After two and a half years of no news, we finally have an update on the Mystery Incorporated fan series from 2022. Unfortunately, it is not a pleasant one. The cast took to their official Instagram account today to announce that the series is cancelled. They went on to share that Warner Brothers attorneys required them to halt production on the series. In their Instagram message, they shared that they had plans to incorporate other Hanna-Barbera series into the show had the series been allowed to continue.
For those who donated to the Indiegogo campaign for the episode, the cast and crew announced they would be giving refunds to anyone who donated over $20. Refunds can be obtained by contacting them via email (with proof of donation). For those who donated under $20 or don't wish to obtain a refund, the post shared that the money will be going to use in future projects that the cast and crew pursue. I'm really sad to hear that WB required them to cancel the series. Between Velma and the lack of Scooby content lately, I can honestly say their episode was my favorite piece of Scooby content from these past few years. While they did say the series was cancelled, they expressed that they still had hope that maybe someday WB would elect to pick up the series so they could continue making it. While it's probably pretty doubtful, I would love to see that happen. Here is the cast's official statement: "Hey gang! We just wanted to give everyone a much needed update on the status of episode 2 and our series. We know this is a long time coming but unfortunately there have been things at play preventing us from releasing any sort of statement on the matter until now. After starting production on the episode and working on ways to make this series even bigger and better, we were unfortunately told by Warner Brothers attorneys that we are not to move forward with our second episode. We've been working to find ways to collaborate with them to continue but unfortunately our hands are tied and there is nothing we can do. We had such a wonderful universe planned for all of you with interconnecting stories with other Hanna-Barbera properties that you know and love, but for now they'll have to stay in our pitch decks until the day we can hopefully work alongside WB to bring this vision we love so much and that all of have shown immense support for to life. Until then we just want to say from the bottom of our hearts thank you so much for believing in us, thank you for supporting the mystery and thank you for continuing to share, watch and support the pilot even to this day. We love all of you so much! Now, I'm sure all of you are asking, what about the crowdfunding campaign? We will be offering tiered refunds for the next 2 months (end of March 2024) for anyone who donated $20 or more and wishes to ask for one. You can request your tiered refund by emailing us at mysteryincorporatedseries @gmail.com and stating it is for the tiered refund. Please provide donating name and proof of donation in your email. We wish we could offer full refunds but unfortunately Indiegogo has already taken their cut and as stated before we had already started production on the episode. If you do not wish to ask for a tiered refund, any money left in the account will go towards future project sin development to help us continue making high quality entertainment for you all. Thank you again for all of your love and support, this project has been a dream come true for us and we're so thankful you all came along on this journey, we hope you'll stay along for whatever comes next."

MultiVersus has just announced several updates about the game on their Instagram page, including an announcement about the game going offline. This coming Tuesday, February 4 at 9:00am PST, a new update will be made to the game, dubbed "season 5." The game's FAQ page lists that Lola Bunny and Aquaman will now be playable characters. In addition, there will be a new 70-tier battle pass, as well as new challenges and events within the game. Aquaman can be unlocked via the Battle Pass, whereas Lola Bunny will be instantly available to players when the update is released. In addition, beginning today, real money can no longer be used to purchase content within MultiVersus.
The other big announcement is a much more disappointing one. On May 30 at 9:00am PST, MultiVersus will be permanently taken offline. The game will no longer be available to purchase on any store. Anyone who has already downloaded the game will be still be able to play the game online in local gameplay mode, but there will no longer be any support or updates for the game. The FAQ page highlights that those who want to play the game online need to download the latest version of the game sometime between February 4 and May 30. Those wanting to play the game offline on more than one platform will have to do that process for each platform. Joel Parod, an animation artist and illustrator who worked on Scoob! Holiday Haunt, has shared a few images from the cancelled film on his website. One of the paintings, styled as an old Western painting, shows that the Miner 49er would have made a cameo in the movie. The painting also features caricatures of director Tony Cervone, and animation directors Michael Kurinsky and Bill Haller. Thanks to Jinkies for finding this link!
In addition, when doing a little research, I found a tweet from Bill Haller stating that Scooby-Doo! Holiday Haunt was planned for release the week after Thanksgiving in 2022 (November 27-December 3). To my knowledge, we never previously knew what the release date would have been. Now that we've finished with Africa, we'll be moving on to start the Asia section of this poll! This part of the series will be five weeks in total. Here are our final results for the Africa continent poll:
What is your Scooby favorite episode in Africa? Where's My Mummy? - 24 Safari, So Goodi! - 16 Scooby of the Jungle - 5 Reflections in a Ghoulish Eye - 3 Sahara Desert and Scotland - 2 The Lost Mines of Kilimanjaro! - 2 Africa and San Francisco - 1 Morocco and Washington D.C. - 0 A Bungle in the Jungle - 0 DC's comic solicitations for April 2025 were released today by GamesRadar+. The sole comic announced is a trade paperback for Batman and Scooby-Doo Mysteries. This is odd, because a Where Are You comic should have been announced today. It's a bimonthly series, and the last comic was released in February, so it's unclear if the series was put on hiatus or possibly even cancelled. Another possibility is that they switched the monthly cycle, and the series will now be released in odd months (May, July, September, etc.) rather than even months. I'll keep an eye out and share on here if I see anything.
