rottens?
