The Axl Rose episode of Guess Who came about through another famous cartoon franchise. According to an interview with the Appetite for Distortion podcast, Mike Ryan reached out to the Looney Tunes writers after Axl had done a guest spot on one of their show's episodes. After the Looney Tunes writers got in touch with Axl, he agreed to book a guest spot in a Guess Who episode, and the rest is history!

Update 2/24: Scrappy will be voiced by series creator C.H. Greenblatt. Thanks to Hippyboy86 for this info, which comes from the episode being uploaded to Max early in his country.
Last week, it was announced that Scrappy-Doo would be featuring in an episode of Jellystone! Max has now made the official announcement that the rest of season 3 will be available to stream on March 6, including the Scrappy-Doo episode. According to NowTV, the episode Scrappy will be featured in is titled "Jelly Robo Battle Royale," which is episode 27. The promo image also reveals Frankenstein Jr. will be in the episode, in addition to Gobby Gruesome and Rocky Ratrock (who were both previously announced). Fans of Hanna-Barbera will also be happy to know that Fred and Barney from The Flintstones will also be appearing in another of the new episodes. The episode, "Better Off Fred," features Captain Caveman meeting up with his prehistoric friends Fred and Barney. Now that we've done all the country polls for Asia, it's time to do the final round for this continent! One option, "Siam and the Moon," automatically advanced to this round due to no other episodes taking place in Thailand.
Obviously Chill Out won last week's poll given it's here, but here are the full results for the Himalayas poll last week: What is your favorite Scooby-Doo episode in the Himalayas? Chill Out, Scooby-Doo! - 42 To All the Ghouls I've Loved Before - 13 Scooby-Doo! Curse of the 13th Ghost - 6 Spain and the Himalayas - 3 A brand new Scooby-Doo exhibit is open at the Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York, according to local New York news station 13WHAM. The exhibits leads visitors on an adventure throughout the museum, allowing them to build traps to solve the mystery of the Snow Ghost. The exhibit has visitors perform various tasks to help the gang solve the mystery through digital technology, including helping Velma find clues and helping Shaggy build a "Super Shaggy Sandwich." This interactive exhibit was opened in partnership with Warner Brothers. The exhibit will be open through May 4 according to FoxRochester.
In the original PG-13 script for the 2002 Scooby-Doo live action movie, Jim Carrey was originally chosen to play Shaggy. According to Collider, Mike Myers was also considered for the role of Shaggy. A number of different actresses were also considered to play Daphne, including Jennifer Aniston, Isla Fisher and Jennifer Love Hewitt. Christina Ricci was originally chosen to play Velma, according to the Stax Report.
Although it's not a country, there were several episodes and films that took place in the Himalayas, and I wanted to include that in this poll series as well. Also, this is our last week of the Asia polls! Next week, we'll be moving on to the final round with the options that have won over these past four weeks.
I chose not to include "Scoobra Kadoobra" and "Me and My Shadow Demon," as it was just a few brief cutaways to Vincent Van Ghoul in his temple in the Himalayas, and not the main setting of the episode. Here are the results for last week's poll: What is your favorite Scooby episode in China? Scooby's Chinese Fortune Kooky Caper - 29 Block Long Hong Kong Terror - 21 Florida and China - 4 Rickshaw Scooby - 2 Update 2/14: Someone who has seen the episode commented on the AnimeSuperhero forum that Scrappy is one of the New Bedrock kids, who attempts to cheat at the annual Robo Battle Royale competition. Another newly available screenshot (see bottom of post) shows Scrappy dressing up as a robot in attempt to rig the competition. Thanks to Hippyboy86 for finding that info!
As a big fan of Jellystone!, I was so excited to see that it's coming back soon. No official date has been announced yet for the US, but the episodes are currently airing on Cartoon Network UK. Today, it was shared by Hanna-Barbera Screencaps on X that Scrappy-Doo will be making a cameo in season 3! No other information has been shared about Scrappy's guest appearance yet, but apparently, Gobby Gruesome from The Flintstones will also be appearing in the same episode, as well as Rocky Ratrock from The Flintstone Kids. Weirdly Gruesome had appeared in a season 2 episode, "Uh Oh! It's a Burglar!" Weirdly appearing for the first time in four decades just to make funny-bad puns about spooky stuff was absolutely epic imo lol, so if the Gruesomes are appearing again, I'm hoping this appearance will be just as amazing haha. Stay tuned for more info! Thanks to Juan for sharing the link to this with me! Veteran animator Jerry Eisenberg sadly passed away on Tuesday, according to Mark Evanier's blog. His cause of death was pneumonia, but he'd been sick for quite a while before that. Jerry worked on some of the original Scooby-Doo storyboards for the early concept of the series, before it was even named Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?. Jerry was 87 years old, and created and designed some of the iconic Hanna-Barbera characters that are still well known today. These include Peter Potamus, the Hair Bear Bunch, most of the Jabberjaw gang, and Fangface. Jerry went into the field of animation following after his father, who also worked in animation and comic books for much of his life. RIP to Jerry!
Daphne & Velma is the only live-action film not scored by composer David Newman. David composed the score for both of the original Gunn films, and later returned to score the Mystery Begins films in 2009 and 2010.
We have some very interesting results for last week's poll! Samurai Sword and the WNSD were pretty close, but Samurai Sword came out just ahead at the end. I'm also surprised to see the Laff a Lympics episode got more votes than the Be Cool episode! Here are the full results:
What is your favorite Scooby episode in Japan? Samurai Sword - 19 Big Appetite in Little Tokyo - 12 The Demon of the Dugout - 6 Swiss Alps and Tokyo - 4 The Sword, The Fox, and the Scooby-Doo! - 4 The Curse of Kaniaku - 3 |