Even more strangely, the one Scooby comic that was announced today had a June release date, despite it being in the April comic announcements. The solicitation doesn't say specifically what comics will be included in the trade paperback, but given they all include six comics, it can be presumed that this volume includes #7-12 of the third series. Here's the description: THE BATMAN AND SCOOBY-DOO MYSTERIES VOLUME 6 Written by J. TORRES, SHOLLY FISCH, AMANDA DEIBERT, IVAN COHEN, and more Art by DARIO BRIZUELA, PUSTE, and ERICH OWEN Cover by DARIO BRIZUELA $12.99 US | 128 pages | 6 5/8" x 10 3/16" | Softcover | ISBN: 978-1-79950-171-8 ON SALE 6/10/25 Because working together is a great way to handle things! Scarecrow tries to scare his way into Gotham’s hearts, but Shaggy and Scooby just can’t get any more afraid. A giant problem at the Finger Memorial Museum requires everyone’s bravery and smarts to conquer, and a convention appearance prevents the Bat-Family from appearing at the Wayne Foundation’s Heroes Gala, so Mystery Inc. fills in! Villains take over local garages, the library, and the opera house…but teaming up saves the day every time. An alternate version of Night of 100 Frights was in development for PlayStation 1, but was ultimately never released. Despite this, there have been a number of details released about the game and a build was leaked in 2021. According to TCRF.net, the game is unbeatable due to the final level never being fully completed.
The PS1 game was vastly different than the Night of 100 Frights version that was released. Other than level 2 in the Mystic Manor, the other four levels of the game were in different locations, including The Old Mining Town, Wolf's End Lodge, Frightland Amusement Park, and Main Street/The Secret Lab. There were 57 cutscenes made for the game. All of them were uncovered by The Scooby-Doo Community Archive YouTube channel. You can watch the cutscenes via the playlist they made on YouTube. Most notably, the game had a huge roster of villains that were never seen in the released version. This includes almost all Where Are You villains, as well as villains from The New Scooby-Doo Movies, The Scooby-Doo Show, The Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show, The Richie Rich / Scooby-Doo Hour, The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries, and the aliens from Alien Invaders. There are also a few obscure characters and animals that appear that were not villains. Pictures of all these villains can be seen at the following ScoobyAddicts thread, which has a Google Doc that features images of all of these villains. Full credit for this Google Doc and all of these images goes to Chauliodus, who created the thread. Note that there are a few on the Google Doc where the image is so blurry that it can't be identified, and also a couple listed on the Google Doc that I think may have been a different villain than was listed. Aliens (Alien Invaders) I had fun writing up this more in-depth fun fact! Thanks so much to Juan for suggesting I do a deep dive on this! This is the second and final part of the Africa section of this poll series. It's sort of an odd set because eight of these options automatically advanced, due to Egypt being the only country in Africa where more than two episodes took place. There were also a few episodes ("Africa and San Francisco," "A Bungle in the Jungle," and "Scooby of the Jungle") that are generically said to take place in Africa without specifying a country. Countries represented here include Morocco, Malawi, Egypt and Tanzania. Note that Morocco did have two episodes, but I thought it would make for a more interesting poll to just advance it to the final round, rather than have it be up against a Laff-a-Lympics episode where it would almost certainly win.
Here are the results for last week's poll: What is your favorite episode or film in Egypt? Where's My Mummy? - 28 Mummy Scares Best - 22 Egypt and Sherwood Forest - 5 Mummy's the Word - 3 Chris Villain, who plays Shaggy in the Mystery Incorporated 2022 fan series, is also a YouTuber, vlogger and singer. As of writing this, he has over 200,000 subscribers on YouTube.
We are back at it with the globetrotting poll series! This week, we'll be starting part one of our two-part Africa section of this poll series. I made a slight structure change to this poll series, that being that any countries that the gang only visited once or twice will be included in the Winner's Circle poll for the continent, rather than dedicating a separate poll to them as I'd originally said. The reason I made this change is that it seems like most of the countries with one episode are mainly comprised of Laff-a-Lympics episodes or Scrappy shorts, which doesn't make for a very interesting poll since I know most people tend to gravitate away from those options. Looking ahead at next week's set, I'm also guessing that one of the options in today's poll will win the overall Africa continent.
Here are the results for last week's poll: What is your favorite Scooby episode that depicts the future? High Tech House of Horrors - 18 Creepy Cruise - 11 It's a Wonderful Scoob - 6 The Man in the Mirror - 4 A Run Cycle Through Time! - 4 Me, Myself and A.I. - 3 Daphne & Velma - 2 Scooby-Doo 2000 - 1 Fun Fact #178 detailed how Abbott and Costello Meets Frankenstein served as inspiration for the Scooby formula for CBS executive Fred Silverman. Another Abbott and Costello film from 1941, Hold That Ghost, also bears a striking similarity to what would become the Scooby-Doo formula. The plot features five friends stuck together in a haunted house on a stormy night, where a murder mystery has occurred.
Besides the spooky noises and hidden passages, the characters in the film also mirrored the Scooby-Doo formula. Abbott and Costello were a Shaggy and Scooby-like duo that was scared of everything. Joan Davis served as the brains of the group (Velma), Evelyn Ankers took on a more damsel-ish role, and Richard Carlson was the leader of the group. Thanks to Alexandra Rutt for suggesting this week's fun fact, which was an idea that was inspired from this blog post. |
