Nope, this isn't a joke. Lol
Yesterday, DC Comics announced that a new comic series called "Scooby Apocalypse" would be released in May. Not much is known right now, other than it will feature the Scooby-Doo gang in a "new light" solving mysteries in the Apocalypse. So, for those of you who still think this is some kind of cruel joke DC is pulling on us, here's Jim Lee, one of the people who will be drawing the comics, has to say about this surprising twist on the classic Scooby-Doo formula: “I’m a huge Scooby Doo fan, as I think most people are,” admits Lee. “I mean, look at these iconic series and they were cultural touchstones for everyone. All my kids know of Scooby Doo from the various cartoons and live action movies, and we’re in a period where you have people my age that are spending their days thinking about cartoon and sci-fi action movies. It’s a multigenerational obsession at this point, and we just thought it would just be really interesting to take the cartoon version of these characters and see where they would be if we took what existed in the very first iteration of the cartoon and moved it into this day and age."As for what they hope the reaction to these new and updated characters will be? “Outrage!” Lee jokes with a laugh. “I hope that they put a smile on people’s faces. I think we think of these characters so much as our childhood, and I want people to kind of embrace these updated versions of the characters and really understand that at the core, these concepts are not just limited to little kids.” Besides the Scooby Apocalypse series, there will also be a Flintstones and Jonny Quest comic series coming this May to stores. So, what are your thoughts on Scooby Apocalypse? Is it a great new twist or has DC Comics gone too far? Source and Photo Creds: http://www.ew.com/2016/01/28/dc-entertainment-hanna-barbera-titles

I don't hate the apocalypse idea, but when they change the characters that much they've gone too far.

I'd have to agree with you there, the idea is cool but the character designs aren't my favorites. I'll probably still buy the first issue though just to give it a chance.

I won't be. Seeing the characters like this makes me sad. They're definitely not staying true to SD IMO.
